i wonder what the h*ll our ministry is doing.. insteading of revising the Uni curriculum to cater the needs of industry, they waste money to do this kind of thing-which doesnt solve problem from the root

minister, dare u post the statistics of the scheme? How many opportunities have been allocated for Malay, Chinese, INdian?

Many colleges get rich because of this scheme. One of them is the college of my friend's father. He told me this is the best chance to gain huge profit. Sometimes in order to get the numbers to form a class, they simply ask ppl to join. They said: "You no need to attend the class. We just need your name. And you will get RM500 per month." So, this scheme is a waste... many people misuses it.....

Wow that's a terrible thing to do. As i've said before, the government relies too much on the goodwill of the people. They think too highly of their own people. laugh.gif

So their people cheat them. Wonder when they will learn from this. Trust and honor does not exist anymore. Everything must come with checks and consequences for trying to get around the system.

But it's not easy to get the license to organize such courses. So the boss of the colleges must have BIG cable in government to get the courses.

Those college just want to grab this chance to gain a huge profit. I have been offered by this kind of course (My one is A.C.C.P) last month. Just like mIssfROGY, nearly joined but in the end i found a job and gave up on this program.

Those college employees will do anything as long as you will join the course. They even taught us how to cheat to the interviewer about the 6 months unemployed. doh.gif

If i'm not wrong, they will ask you attend for a test to see wether you are qualified or not. But dun worry about this, they will make you pass the test with their BEST EFFORT. After the test, you will go for an interview. This is the most important part, those college employees will try their best to get the tips for you! doh.gif Like what questions the interviewer will ask. I still remember I have an argue with the interviewer about the Stupid SMART CARD! sweat.gif but guess wat, I Passed the interview. biggrin.gif

So the conclusion is if you really want to get this program. Don't ever tell the interviewer that you are not unemployed for 6 months.

Important advice, LIE thumbup.gif

But one thing want to tell you, the modules provided in this A.C.C.P porgram is very nice but still depends on the college lecturers.

Ehhh... me also looking for people leh but here is my comment :

Yes, it is a scheme by the government whereby you do not need to pay them back. However, it has yet been officially launched yet. The PSMB officers have been going around the applicants' centre to have a look last week. Not sure if my centre will be chosen as we are using original Cisco materials coz they stated in one of the criteria that these centres should use study kits of RM 800 max but ours .. the cost is much higher.

Will keep you guys posted from time to time but mind you, no training centres have been chosen so far. For more info, check here : www.hrdnet.com.my

As for the working part, they will check your EPF. If you have worked but have no EPF contribution, can try .. of course .. LIE hahaha. Pay for your own sins ho ..

* Fresh IT/Computer Science/Engineering degree holders
* Graduated at least 6 months ago
* No EPF contribution since then

If possible, min CGPA of 2.8

3 months on the course ... 2 months on the job ... Being compensated RM 350 per month during the course.

if you are interested in CCNP, then please contact suanne as her training centre is cisco certified training centre. but keep in mind that CNP is for degree holder only.

Not sure bout the on the job portion at the moment coz if chosen, my centre will conduct the training and our sister company; DataCraft would absorb the on-the-job portion.

anyone got the offer for these courses should just try attend la.... the certs are all useful enough to provide more value and exp to your resumes. me friend attended before for CCNP and got a job with IBM. Anyway I do agree that the gov should somehow maybe use the money to provide better curriculum for undergrads, this way more graduates are value added automatically.

i attend the program in 2003.... SLG Software Engineering at Selangor Human Resource & Development Centre (SHRDC), Shah Alam, train for 6 month, industry training for 6 month in Puchong......that company hire me, continue work there until mac 2005, now work in cyberjaya thumbup.gif

after complete the program, i receive Advance Diploma Certificate,stamp with approval by Ministry of Human REsource and several gov agency...

last 3 month , i dont remember the name of that gov agency, sent me a survey letter to find out the succes of the SLG program for the past 2years...any way you dont know your luck if you attend this program... probably big international MNC want to hire you after you attend this program...bcoz some of us got hired by them

the moral is you need to work hard,

I remmber informatics had this too 1-2 years back
and my friend went for it. U know what the college admin say? Honestly she said straight up its mainly allocated for malays. So if you plan to do this, i hope u are feeling lucky on that day.

The reason is simple. The ratio for jobless malays and the others is quite large. U been to the recent Job fair? I dare said 95 percent was majority malays. Rest was non malays.

Anyway good luck. CCNP is quite expensive..around 3-4k. Currently its in my plans to do CCNA and then go towards CCNP.

Hi all ...

Still waiting for PSMB side. If you guys really need a job, go ahead with it. If still can wait, then get a part time job with no epf first. All training centres are just waiting for PSMB ...

For CCNA and CCNP, yes, 3 months training and 2 months on-the-job with DataCraft. Other training centres, I have no idea who would you be working for during the 2 months training ...

i read a chinese newspaper few days ago, Dato Fong Zhen Ann said that the graduate training program might start at the beginning of september. but not sure it is true or not... sad.gif

Hate to admit this.....but just want to share with you guys.
I attended the Re-Skilling Scheme last year....sent there by my company. I know this is for unemployed only but the superior from my company is one of the sponsor for this scheme so I was there for training, doing a course relevent to my company's field.
So I and another colleague was there for the torturing 6 months, attending the 9am-6pm course at Shah Alam. In my class of 19 people, only me and my colleague were Chinese. And there were merely any Chinese in other classes.
But I had to admit that the courses conducted were very essential and I got to know a lot of great Malay friends there. But the aftermath of the scheme were disastrous. After the 6 months in-class course, we have to go through another 6 months of practical/assessment training where we were only paid an allowance of RM500. Some were lucky to be sent to company like Flextronic...It was just like doing Latihan Industri. Pay peanut and work like a cow. Why need to go through this twice?
Some of my friend can't tahan the work load abuse and left....some can tahan and finished it but they end up looking for new job after the whole 1 year Re-Skilling Scheme ended. So it was like back to the start.
Me and my colleague don't have to go through the practical training as we had to go back to work at our previous company.
And yes, if you're lazy to start real work now, you can give this Scheme a try. Nothing to lose because you'll still gain extra knowledge at the end. smile.gif

Personally, I don't think we need this so-call Reskilling Scheme. We were already well armoured during the 3 or 4 years of uni life. Time to do real work!

But it's more suitable for Form 5 leavers.

The scheme will start on Aug 9 as the ministry has yet to finish approving the list of training centres.

Fong said more than 200 training providers had applied to conduct courses to help unemployed graduates improve their marketability.

The courses are in English, information and communication technology, tourism, event management and financial planning.

Nearly half of providers who applied are Bumiputera-run companies.

"We are now processing their applications," Fong (right) said.

"They will qualify only if they have the experience and the capacity to teach courses approved by the ministry.

"Most importantly, they must be able to give some sort of guarantee that trainees will get jobs when they finish the course."

About 15,000 graduates are to be trained. They will each receive a monthly allowance of RM350 for four to six months, depending on the duration of their courses.

The ministry is spending some RM100 million on the scheme, which is held on an ad-hoc basis depending on availability of funds.

The ministry has to pay between RM2,000 and RM3,000 in fees per trainee to the training providers for communication and management courses, and RM6,000 for engineering or IT courses.

Unemployed graduates interested in the scheme should register with state Labour Departments.

On the poor response by school-leavers to the English courses conducted by the Industrial Training Institutes, Fong said the ministry would look into the reasons for the low enrolment.

i guess it's launching of SLG scheme only... at the moment, government still in the progress of shortlisting qualify training centre to provide the course... very slow... vmad.gif ...

after it launched the SLG scheme, still they will need time to process applicant's application... guess tat it will take another 1 or 2 weeks to process... u should know bout government efficiency ma... slow is wat i can describe bout government lo... vmad.gif ... so, juz expect it will be started at then end of august or beginning or september... sigh... need to wait again... yawn.gif ...

yeap... coz we dono which training centre is eligible to provide the courses... government will soon (somewhere around tis week) list down the training centre which provide these courses... cool.gif ...

If not mistaken Informatics have the form even before it is being release on the web. The person in charge did ask me whether I wanna fill up on the spot too and show me the form too.

LadyWinter I think you can go over to complete the registration anytime but better make a call first...

the form given by informatics is an old form. you still have to fill up again as new form is slightly different.

yeah it seems that most center will start in late sept, some even toward the end of sept. Gosh~ from early aug postphoned till mid / late sept, that's a long drag...

Just imagine, all the applicants from the whole Malaysia will submit the application form to government. So, they need time to approved the applications.
So, u have to wait until september..

Yes need to be interview by psmb personnel but only for CCNP course.

Anyway I think some applicant already got selected for this SLG, congrat to em' ... My friend was selected for MCSE, just got informed this moment ago... I'm still waiting for my turn... sweat.gif

There is an interview for MCSE too?
I heard my friend taking MCSE only need to show the original certificate to psmb staff....

BTW I was also told that there might be a simple test on maths and some technical issue for CCNP applicant during the interview. Heard this from my center, don't know how true... Hope whoever who went for the interview alr can post up here to share...

I already register for ccnp...although i`ve got ccna already...i taken it at Trainpro...now i`m just a freelance network consultant...PSMB wont recognize me becoz i didnt have EPF number....wahahaha...CCNP for free...its worth it..liau..

Very simple interview laugh.gif , just ask what i'm currently doing, have i worked before, and then talked about the current employment issue, that's all! No technical stuffs was asked, but i saw some applicants there reviewing their network notes, must be very kan cheong. Oh btw i registered at cosmopoint. Anyone here registered there?

Why don't you give them a call and ask about your application? Maybe they are still slow in processing? Anyway don't worry too much,maybe because of too many applicants they might take some time. Some of them here wear formal and some others cincai, some even wear slipper notworthy.gif . Myself i wear formal without tie, since it's an interview i think it's appropriate to dress formally.

CCNA/CCNP and MCSE is two different things. cant say MCSE is bottom lo.. for CCNA , you wil learn all the basic things about network. but CCNP will be more difficult.

Ty. I take MCSE. Go to training center today and get my offer letter already. The government staff also verify my document already. MSCE don't need to interview. Now have to wait their call again...

the time the course starts actually depend on respective training centers but all will be in September, depends on the time the training center submit the applications.

erm... as heard from my training centre, whoever graduated May 2005 onwards, definitely is not eligible to take the course... shakehead.gif ... but nvr said about who graduated before May 2005... guess that u don have to worry much pal... cool.gif ...

I called PSMB asked about the slg status. they told that they will be no intvw, as long u meet the requirements then u able to take the program. about the classes, depend to the tranning center when they wants to start, perhaps this 19/9 :-| . some tranning center delay the classes because they still dont have enough student. means, still looking for student... sad for us who registered earlier... so we have to wait for the others.

that is what PSMB told me, if i cheated by them, i also cheated you all laa...

p/s: anyone register at MIS KL? class will be at BALI rite?

i agree..that's becoz last week my training centre and they told me to come last monday becoz some officer from PSMB want to come and verify all of my original docments(eg diploma,SPM certicate) and bank's passbook...they don't ask any question....just check all of the required documents and then i go home..
now have to wait until my training centre call me again...eventhough i know when the course will start laugh.gif whistling.gif

No interview? For MCSE or LSA or CCNP or all???
Cause I remember clearly that they will be interview for ALL CCNP applicant, and if not mistaken it is stated as well in hrdnet.com.my.


BTW during the launching of this SLG I remmeber they said they will be more strict in CCNP cause this course is the most expensive among other and there were some cheating case before this. Someone actually quit his job to join the SLG and have occupied this valuable opportunity which is suppose for unemploy.

the training center have the right to select any date from 19th Sept 2005 onward to commerce class. For my center they picked 3rd Oct, Guidance View 19th Sept, and for MIS I think it is best you give em a call to verify...

-Need a Degree in Computing / IT / similiar course
-Jobless for 6 month

Requirement for SLG - MCSE / LSA

If you are talking bout SLG then you need to attend full time class from monday to friday 9am - 4pm...

u need to pay for the course fees if u taking CCNA at trainpro, whereby u don have to pay a single cent if u take CCNP or MCSE course at trainpro under SLG scheme... cool.gif ...

i bliv that if u said the class will be commenced this saturday, then u need to pay the fees for this CCNA course... by the way, SLG scheme did not offer CCNA... shakehead.gif ...

as stated by wssoo, CCNP requirements: Degree holder in IT/Computer Science and at least 6 months unemployed... since u juz finished ur degree recently, guess that u r not eligible to apply for CCNP unless u have at least 6 months unemployed since the last day of ur exam... cool.gif ...

i do bliv that u had completed ur diploma 1 or 2 years ago rite?... all the courses under SLG scheme required at least 6 months unemployed... so, u only eligible to apply for MCSE or LSA... cool.gif ...

if u r really interested, do grab ur chance to find the training centre which provide the courses under SLG scheme rite away after u saw this post... cool.gif ...

it shouldnt be a problem pal... as i'd mentioned in previous post, Guidance View will call us if the class is scheduled earlier than 19h September... cool.gif ...

worst come to worst, juz assume that the class will be commenced at the end of this month lo... sad.gif ... but i don think so la since they already said class will be commenced at 19th September... so relax for this whole week n start busy nxt week... cool.gif ...

i mean.. will there be any rejection for those whom they think are not qualified? becoz as far as im concern.. the centre must first select those applicants who are really meets the requirement rite? and that is why we sent them our resume ... am i rite? only then.. they will contact us to send them our transcript, i/c, bank's account num and stuff.. am i rite? correct me if im wrong...

Well my guess it will be just a simple interview.... sort of get to know you maybe...

Sending in your resume to the training center is not part of the selection process, some center require applicant to send in resume first while some don't (mine no need)... 1 center told me before since applicant has been hunting for job so they must already have a complete personal detail on their CV, by receiving applicant's resume, they can determine whether one is qualify or not...

I think the only chance for a person to get rejected after interview is when the psmb found out that applicant has lied on the application or doesn't really meet the requirement or any other possibilities...

As for whether there is any test or not during the interview, this is yet to confirm... cause my center can't even give me a firm answer... few weeks back was told will have a simple test, this week tell me just simple interview... so which is which? dunno... sweat.gif We can only get a clearer picture after keane04 has gone for his interview this coming friday. So do keep track of this post if you need more info...

i got some tips from my centre actually.

they say, psmb need to talk to use see whether we are keen on taking the course or not and the reputation of ur centre is quite important also.

if ur centre's previous record is not good, u may b will meet sterner psmb personnel.

and they need to verify on wat u hv filled in the application form......whether it is consistent or not.

the scenario is::: wif ur form in front of they and they will ask some of the fields of the form.......check whether u hav lied to them.
but dun worry coz ur center will giv u chance to look at ur form prior to the interview.

Well, all you said it's true.

For me,

my center say 9am interview, but the interviewer arrived almost 10am.

one interviewve only.

for those who grad earlier, say 2-3 years ago.....he will ask "why u dun wan work ?" and "working experience"......very brief actually.


as I jus grad for 5-6 months......he wanna look at my cert and ask me when is my final semester......and when i got in " he asked: perkenalkan diri anda"

and he will not straightaway inform u whether u can get or not.....he need to go back meeting with commitee members......i think they will filter out some applicants la. may b ccnp too expensive.

for those center tat accept large number of students may b filter more.......i guess only.

as for me.........i am the only chinese in my center.....all others are malay. wow. so shock.

but the instructer is chinese.

up until now i havent receive any notification......Monday, perhaps.

owh...so this interview is something vague too.. meaning.. we still be rejected if they think we're not fit??? damn... i tawt it would be easier since my centre said.. they only want to verify some certs and ask some 'not-so-important' questions.. just wanna see who u are.. and the feeling that there might be some applicants to be rejected is so not cool..

Just came back from the interview.... scary sweat.gif guess what, my center only 16 ppl apply for CCNP and <20 for MCSE as well.... and the scarier part is that my center everyone was being 'interview' by head of psmb.... double sweat.gif

First few took around 5 min.... and some even the course counsoler have to go into the interview room too... sweat.gif wonder why...but after that most of the candidate he didn't ask any question at all.... my turn i just go in sit he didn't even check my ori document just ask me photocopy something then leave.... and when ask "DID I GET THE OFFER" he just nod head softly, which make me feel like shocking.gif ...

Not to scare anyone here but my center quite some number of ppl get rejected... around 6 - 9ppl... those who were rejected were ask to stay back by the center, cause they will try to talk to the interviewer to reconsider them...

reason being rejected was like lost spm cert, jobless for only 5month and 2week, no completion letter, and some other minor reason.... scary right? sweat.gif but don't worry too much... just be prepare and wish you guys all the best thumbup.gif

Of course it is compulsary... make sure you are there on time... cause you never know... like my center the interviewer was there on time... to keep good impression better be there on time...
if you don't attend the interview I doubt they will reserve a seat for you... whistling.gif

hear la head of psmb said (during launching of SLG) this is the third batch of SLG and MIGHT be last... so better appreciate opportunity now...

I bring all along but he didn't ask for my ori cert... didn't ask question like "intro yourself", "how come didn't work", and stuff like that... Later when you wanna work you gotta wear formal clothes. Unless you work at Microsoft then only you can wear anything that you like laugh.gif

Okay....I take back my words. class is soooooo boring. Since yesterday was 1st class so I tot I should give the replacement trainer another chance. Hope the real trainer will be back soon so that we can have a real lesson.

there's nothing much to learn in the first week of the class... as u all should know, everyone who's taking any course under Graduate Training Scheme (SLG) will need to study module SS101 - Personal Enhancement, Work Ethics and Entrepreneurship which is very common and boring... shakehead.gif ... no exam for this module... shakehead.gif ...

this kind of theory really hypnotized me... bet for u all guys will be hypnotized as well... biggrin.gif ...

depends on what course u r taking... as for me, i took MCSE, there's no question had been asked, juz document checking... cool.gif ... but as for CCNP, it will be much more strict than MCSE, questions such like when u graduated? work before? will be asked... cool.gif ... as u know the course for CCNP is much more higher than MCSE... cool.gif ...

I received mine at training centre also. not sure about other centre. Training centre call me to pick the letter but only photostat copy. They said that they'll give the original after the class commenced dunno why they wanna keep the original.

Where are you from destiny_grace? Penang? Can always refer to http://www.hrdnet.com.my/hrdnet/slg3_search.cfm for list of appointed training center...

You sure registration is still open? I'm not too sure bout it cause if not mistaken training center have to submit applicant's form 1 month before class start, but if it is still open and you are interested in it better act fast... you wouldn't want to wait too long for class to commerce...

If you take those course (not under SLG) like MCSE, CCNA, etc etc, usually you only need to attend 5 - 10 class and then class finish... Even ethical hacking last time I ask if not mistaken 5 - 8 class only... But for SLG duration for each module has already been extend only... So I think 2 - 3 months time is enough to cover everything... furthermore if not fully cover on every module how student suppose to sit for the exam??

Also you sure they will deduct allowance if fail the paper? As far as I know, they only pay for your first attempt, if somehow didnt get through but wanna take the exam again, then have to pay the exam fee ourself... Was not told by neither psmb staff nor training center tht they will deduct allowance...

Not all courses will have exams. For example, Executive Development and English Language courses will not have any exams but there will be a class project.

Actually the duration of the course is 6 months + 3 months ojt. Yes they get RM500 permonth but what i heard right now is they cut the allowence to RM300 only for the new batch.

the allowance is mainly for you to cover up your expenses such as travelling expenses, accomodation, and food... furthermore you are attending prof course for free... which will be a valued added to you when come to job hunting... during the 2 month attachment yes you still get your allowance but salary wise it depend on the company you were attached to... see how much they pay is how much you get...

well.. i dunno much about CCNP... but i know that this slg program will benefit us somehow.. especially for our employment.. all u need is the guts and the will to study these courses... plus.. not many ppl can have this oppurtunity.. these courses cost u thousands of ringgit.. so.. i think dat is enuff to explain how good this program is..

CCNP requirements: Degree holder, at least 6 months unemployed...

MCSE requirements: Diploma holder, at least 6 months unemployed...

if u got degree but doenst meet the second requirement which is 6 months umployed, why dont u use ur diploma to apply MCSE instead?... sure everyone will need to go through diploma before proceeding to degree rite?... doesnt this prove that for sure, diploma exceeded 6 months unemployed?... got what i mean?... cool.gif ...

if u got diploma, u can apply for MCSE rather than taking ur risk to apply for CCNP since ur degree doesnt meet the second requirement... once u applied and got rejected, no more second chance liao (previously thought)... sad.gif ...

but the good news is that if u got rejected coz didnt met the second requirement, u still can apply for the same course but at different training centre (as heard from my fren and TrainPro)... and make sure the second attempt in applying the course meet the second requirement... cool.gif ... i'm not sure about this news though...

There were applicant who were unemployed less than 6 month who had apply for this SLG too... but psmb is vry strict this time. Alr few cases unemploy for 5month2weeks also get rejected... sweat.gif

my interview was last monday..19/9/05.. so.. it has been 3 days waiting.. and i was informed that the classes will start this coming monday.. but i guess.. if results still hasnt out yet.. there miht be possibilities that the class will be postponed to i dunoo... hehe.. arghhh..

why can't it be something like this:

MAC - APR --> 1 month
APR - MAY --> 1 month
MAY - JUNE --> 1 month
JUNE- JULY --> 1 month
JULY- AUG ---> 1 month
AUG - SEPT --> 1 month

TOTAL ===== 6 months
------------------------------

i sms-ed imran again and ask about whether or not the class will be postponed.. since he said that the class will start next week... and then he immediately called me and told me that the class will start as scheduled.. this monday.. so.. bostonweb will commence class as scheduled this monday.. dats wat i've been told..

and he did mentioned about they (bostonweb) are waiting for something 'black and white' from PSMB which i myself dun understand.. hopefully what he said were true.. and hopefully no one will be rejected later when the result is out...

i call up imran this morning, but he was engage, so i spoke to melina. she told me the same thing as what imran said. but she didnt confirm that the class will commence as scheduled. she said she'll be working on sat and sun too to sort things out. though she said will call me up again on sunday, but guess i'm the one who calls ...

If u said MAC, that is 01/3/05 - 01/9/05(6 months), and ur interview date was held on 19/9/05, that's enough 6 months+few days.

According to ur degree completion's date on 30/3/05 written in ur degree offer letter given by college, then should be calculated from 30/3/05 - 30/9/05(6 months). But ur interview date is quite early... alittle bit worry. Haihkk!! PSMB very strict for ccnp checking in this year, less few days will also be rejected...oops, MCSE also the same....scary!

Anyway, wish u you hav a good luck to get offer letter in this few days.

hmmm... .. if imran said that the class will starts this monday..im not sure what happen if the result is out. are they going to reject us ? if yes... why cant they just tell us that the class will only start after they receive the result from PSMB? i think it would be "menyusahkan" if the class starts.. we study .. then when the result is out.. we get rejected.. arrghhh...! is this some kind of tactics that the centre has planned? arrghhh mad.gif hate to think about it... just let it be.. whistling.gif

Bostonweb is really "black and white" as black can change to white, white can change to black... and start class is on monday. So, dario will get the place later, i guess.
