hsbc amanah visa gold:

1. low requirement salary - 24k/year
2. free for life with 12x swipe/year.
3. 0.5% cashback for all local spending.

just for comparison with hsbc normal visa gold:

1. requirement salary - 40k/year.
2. swipe rm1 = 1 point. to redeem rm50, its 12500 points @ swipe rm12,500.

while for hsbc amanah, swipe rm12500 can get back rm62.50 (extra rm12.50)
This card might give a big headache to you if you're a non-Muslim.

QUOTE(yhtan @ Dec 21 2010, 06:06 PM)
does this mean using Citibank ATM card withdraw money on Maybank ATM will impose RM1 charge instead of RM8 charge?
Yes.

By the way, you will be charged RM10 each time you withdraw cash at non-Citibank ATM and not RM8.

nowadays, even i use my DA to purchase online at 1am for only RM34.xx (after convert), they will immediately call me to verify.
maybe bcoz online transaction, and at midnight.

same goes to HSBC, i swipe rm9k 1 shot and they immediately call me to verify too.
but if swipe 2k, 3k, they never call sweat.gif

even DA, previously i swipe (err, slot, actually?) my card twice at esso pump, they immediately blocked the card.

usually bcoz of smiles card cant be read (esso, credit card 1st then smiles card. shell, bonuslink 1st then credit card).

so at esso credit card already authorized, but smiles card cant read, so i cancel it.
when i swipe (slot) the DA card for 2nd time, declined! sad.gif
i immediately call the bank and they told the card had been blocked (afraid for unauthorized use for petrol).
i verify it and ask them to unblocked it.

this happen to me 2x in a same day! i pump once at morning and again at night.
solution: redeem points till finish and apply new smiles card laugh.gif

(my 'damage' smiles card cant be read at petrol pump but no problem if swipe at cashier inside sweat.gif)

this story happen b4 pbb offer esso/mobil  blush.gif

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 21 2010, 01:59 PM)
The limit of your liability for a lost or stolen credit card is RM250.00 only under Rule 13.2 of the Bank Negara rules on credit card if it has been fraudulently used.

Please note this limit and ensure that your bank does not overcharge you should your card have been used illegally.

Most are unaware of RM250 limited liability C PLEASE READ AND BE INFORMED! CARDHOLDERS need not pay more than RM250 whenever their lost or stolen credit cards are used by others. Yet, often times, they end up paying much more.

This is because Bank Negara has not informed cardholders that they do not have to pay more than RM250 for fraudulent transactions carried out using their lost or stolen cards, when they had not acted fraudulently and had informed the banks about the lost or stolen cards as soon as possible.

This protection is given under Clause 13.2 of Bank Negara's Credit Card Guideline:

"The cardholder's maximum liability for unauthorised transactions as a consequence of a lost or stolen credit card shall be confined to a limit specified by the issuer of credit cards, which shall not exceed RM250 provided the cardholder has not acted fraudulently or has not failed to inform the issuer of credit cards as soon as reasonably practicable after having found that his credit card is lost or stolen."

Banks know about Clause 13.2 but have chosen to ignore it. Instead they pursue cardholders for the fraudulent transactions.

They will tell cardholders that a clause in the credit card contracts states that all transactions carried out before the loss of the cards are reported to the banks, are deemed to be carried out by the cardholders.

Many cardholders then pay up because they are unaware of the RM250 limited liability. "

no one knows what are the evaluation criteria for OCBC cc. my friend's application was rejected too. they sent a letter to his house. probably coz he is owning too many cards ?
*
Doubt it has anything to do with too many cards as OCBC still approved my application without me submitting proof of income. From my CCRIS report, the total credit facilities given to me by banks is substantial (more than 100X my monthly salary but of course they don't know my income since I did not give them any proof) and yet OCBC gave me CL higher than my HSBC Plat card. However, my CCRIS report do have a plus point - it states I have been holding UOB CC since 1991 (my first local bank card after I graduated). FYI, I don't have any CASA or FD with OCBC.

QUOTE(it.fusion @ Dec 21 2010, 02:21 PM)
Please let know best credit card out there with following that give rewards back / cash back / travel rewards etc with zero anual fee...

i am new to credit cards but need it quite urgently....appreciate your inputs here...thanks
*
well, decide what you want. You want cash back then OCBC Titanum, HLB Essential & Citibank Plat Cash BAck. You want travel then get RHB Travel or if fly with Air Asia get Citibank. You want points get AMEX or SCB.

If you just started work, my suggestion is apply for 2 cards from different banks in case one of them turn you.

QUOTE(gerrardling @ Dec 21 2010, 03:17 PM)
anyone cancel your citibank card before ? heard that citibank wont let their customer to cancel their cc so easily, they will try to delay and delay. anyone experience this before ?

well, for my case they happily closed my account when I requested without any questions and credited back RM50 GST which was charged.

Yup ... I concur this information. So any smart applying too many cards (e.g. during fairs), banks will see all the application pending when they do the CCRIS check. This can be a reason for rejecting the cc application as well.

I want to share my experience with MBB card as well since so many ppl sharing biggrin.gif . This event does not incurred any loss to me but I feel that their the way their system work does not offer any security to us.
I used my MBB CC to purchase a 2K DELL laptop for my gf. The purchase made under her name but paid using my card. That was the first time i made an online transaction. The purchase went off successfully and MBB did not call me to verify the transaction. A few days after receiving the laptop, I found that my card was blocked. So, I call their CS and was told that they blocked my card as they can't verified that I made the purchase. Reason given, they can't reach me through my cell but in actual, there was no call from them. Another few days later, I received a mail from them saying that my card was blocked due to unauthorized online transaction.

The thing here is that they blocked my card after the laptop had already been received and payment being charged to my card. Just imagine if someone misused my card.

you can do full or partial amount for BT. Which bank you want to BT to? For DA about a week payment made and MBB less than 14 days. Go read last few pages of BT thread.

yes, CCRIS will show all approved and pending credit facilities in your name. So if applied to 5 different banks, after more than a week go check out your CCRIS report and you can see which banks are processing your application. The last time I checked my CCRIS, my EON bank was still pending and gave me a shocked when the CL stated was RM15K, but actual approved CL much higher.

yah kind of odd that they approved the payment and then only block the card. Few years back when I bought a laptop from Dell using AMEX, it took days to get it approved.
