you have a kind heart zenix. I don't mean to be cruel but it is this same statement that you had in mind that indirectly encourages more cruelty and care less attitude by sellers. A lot of cruelties thrive because they feeds on emotions and sympathy. I used to have this type of thoughts as well, "better in my hands than theirs". Now, I only visit pet stores for products and accessories. I rarely visit their live stock sections because I do not want to feel sad for the animals.
QUOTE(zenix @ Feb 16 2011, 01:36 AM) madfag, you did the right thing by limiting the space that your rabbit roam and that really helps in litter training.QUOTE(madfag @ Feb 16 2011, 03:43 PM) i didnt purposely do it, but this is what i did to my rabbit when i first got him. i didnt let him out alot. now i let him roam freely on the balcony. when he want to eat/pee/poo, he goes back to his cage. Added on February 16, 2011, 8:33 pmThat is the reason why the triangular litter tray has raised sides so that the pee does not go out of the cage. please be patient, it is not like cooking maggie mee and expect her to gobble up everything. Also must understand that it takes a baby bunny tummy 8 weeks to fully developed. By the looks of it, Abby is still underage and there is too much "drugs" and "rojak" inside her tummy right now. Diarrhea in bunnies this age is a very bad news.
I advice you to seek vet's advice because I do not know how else I should advice. I am also afraid that there will be misunderstanding communicating through forums/sms/pm/phone. Best thing to do is get vet's advice and learn first hand what to do. Avoid the previous vet that is.... QUOTE(yeelin04 @ Feb 18 2011, 02:35 PM) |

I am so sorry to hear this YeeLin04. Please know that you have done your bestest and please don't give up having rabbits as pets.
My only advice for you is, NEVER buy any rabbit under 8 weeks old. Although at 8 weeks they look less cute than Abby here, they are at least healthier. Binky free Abby girl..... Erm....where did u get that idea from? Newspaper that will dirty your hand with ink is good toys for rabbit? I think you might have got the wrong information my friend. Better you give the toilet roll for your rabbit to toss around. That's the cheapest toy u can use for ur rabbit.

Techi5,
Refer to the 1st page or this page - http://truluvrabbitry.com/6-basic-care-for-beginners/ Yes, give hay 24/7. General rule of thumb for pellets if your rabbit is below 6 months - unlimited (24/7) and if above 6 months - 1/4 of a ikea 250ml cup per day. Go look for a corner litter tray Alex brand here's an example - http://chubbypetsgarden.com/webshaper/stor...ProductItem=701 QUOTE(techi5 @ Feb 23 2011, 10:47 PM) hello again. Walala123 the next major event coming up would be the Rabbit show on 4th June 2011 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. Please follow this blog - http://mroc.wordpress.com/i see some internet guides. they say hay is their main diet. means i feed hay more than pellets? some say provide unlimited ammount of hay. so means i feed hay everyday and pellets once a day? but i see my rabbit shop, they only feed their rabbits pellets, those cheap pellets, so i got the concept of "pellets are rabbits main diet" until i read some blogs. and how much pellets do i need to feed my rabbit a day and how many times a day? my bunny is arround 9-10 months old. btw, how much does a pet litter tray cost? i went PLC today any saw it selling for rm90! omg! thankyou (: QUOTE(Walala123 @ Feb 25 2011, 10:01 AM) |

I think this is a problem with many newbies. Differentiating between cecal and diarrhea. Excessive cecal is an indication of excessive protein content in food. Some rabbits thrive on high protein and some don't. That is the reason why Timothy Hay based pellets are made. And even if you are feeding higher protein content pellets, you can ration the pellets and feed more fresh Timothy Hay or any grass hay like Mountain/Bermuda grass.

2. Very good sign, keep it up. The more hay the better! 3. I believe you mean Spaying. It will cost around 250 to 300. Good luck! zenix,
1. Perhaps he has lop ear gene? The only time a rabbit's ear will fall down if it is not a lop ear rabbit is due to injury or it is sick. Else, it has lop ear gene. Sometimes you will get people selling lop ear rabbits with ears that don't lop at all. Strange but it does happen. LOL! 2. This is pretty subjective. Some prefer their rabbits to drink more some less but like humans all rabbits are different in terms of their needs. I am not a vet but as I know, excessive drinking could be related to kidney problem. Some rabbits cannot take the high protein content in their food. Pellets with high protein contents may cause this but not generally. Very subjective to individual rabbit on their tolerance for protein. Even some baby rabbits cannot take too much alfalfa hay. First go to a vet and ascertain if it is kidney problem caused by protein. If it is, try switching to Timothy Hay based pellets. Also to solve your wet leg problem, always use a "raised floor" cage or litter tray so that all urine will fall down to the tray underneath instead of soaking poor bunny's fur. I must stress again that it is best to consult a qualified vet if you find something amiss with your rabbits. Don't trade their lives with free advice. I only can gauge that much information from 1 or 2 lines that you type here. The Vet is able to check on your rabbit's blood and urine for more accurate information. Hope that helps and good luck! QUOTE(zenix @ Mar 10 2011, 12:40 AM) sangterap got a few questions for you... 1. my new rabbit is a month old since i bought him. looks healthy but how come like to pretend to be lop ear? sometimes both up, sometimes both down. 2. he drinking alot of water, one whole bottle like half a day. and pee alot. good or bad? should i reduce his intake coz he drinking too much and pee too much until he is very stinky and feet always wet. |

good recommendation because based on experience some below 6 months really cannot tolerate too much alfalfa hay. everything is very subjective and must use on case to case basis. Yes, it is general rule of thumb to feed alfalfa for below 6 months and timothy hay above 6 months. But timothy hay can be given throughout....
QUOTE(lm_meileng @ Mar 12 2011, 11:09 PM) ya, u can mix, but what i am afraid is bunny will tend to love alfalfa hay and ignore timothy hay. generally, bunny below 6 months is encouraged to give alfalfa hay and for those above 6 months, should gradually change to timothy hay. at the end of the day, u should give timothy hay and alfalfa hay can only give once in a while. alfafa hay contain high protein which is suitable for young and growing bunny, timothy hay contain high fiber which is suitable for adult bunny. |
