haha okay. probably i should rephrase. any (probably relatively obscure) companies that most good students didnt try to apply (bcuz they feel they can go for better companies) but is actually a decent starting point for a career? ;p

i dont mean to cut the fun here but i seriously think you should send your resume out there. Why bother whether good students have or have not applied? you did your best and let those companies do the rest. doh.gif

I think you can find a lot of info from MOGSC website. There are so many companies and some info regarding their core business.

I hope this will help icon_rolleyes.gif

that's my concern. it doesnt matter if im able to portray myself well etc if my CGPA is too low, right?

let's assume my CGPA alone is too low for big companies. back to y question: what sort of companies should i try my luck once i graduate? something not too competitive but can pave the way for a good career?
*
u hv nothing to lose submitting hundreds ur CVs around to related O&G companies dude... just submit online n browse around for vacancies..sometimes the company will desperately need employee and they even take barely qualified student for it..u might get called for interview and flunked, but at least u got urself exp, should i say..

anyway, u will find ur way if u try hard enough.. good luck completing ur study! thumbup.gif

I'll go for NDT. You will learn a lot about drilling tools by just inspecting the cracks, fatigue and defects whereby in Welding, you just learn...Welding.

I heard Schlumberger will be coming to UNITEN Career Fair. Does anyone know whether or not they will be accepting applications from other universities at the event?

Usually Schlumberger will do preliminary screening to obtain the shortlist for the interview session. However, until now for some reason there are still no information on UNITEN career website (http://careers.uniten.edu.my/careerfair2010/index.html) regarding the submission of resume to the Schlumberger representative for the upcoming career fair or to any other companies. Until now, the information there still seems to be incomplete as there is only a list of participating companies.

I hope they update the website soon!

anyone else here also trying to get an interview with Schlumberger at UNITEN on the 22nd - 23rd February?

Frankly, USM's career fair website was much more informative and transparent. But USM just too far away T_T

I dont know whether if it worth to throw my current job to work in this
