- Recommend me a good wheel to play Gran Turismo

- Personally, i recommend Logitech FFB wheels. There are -

** Logitech Momo, confirmed working with PS2/PS3. Entry level FFB wheel by Logitech. Only offers 200 degrees rotation.
** Logitech Driving Force Pro, confirmed working with PS2/PS3. The official GT4 Prologue wheel. Offers 900 degrees rotation.

Here's a simple guide to online MP.

**Hosting**

Everyone can host. I'm guessing Sony's server is doing the load, so what type of connection (1MB, 512KB) do not matters.
IMPORTANT - your connection must be at least NAT2

To create a lounge (session) just click on the community page and then the coffee cup icon.

There's two type of lounge - Open (everyone can join) or Custom (only friends on your list can join).

To tell your friends that you are hosting game - simply send them a message thru XMB or just post them here.

**Joining an open lobby or a custom lobby**

Its simple. Just go to community page or the open lobby button next to A-spec button. You'll be presented with a list of lobby. Just click on it, and you'll join the lobby.

**Tips***

- There's no Invitation mode to invite friends
- Use your headsets, it is easier to communicate.
- To test drive on the track, click "Drive" (second option) . When everyone is ready, the host can click "Go to Race" (First option)

well not sure about will it harm ur ps3 or not.. (but i dont think it will.. sure Polyphony Digital and sony already calculated all the possibilities)
but the installation do take some time.. the download patch would take sometime also (depends on ur connection speed)
then the installation (8gb) should take about nearly 1hour..

I have the original 80GB model and I don't think the installation will "harm" the lens. It sounded absurdly silly, right?

I guess the game will sync with your PS3 clock..
Try setting it at the XMB menu..

does it make any sense at all that a studio under Sony would give you the option of installing game data if it could harm the lens even more than usual?

if it did do more harm than good,sony would be sued all over the place doh.gif

after turbocharged installed, the extra hp power is nice but handling gets a bit harder and rough during corners and chances of crashing is high.

I have tried it on my new purchase Golf GTI and guess what, I did better lap times on the GTI stock turbo instead with the upgraded turbo tongue.gif

No. 1 . Please read about Standard and Premium model in GT5.

No. 2. There's what we call the optimum view distance of LCD TV. You can google it yourself. for example for 32 inch LCD TV, the optimum viewing distance is between 7-10 feet.

bind your gear shift? hm..i guess u r saying that you wanna configure the buttons at the front of the wheel as your gear shifting buttons..correct? erm..actually u don need to cuz DFGT has a "paddle shifting" like buttons at the back of the wheel..it is not as good as those g series wheels (25/27) but it allows you to change gears by pressing it..left side button = shift down, right side button = shift up...

got problem, bought a g27 racing wheel for the game but when i start a race everything works like padels buttons but the steering itself dont work eg the car wont turn?

try reconnect the usb to the ps3. then restart your ps3. the wheel should turns by itself once you the ps3 is turned on and also when ps3 loads the game.

hmmm

how come i felt like there are less races compared to gt4

in gt4 ... many of the car manufacturers offer races when u visit their dealership

but i cant find any in gt5 for now tongue.gif haven finis exploring

and oso the special events... at least in gt4 they have various and many types of races

in gt5... only 2-3 per category.. so little tongue.gif

well psn menu works totally fine with the wheels i get forcefeedback and can turn the wheel to navigate menu left or right.

but when i enter gt5 the wheel will turn auto once then there is no more force feedback and it wont work anymore ; ;

Just tested this game with Logitech G25..
The best thing is to drive WITHOUT whatsoever settings..
aka, no ABS and no TCS...
was able to nick better time using non-settings rather than ABS and TCS enabled...

Anyone managed to get their G27 working? Coz clutch not working and I get "neutral" everytime I want to upshift.

Btw, the book is worth it. Taught me a lot of stuff about motorsports.
Driving with all aid off is the best for better time and raw power control.

when you bumped me before that i didnt care much. The incident happened at the First Degner. you hit me from behind - causing me to loose my rear - had to countersteer like mad and loose a place.

Tell me, if you are leading in a game like F1, and somebody hit you from behind, causing you to end up in the sand trap, wouldnt you be mad also?

Only two buttons on the wheel can be used (L2 & R2), the rest have to use the shifter module button

Here's a simple guide to online MP.

**Hosting**

Everyone can host. I'm guessing Sony's server is doing the load, so what type of connection (1MB, 512KB) do not matters.
IMPORTANT - your connection must be at least NAT2

To create a lounge (session) just click on the community page and then the coffee cup icon.

There's two type of lounge - Open (everyone can join) or Custom (only friends on your list can join).

To tell your friends that you are hosting game - simply send them a message thru XMB or just post them here.

**Joining an open lobby or a custom lobby**

Its simple. Just go to community page. Click the coffee cup icon. You'll be presented with a list of lobby. Just click on it, and you'll join the lobby.

**Tips***

- There's no Invitation mode to invite friends
- Use your headsets, it is easier to communicate.
- To test drive on the track, click "Drive" (second option) . When everyone is ready, the host can click "Go to Race" (First option)

dont mind if i ask,but if the DLC cars code is used for 1 user in the PS3,is it available for other users in hte ps3 as well?
cause im using US Account but i have a R3 DLC and disc

i'm seLLing a designs of t-shirt for the Gran Turismo 5 game.
The t-shirts wiLL be BLACK coLor and wiLL order it by buLk.

The Price: RM55/shirt. The Deposit: RM30.
the price wiLL be reduce if the order increase by demand.
postage is not incLuded, depends on your Location.

i'm doing this order by buLk. as soon as i have 30 orders, i'LL gave instruction to my suppLier to start printing the t-shirts. the materiaL is cotton. it wiLL take 2 weeks for them to deliver. The material is very comfortable and nice. it wiLL not shrink, that i'LL guarantee.

the order shaLL end on 24th December. i'LL sent the order to the suppLier on 27th December.

My installation of Gran Turismo 5 starts at 22:12 and ends at 22:51 which is approximately 39 minutes. Once the installation is complete, there'll be music automatically played. Here's something that I would like to share:

kinda disappointed with g27 support in the game ..... clutch dont work u can just use h shifting without clutch...

Noteworthy: The default screen size as @ 90%. If you want to have it in FULL SCREEN, adjust its parameter to 100% in the UTILITIES tab. 1920 x 1080 59.94p.

my internet connection is too slow! to update to version 1.01 it has to download 133mb of filesize but it takes 73 minutes to complete!!! arrgghh sad.gif

that's why i never played online, huhuhu. i'm using wireless btw. but if using laptop, to download a file about 100mb it only takes about 20 minutes to complete. is it my internet connection or the ps3 itself is slow?

The blue coloured digital clock and date at the top right corner? Such message was not shown but I can assure you that mine is working accordingly, the clock and the date is correct.

You are driving standard cars at the moment. Once you've gained sufficient level, the premiums will be in your hands. I do have the same feeling too. The in-race/game graphic was a little, ermmm...less eye candy.

I got that error for the first time I booted GT5 and the time was 1 hour ahead of actual time
2nd try onwards, all synced properly

For standard cars, those are taken from GT4 and upscaled, so yeah

WTF??!! Sigh...I think they'll compensate us with the premium cars later on. But the showcase mode, it is awesome! (Daylight, Sunset, Evening)...akin to a showroom with projectored images on a projector screen in the background. That's something new for Gran Turismo series. Anyway, if you are a car enthusiast or you just love reading stuff, Gran Turismo 5 is your pick. It's a drive of art and science.

goto XMB-> Setting -> Date and Time Setting -> Date and Time -> Set via Internet
after that the error msg should be gone once u enter GT5~

It says the Photography section is not available for standard cars. I was in GT Mode thou.

mine is SG set collectors edition. i got the car (SLS AMG), the apex book, the redeem code card and the game of course. all packed in one nice box

Yes. Since my supplier had Region 3 for Collector's Edition, I grabbed it! My package includes: The game disc, a car guide, a die-cast SLS AMG and lastly a poster. Oh! Almost forgotten about the Redeem Card with 5 DLC cars. I'll post the pictures on next Monday.

I started off at Level 0 and with Cr. 20,000 I couldn't afford an NSX. How did you get your NSX? Is it in GT Mode? I picked a SILVIA from the USED CARS shop. Sigh...and the rims are outright ugly. Anyway, it's my first car in Gran Turismo 5.

evoHahn's GT5 Online Multi player guide v.2 - Update!

Here's a simple guide to online MP.

**Hosting**

Everyone can host. I'm guessing Sony's server is doing the load, so what type of connection (1MB, 512KB) do not matters.
IMPORTANT - your connection must be at least NAT2

To create a lounge (session) just click on the community page and then the coffee cup icon.

There's two type of lounge - Open (everyone can join) or Custom (only friends on your list can join).

To tell your friends that you are hosting game - simply send them a message thru XMB or just post them here.

**Joining an open lobby or a custom lobby**

Its simple. Just go to community page or the open lobby button next to A-spec button. You'll be presented with a list of lobby. Just click on it, and you'll join the lobby.

**Tips***

- There's no Invitation mode to invite friends
- Use your headsets, it is easier to communicate.
- To test drive on the track, click "Drive" (second option) . When everyone is ready, the host can click "Go to Race" (First option)

@ aeon : nope.

Some impression.

- Menu kinda confusing to newbies of the series. Old GT players will feel at home. PD should do EA like tutorial.
- The physics is DA BOMB thumbup.gif thumbup.gif couldnt care less bout graphic, because I'm not a graphic whore.
- bugs like the B license test and part of tarmac missing in night races - need to patched soon.
- Night racing in the wet thumbup.gif thumbup.gif The driving thru tunnel effect is awesome thumbup.gif thumbup.gif trying honking ... you'll hear echos.
- MP lobby was a breeze to setup. No invitation and password settings is kinda let down.
- Penalty system, eventho set to strong, still need patching. You can still bang the guard rail and still set fast times. I'm impressed with the corner cutting penalty.
- MP lobby menu, needs improvement.
- I like the BGM music when you get gold smile.gif
- I havent yet successfully use the head tracking function in A-spec and license test. Havent tried in Arcade mode and Practice Mode.
- Right now i'm using DFP, because my table is not suitable enough for it. Waiting for cockpit to arrive.
- Gran Turismo TV is nice - now I dont have to log in to US PSN just to access the videos.
- I'm yet to try the Course Maker, will do so tonite.

1. There's a manual icon to be pressed for information. I think it's much better that Electronics Arts (EA) tutorial. You just need to click and read its content.

3. Course Maker...It's half baked. Presets from existing courses and all you can do is...you just play around with the parameters. The sharpness of corners, the difficulty of the route, so on and so forth. I did fiddle with it and I was not that impressed. Polyphony Digital should hire me as a consultant for this Course Maker set. Speaking of half baked potatoes, it's the same as the dynamic weather. If you notice, there's a weather icon and there's a clock icon in certain race courses. Just a handful has the dynamic weather applied. I didn't test it but these are just my assumptions in which turns out to be correct once I've tested it.

It's not a perfect 10 game but it's a solid driving simulation.

The problem is on the BT/network card, the card already has some problem and once you update firmware, it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't work

I had issues with my Blu-Ray lens, it died 2 times, 1 time I sent to shop to replace, it doesn't last for 6 months, and now I changed a new one by myself and it works like charm, the shop must be just replacing the Blu-Ray laser only without the whole deck. My Blu-Ray dead after I updated the firmware to 3.1, a lot of people in the world had the same issue, Sony killed our BD drive doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

My game freezes... and I know that was caused by the internet connection (GT5 constantly accessing the internet). Unplugged the ethernet cable. The game work again. Plugged back the ethernet cable - thats when the game prompted me for an update LOL

Did he? Hmmm...If that's the case, I'm just nit picking then. To have a Course Maker is brilliant. An absolutely brilliant idea. Maybe Polyphony Digital can nick a few of our courses and implement it on the next Gran Turismo series. How's that? Great, right? Maybe throw in an online Course Maker contest or some sort. It has its potential there.

evo...ooohhh same here, i saw that the News on the home page for Gt5 career did mention network issue or congestion and they did say to play off line. Like u i noticed sometimes it hangs and if one were to read the news on the main page u just sign out and it works like a charm.

wat a waste to keep on running online all the time...the game very nice, i dunno how to compare it against forza though both oso nice game with own distinct characteristics.

i find it hard to control when online some use the calsonic where by i use the stealth audi and straight phail hahahahah car got >600 hp oso can loose to 490 ++ hp car....(driver sucks as well)

For your case, just change the network card which controls your WiFi, BT and LAN, it's cheap if you know how to change yourself

hm..what i have read is related to the following:

1) Improve Damage Realism
2) MP - Leaderboard & Invitation
3) Some other patches & bugs fixes to smoothen the gameplay (especially on the regular connection to the internet that slows the offline gameplay)

I got these from various sources thru other forums and articles..so not sure it is true or not... but if these are the fixes, it should make GT5 even greater!!! rclxms.gif

My views on this
- Graphics is kinda blegh. I was kinda expecting more, but I forgot PS3 is kinda aincent and can't really do all this shebangs that you can see on the PC. they need this for the PC quickly. Other than that, it's quite cool. Effects are nicely done, and unlike Codies, the colours looks NATURAL. GOD I HATE CODIES AND THEIR BLOOM. THANK YOU POLYPHONY!

- Controls. I am using the G25, and I must say it's quite good to see that it works straight away. No steering lag (deadzone=0 on simulation woohooo!! SCREW YOU CODIES!). But lack of customising is saddening. I can't even set the steering degrees of my G25, as I prefer it to be more sensitive.

- Physics. Kinda ok'ish, but since this is not really a full blown sim I can understand. Cars tend to not behave like you expect it would some times. Suprisingly Lotus Elise is hard to drive. Wonder why

- Sounds. Immersive, awesome. Soundtrack is great, and you can hear the car's engine sound bounces back from the trackside stuffs

- Penalties. Crap. I got bumped off the track by another car and was disqualified? WTF is that? AI is kinda too enthutiastic as well. If you were racing a real person, you'd expect him/her to give the corner. BUt noooo, they still want to grind you, and making BOTH slower.

- Menu. Old. Slow. Not intuitive. They need to revamp this. make shortcuts for important places. I mean why do I need to go back -> back -> back -> back just to get back to garage, when I realised I used a wrong car?

yeah on streamyx 1MB (but on my router page it stated 2048 downstream sweat.gif ) Unifi will available next year in my area.

No problem so far. The best experience i had was torrent-ing 2GB file in 30 minutes and playing CS on SG server with a ping of 5ms

- Weight transfer is more prominent in this game. Thats why
- AI has long been the bane of this series. Thats why GT is the Driving Simulator, not Racing Simulator

I think the AI played too much Need for Speed:Hot Pursuit...Hence the grinding was brought in Gran Turismo 5 as well.

G25/G27 will not going to be officially supported in GT5 because they registered the DFGT trademark as GT official wheel, so I don't think they are going to pay another time to make G25/G27 official wheel as they will kill their own products!

I think both of you misunderstood with my words. With the patches available, you know they've left bits and bytes here and there and with the pressure building up, they have to release it sooner or later. With this in effect, don't you think it's served with haste? I admit this is just a thought of mine but I just couldn't help it by thinking.

Mind you I do not just blindly play games, I analyse, study and learn from them too. Well, like I said before, it's a drive for perfection. The driving itself is a self serving journey and the destination has yet to be reached. Simulator and encyclopedia in a package??!! Only Gran Turismo. Only Kazunori Yamauchi and his team in Polyphony Digital can offer.

me too,just download 1.01 patch yesterday but then another 1.02 patch again when i switch on my ps3 doh.gif

had been fans of the series since GT1.... but really i do notice the the graphic do glitches a lot compare to GT5 prologue.... most obvious is if you purchase the mazda miata (the yellow pain job) from the used car section... this car really look like a GT4 polygon model... the wheel frame is so rough!!! not mention that not having cockpit view tongue.gif the reflection on the car is also low in quality... really wonder why?

and most of car shadow that keep flashes on the ground really is an eye-sore

Same medium, aka the Blu-Ray but with more cars. thus they need to cut some corners on the amount of data that can be fitted in the game.

standard car are lower quality, just like proton car that sell locally is lower quality than those that is exported to UK tongue.gif

i wont complain much since they put in 1000 cars with 200 of them is premium, which game you can find so many cars? biggrin.gif

this 133mb sure takes its time...normally 133 can finish in 15-30mins

My summary for DFGT and G27 before i decide to buy any of them:

DFGT>
1. Official wheel
2. FFB
3. PS3 compatible. No need to determine which button is what
4. CHeap ma

G27>
1. Six shifter.
2. Leather grip.
3. Nicer force feedback.
4. Need to determine which button is which.
5. Better force feedback.
6. RPM light.
4. Adjustable clutch, brake and gas pedal

Was really planning to buy G27 but the feedback from you guys made me changed my mind. Please tell me if what i wrote is incorrect. Planning to buy the wheel next week. Thanx

I've just started late last night. Played a few rounds of License and it's almost Level 3 for me. Try and grab Gold and you see your experience points shooting up.

B-Spec is more of a strategy-based mode. Here, you’re not actually behind the wheel of a car, but rather, you’re the Team Director. Think of it like you are José Mourinho, but in a driving simulation game.
