Hey guys, im curious , Does connecting the phone through Cable to access the microsd , slow down the transfer rate?

Just got myself a Kingston 8gb Class 4 microsd , i understand its suppose to be a minimum of 4mb/sec? , im transferring a 1gb file over to the microsd through the cable, yet i get 2.8mb/sec maxed .

Do enlight me on this , help much appreciated, thanks biggrin.gif

If u understand windows architecture then u know why ur transfer rate is slow... Every data will transfer not directly but the data will be travel from ur pc os then to the memory queing then to processor for processing then back to the memory then to the os then to ur hdd. But this is different with mac, mac can make direct data transfer, if u want to make the transfer fast, use mac instead.

there's no way to go back without the physical button,
that's why every android phone has that 'back' button
most of the times when you exit the app by pressing the back button, the app is closed
if you press home, it is only minimized
if you want to force close an app, for reasons like the back button does not kill it or its not responding,
you can either go to the settings->application->manage application-> running and pick the apps to kill,
or just use a task killer app, such as the 'quick system info' app

now you're only on stock ROM, the things you can customized is minimal still..
wait till you go to the dark side brows.gif

Thank you. So there is the possibility if i press home, all the apps are still alive. Is that any quick way to check what is running like a task manager or do i need a 3rd party app?

No lar, won't be doing hacked ROM...this phone for wife...must be as easy as possible...sweat.gif....SenseUI+Android is great....IMO, more eye candy than iPhone....hehe...i love disturbing angry birds in the live wallpaper... tongue.gif

I think i sorta found my answer here regarding task ending/killing...

http://www.seasonsecurity.com/a/how-to-do-...-hd-195056.html

Looks like android philosophy is different from a desktop O/S, the Android O/S will kill apps automatically, so this is good i guess. smile.gif

But i still love to have a touch screen back button instead...scared if press too much back button usage will wears it out....sweat.gif...
Maybe got such an app??

if performance not so required, but you need more battery life. you may flash other kernels like this instead of default MIUI kernel. Second, using SetCPU with ur own governance profile to maximum the battery life. example: when screen off, cpu speed set to lowest.

Hey guys,

Sort of Noobish here. Wanna ask. Is it possible to back up my HTC Desire in such a way that if anything happens, I'll totally recover my phone to the way it was?

Meaning, my apps, contacts and the screen layouts etc.

Thanks a lot.

LOL of course. Its still a HTC Desire. Just that the warranty differs since its an AP set. And I guess the sets being sold now should be loaded with Froyo. Otherwise, use it for a couple of days/weeks and boot in a custom ROM! cool2.gif

yup most of the time you don't have to kill the task yourself,
you can view the running app either through third party app
or goto settings > application > manage app > goto running tab
about the back button, I don't think there is any sweat.gif
but if you're looking for lock screen button then yes

what do you mean by "anything happens"?
you can do a nandroid backup, which backup everything like you described,
but it requires you to root your phone smile.gif

So can i say that's no different between AP or SiS Set beside warranty issue?

About task manager , no need for it! fully automated android system . biggrin.gif ,

When u hold the Home button a while, a list of recent apps will pop up , u cant close them , but u can access them there , Though on HTC Desire HD rom, u get the recent apps at the notification bar ( Super easy to switch between apps ! tongue.gif)

AP warranty 1 year, SIS warranty 2 years + 1 extra if u pay more tongue.gif

AP would usually do everything the same as SIS in terms of warranty, just the period of warranty that differs. Though , when u buy the phone, the seller may tell u that LCD is 1 month , Speaker 1 month, bla bla , and only the phone itself ( antenna , etc ) is 1 year. ( this is what i experienced from buying ap sets, not sure if it applies to smartphones though )

Unless of course, ur phone is "Water" set , which i think means stolen sets from the factories
