well not sure about will it harm ur ps3 or not.. (but i dont think it will.. sure Polyphony Digital and sony already calculated all the possibilities)
but the installation do take some time.. the download patch would take sometime also (depends on ur connection speed)
then the installation (8gb) should take about nearly 1hour..

tried to find the setting for this buy i failed to located it..
still not used with the gt5 interface yet...
