LX-5 is slightly bulkier than S95

LX-5 got the external lens cap, which some ppl find it quite troublesome to remove it when want to take pic

basically, both S95 and LX5 are quite similar, aside from the physical size, oh S95 is slightly cheaper

Why not D7000? Rather than the older D90.

Again, why not D7000? 60D is stronger in video side actly. But 60D is also decent.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Point & shoot digi camera
Budget : sub - RM1000
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Any
Type of photography u want to do : Portraits, Casual fashion photography. I need to capture natural skin tones and details as well as full but not excessive colours.
The camera needs to also have the settings to perform well in indoor apartment high-rise setting with partial natural as well as 6400k fluorescent lighting. This will be how I use it most of the time.

Any specific models in mind? : Any ... looking for a significant improvement over my old but faithful Lumix DMC-FS4.

Any specific features u want? : Prefer a camera that has kinda above average speed, battery life, and good anti-shake features. Reasonable video recording function is also appreciated.

Also, can anyone recommend a reasonable tripod for the camera too? anything versatile, like snakepod? with bendable legs etc.

Why don't you consider A33 instead bro? Its 2.1k and brand new. Feature wise, beats the A550 slightly more.

Sony A33 DSLT / Canon 1000D / Nikon D3100.

All these are around 2k mark. That's if you want DSLR / DSLT instead.
