Did the vet mention the cause of it? Is it food or genetic related?
QUOTE(Hikaru @ May 14 2011, 12:07 PM) Just following up, last night my rabbit, Mello peed blood, so I was really worried and this morning I brought Mello to the vet and the vet said that he's having a swelling on his lungs or something. Can't remember exactly. Basically gave him some antibiotics and he should be fine... hopefully. Added on May 17, 2011, 1:30 pmYou're doing great.... During molting season your rabbit may ingest some fur while grooming. Give him more Timothy Hay and papaya tablets to help with digestion. Also make sure you groom him often to remove the fur so that he does not ingest them too much.
QUOTE(ally19 @ May 18 2011, 10:39 PM) thanks. zenix, one other thing. today when i was cleaning the cage, i saw his poop has bits of fur...its was around it like mold growing, a bit "furry". but when he ate and poop just now it looks normal. is this ok? please remove the picture with the 4 letter word can? there are kids visiting this thread too.... The same reason I question the credibility of breeders supplying to pet stores. Don't they understand that there is so much risk involved as most Pet Stores are usually a central place where all diseases and germs collide. How much virus and bacteria can cleaning kill?
Like it or not it is all about selling. And to sell, rabbit must be cute and that means, below 8 weeks which is the minimum age for rabbits to be weaned... Sad but true and nothing anyone can do about it because we are still living in the age where abandoning pets are still a norm.... QUOTE(TeliLeti @ Jun 9 2011, 07:45 AM) The rabbit I bought from petshop died after exactly 7 days as well. This post has been edited by sangterap: Jun 9 2011, 10:55 PMNow I know better than to buy pets from petshops. |

I agree and it is a sad fact.
QUOTE(@Adele @ Jun 10 2011, 12:44 AM) sangterap: not neccessary pet shop only no good le.......some breeders claim themselves reputable also sell their rabbits at 5 weeks.......My cousin bought... but so far quite lucky din encounter much problem, except the rabbit looks very thin. Then the staff has misinformed you. Netherland Dwarf are the smallest breed that matures at 4 months old. Meaning to say they can get impregnated after 4 months old. Another reason why credibility is questionable for breeders to send to pet shops that does not know their facts...btw, it may be impossible coz as I know certain breeder only sell bucks and not does.QUOTE(vincentwee @ Jun 10 2011, 10:06 PM) |

Good on you for being so king and picked the imperfect on among the perfect. You have a big heart for doing that. Looking at the photo, little Lucy here seemed to have a condition called the Splayed Legs. Mostly inherited from its parents. She will be able to live a normal life though. Just ensure she has proper grip in her living quarters.
Just estimating, she's probably around 7 to 10 weeks old judging from the photo. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

So sorry for the late reply (kicking myself). I have once had a little rabbit broke its leg because got stuck inside the hay rack. The leg was turning 360 degrees, total dislocation. My vet helped me "set" the leg with a type of "cast" material made of metal wrapped in foam. I can't remember the name. 90% recovery. After a few weeks, my bunny can hop like usual. Can be done if u "set" it early.
Good luck! QUOTE(GravityFi3ld @ Jul 1 2011, 04:08 AM) LoL! This post has been edited by sangterap: Jul 7 2011, 12:49 AMSangTerap, due to an earlier incident my buck's right "hand" is dislocated and according to the vet he needs to undergo surgery which would cost RM800-1,000..and also warned that the anaesthetic used for the surgery has a very high chance of killing the rabbit. What do I do now? Do I leave his hand as it is? He can't groom himself properly, only uses his left hand now altho he tries very hard to lift his right hand too.. |

might have got some dust in the eye. chronic tearing problem may be attributed to overgrown teeth. If bunny's teeth are alright and not overgrown, check for eye infection. still in doubt, bring to vet.
QUOTE(ally19 @ Aug 26 2011, 10:40 PM) theres something wrong with my rabbit's right eye. its bulging out a bit a few days ago. now theres lk pimple pus (light yellowish) at the tip. i used ear bud to wipe it off then now its appearing again. ___________ UPDATE: after the 3rd wipe it didnt come back. this morning its looks ok but the fur around it is lk wet/damp compared to the rest of the eye which is dry... |

They will groom each other which means they have the capability to love. But i doubt they know if they are siblings.
QUOTE(neuroneuster @ Aug 31 2011, 12:25 PM) [attachmentid=2412495] and more. Added on August 31, 2011, 1:24 pmhi, do rabbits ( siblings ) will know each other/love each other? will they recognize that they are siblings? Added on September 3, 2011, 4:55 pmYou really should separate the buck (male) from the doe (female). There is no cycle in rabbits, they breed at will. Therefore, your doe has been impregnated the moment she gave birth to the 1st litter. Don't think you would like to give birth every 9 months? QUOTE(neuroneuster @ Aug 30 2011, 05:36 PM) hi, can someone assist me? This post has been edited by sangterap: Sep 3 2011, 04:55 PM1. why my female rabbit gives birth twice this month? how to understand the cycle? 2. i have 4 junior rabbits, around month old. Do you think I should already let them together with the big big rabbits? I am worried they will be bullied. Thanks a lot. |

Cost of neutering/spaying range between RM 180 to RM 250. Female is a little riskier but I recommend Dr. Lynette & Dr. Loh from Kota Kemuning for both the procedures. They are very good with rabbits.
