Rabbit First Aid Kit

Often times we find ourselves helpless whenever our rabbit(s) fall sick. The nearest vet is either close or is not rabbit savvy enough to help us. As concerned rabbit owners, we must be self sufficient to care for our own rabbit(s) which often times seemed to be dispensable objects.

These are the must haves for all rabbit owners.

For those who are interested to add on item(s) to this list please PM. Thank you.

1) Rabbit Nutri-Drops
This is by far my favorite (not because I carry the product). It has proven to save lives. It is not a medicine but supplement. 50% Nutrients from this liquid based supplement goes straight into the bloodstream without going through the digestive process making it the most powerful and efficient life saver for rabbits - a "miracle cure". PM sangterap or email truluvrabbitry@gmail.com to obtain.

2) Benebac (PetAG)
Contain live colonies of good bacteria which helps in balancing the gut flora. Helps with bloating caused by bad bacteria releasing toxin and gas. Only a few vets carry this product in Klang Valley. One of them is:

Dhillon Animal Clinic & Surgery
19, Jalan Bukit 11/2, Petaling Jaya
Malaysia 46200
Contact : 03-79551370

3) Oxbow Critical Care
Grounded/Powder form hay with complete nutrients for rabbits that refuses to eat. By adding water and making it into a slurry, it can easily be given orally through a syringe. Can be obtained from Pet Lovers Centre and most stores carrying Oxbow product.

4) Zellox-II
Though some ingredients in this human product is not suitable for rabbits, the main active ingredient SIMETHICONE is very effective in breaking up gas when a rabbit is experiencing a bloat. Can be obtained easily in any pharmacy. General dosage when a rabbit is bloating, 1 ml every hour for first 3 hours. 1 ml every 8 hours thereafter.

5) Syringe
I find this tool very useful especially when giving supplements and medicine orally. Can be obtained from any pharmacy.

Young rabbit usually eat a lot, because it's growing everyday. No need split to two meals, just let him eat. smile.gif

All animals doesn't like to be caged if they want to, its normal. You may have to carry him and put him inside the cage manually if there is no choice. Else, just let him roam free around your house. tongue.gif

I agree with Kazuki that young rabbits must be given unlimited food as they are growing.

More fresh hay too just in case the pellets finish, he still can munch on hay...

I still have a hard time to differentiate between Lionhead & Jersey Wooly tongue.gif

i suppose mine is some sort of hybrid.
his skirt gets dirty and tangled so usually trimmed.
his head too furry until touching his eyes so have to trim.
but i guess from the description more lion head than jersey woolly? rclxub.gif

jersey wooly the body well distributed wool and if i'm not mistaken the head has short hair...for lions their wool only on their skirting and they have a mane and short hair on face region..sorry i'm not use to using the rabbit terms instead using lame man's  term

but she has a very nice mane if u ask me..yea too diverse the gene for lions..
