1) Bypass splitter/ micro filter/ fax machine/ lightning protector.

2) Stand alone connection, from wall socket to modem (No parallel line).

3) Flush DNS
a) For Win 98/ME:
- Click Start button, go to run
- Type "winipcfg" and then click OK
- Select your network card name from the adapter drop-down menu.

i have my line problem also in many request time out when i ping for sample web site like 'www.google.com'.
Usually is like in 10~15min, it will have 1min request time out like that.
i possible confirm that is disconnected already. But i check my SNR margin....it is above 30 which is normal and won't get line disconnect problem~
maybe the router/modem setting will cause the disconnection happen??

lightning arrestor unplugged and I got download 768kbps, upload didn't change (same 480kbps). Local & remote SNR down further to 9dB.
Just made a complaint and TMnut said I should get 1MB because:
1) less than 3.5km from exchange
2) they opened up my connection around 1.5Mbps (not sure about this la since they r nut)

....... latest update: change to my Aztech 600EU and wallaa thumbup.gif
check this out:
from modem: upload 512kbps download 1536kbps SNR still 9dB but no disconn so far
from speedometer: upload 383kbps and download 1278kbps whistling.gif and thats double compared when I used Riger DB102.
And after all when they said they open 1.5Mbps, they really meant it rclxms.gif

I wish to know some information about Streamyx.

1. Is Telekom use DMT or CAP modulation?

DMT = Discrete Multitone Technique, that also known as Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) - that used in ADSL connections that follow the G.DMT (ITU G.992.1) standard, in which existing copper wires are used to achieve high-speed data connections.

CAP= Carrierless Amplitude Phase modulation (CAPM) is a non-standard variation of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). CAP was the de facto standard for xDSL deployments up until 1996, deployed in 90 percent of xDSL installs. Now it is deprecated in favour of Discrete MultiTone Modulation (DMT)

(source: www.wikipedia.org)

2. Is Telekom using an Alcatel compliant or a Cisco System DSLAM?

3. What is the domain name of Streamyx? I assume it's streamyx.com?

Err i've got some questions regarding my line. Last time it was abit better until now. God damnit i cant live with this laggy line.

Line State Connected
Modulation Multi-mode
Annex Mode ANNEX_A
Max Tx Power -38 dBm/Hz
SNR Margin Downstream-15dB Upstream-13dB
Line Attenuation Downstream-4dB Upstream-2dB
Data Rate Downstream-8160kbps Upstream-864kbps

This is the info from the adsl monitor in my DSL-G640T router.

Currently used by 5 people. Like 2 months ago, the line is super stable. I can play battlenet without lagness.
But now whenever im in battlenet, people complain that my games are laggy. Lag spikes smile.gif I suppose you know what that mean ?

What causes frequent lag spikes ??

Btw im living in a condo if that makes any difference at all doh.gif
Previously the line is also very smooth until this new semester, its all the opposite ! >.<

EDIT : Im using 1 mbps package tongue.gif

Line Attenuation
Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.

I just bought a D-Link 520T and am experiencing frequent disconnection where the ADSL light disappears for about a minute.. happens quite a lot.

Which page router page should I post here? It looks different from all the ZTE screenshots here.

Also, after getting a new modem out of the box, what are the additional configuration settings that needs to be changed aside from the basic connection to ensure smooth speeds?

Can someone point me to the relevant thread here on LY?

well, mine must take the cake then... i can still surf, with much difficulty i must add, and this is what i get when i try to ping any site.... i've tried changing the DNS address, and i've called the tmnuts about 7 times in the past 4 days. all they say is that they'll get a technician to look into it. i'm not sure what he's looking at then. and the agents don't seem to care when i tell them that i can't ping any site... they just ask me to wait for the technician.... funny thing is, i can still use torrent and messenger (ie yahoo and msn). however, surfing sucks big time. torrent speeds never go past 20kbps... port forwarding done with encryption enabled...
