I have got mine. It took about two weeks to reach MY from US. It arrived in normal envelope with thin air bubble wrap. Custom did inspect it though as the envelope was a bit torn and stamped 'with Custom Malaysia' or something like that.

I am not too sure on the custom procedure. However, you may have to pay sales tax of 10% for any purchase above RM500. Perhaps other members of this forum can enlighten on this.

By the way how much it cost you for the Hack?

I didn't bought the casing, so I need to go to Jalan Pasar afterward. Need to put them into a single enclosure. I've another project which need an enclosure too, a WSPR transmitter. Probably will visit Jln Pasar once I got both of them in my hands.

BTW, ordered all the cable patches and converters from ebay this morning, hope they'll arrive at the same time.

I don't know what will the packaging be like since it includes the enclosure. I don't think that they will use normal envelope.

Can you check for me the price of RG58 per metre at Pasar Road, please. I should have bought the cable when I was there last week.

Have you got your SDR dongle? I've just ordered HackRF and wondering what kind of packaging they'll use. I don't want to go an answer Custom's questions..

HackRF One:
Nice choice, and one of my wishlist's shortlist. smile.gif It can TX 0.5 Watt, so, RF Amp is needed for more ooomph! smile.gif

BTW, I visited 9M2NZ's house in Semenyih, and I saw him putting auido distributor component/board into a nice casing. I wonder where he got the casing.. smile.gif

Loofking forward for your review.

Yup, it can transmit with the max of 15dBm on certain frequencies (translated to around 32mW - power of WIFI). Surely need an external amplifier if we wanted to really use it as transmitter.

Anyway, the one you were talking about at 9M2NZ house should be the cedum cedum ciss ciss thingy, ESSB (extended SSSB - HIFI quality) on HF. The audio from the mic will be processed and will take unusual wide bandwidth to cover the ESSB (3kHz and above), the usual audio bandwidth for SSB will be around 2.4kHz. There are quite a number of hams in Malaysia with this kind of setup and you can hear them usually on 40m band. The casing for the audio processor I believe will be as those found for PA setup, equipment/audio rack as I believe what it is called. Illuminated in blue, it is just nice like in a real studio.

BTW, just got an update from Nooelec saying my hackrf has been shipped, but in a package, so I believe it will be in a box. Hope it will pass the custom w/o any problem.

I am not too sure about mine and I did not ask NooElec. But from the tracking it says - Service Type: International Letter. It is the same service type when I bought the dongle. How do you know that yours is in a package?

It says service type First Class Package International and not letter wink.gif Oh, I checked again, the service type does say international letter. So, just wait and see. It has been picked up now and will just wait for the next two weeks for the package to arrive.

Wow Wiraone,

I wanted to buy one but it is pain in the ass for a USD400 card, (kena simpan duit dekat tabung dulu macam isteri orang tu untuk beli bag hermes)

Please download a pre-build ISO with GNU radio, the HackRF driver should be compiled inside the distro.

I just bought the SDR dongle from NooElec. Managed to get it running. However, the antenna connector is MCX rather than BNC which is what normally we have.

Anybody been to Pasar Road to get the MCX to BNC converter?

I have encountered the problem like you too, the cable I used is custom made by a shop @ jalan pasar, along the public bank.
Thanks to google streetview, The shop is the red circled shop, just tell them you need to custom the cable, mine did it there.

Anybody here have an idea which company or what company is using 138.550 MHz?

Seems that they are communicating for the entire KL and Klang Valley.

Not an amateur frequency, not related to us and the hobby and shouldn't be discussed here I believe.
