do consider whether are you going to need that xtra volume
an AD50 is not much louder thanan AD30...
a 300w amp is only twice as loud as a 30w amp...
im sure some1 here has mentioned it before
summor if its strictly for bedroom practice it'll be pretty damn loud and if its for jamming with a drummer... a 50w SS isnt powerful enough for that

I used my 15 watter for medium gigs and it worked fine lol! The AD50VT's good enough for small to medium gigs (After all, you're cranking the damn thing up!). In case you're playing in larger venues, just mic the thing up.

If you're still in doubt, the thing comes with a speaker output. Eg. If you want a true Marshall amp sound, just hook it up to one of those Marshall 4x12 cabs & voila!

Bedroom practises??? Turn to the back of the AD50VT and you'ill see an 'Adjustable Output Wattage' (Not available in the AD15VT tho). It saturates the poweramp's output wattage . In other words, it's a volume control. This means that you could crank the amp up at bedroom level. You don't have to substitute tone for volume now!!! Otherwise get a pair of headphones and plug it into the phones out. Your neighbours will love you. smile.gif

I've done my homework Evo.com tongue.gif I've downloaded all the video clips, audio clips and even the manual from various places. If you guys want, I can upload as a torrent and post it here. thumbup.gif

Oh yeah, the AD50VT has a hidden noise gate too. It's only touched lightly in the manual.

No joke. Remember our school hall? Suan Aik used his Peavey amps for all his gigs too. Sometimes he mic it up, sometimes he doesn't, but it was loud enough. But it won't sound as good as being mic'ed up. Then again you know our school's PA.

LOL I only check out that stuff I'm considering getting. I've tried the Line 6 30watt Spider and it has an impressive clean sound. The Metal setting's pretty good but I have no use for that. I tried the AD30VT but didn't find much love with it, sad.gif determined to try that again! tongue.gif

wah led zep. mmg awesome info! thx alot! yeah another feature that sets the AD50 and the AD30 is the external speaker support.. who cares if it doest supply enough wattage for gigs? there's the external speaker support.. and for now, i'm not doing gigs, heck, i dont even haf a proper band..

erm, ledzep, can give ur opinion on the mesa modeller of the vox? and what's a noise gate?

Haha... my ears are not that goodlar... to my ears the Tweed, Black, Boutique Clean settings sound very very impressive (Blues guitarists will love this). I wasn't very sure about the rest, not much time to play with them that day. Though I've read reviews saying that the HiGain models are very impressive, especially the nu-metal settings which nail the scooped-mid sound perfectly.

nick_drake has the AD30VT, perhaps you should ask him for comments. thumbup.gif

Do you want the clips? It won't take long for me to post. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Oh really? Hah... I wanna try osolar lol... somehow trying it in guitar stores doesn't cut it. tongue.gif

Noise gate's a noise eliminator, you'ill lose some sustain if you turn up the nose gate. Just turn if off if you wanna hear the amp models in full potential. smile.gif

Btw, CK Music doesn't have the AD50VT in stock. You probably have to order it at least 1 month in advance heh. When are you getting it? Early next year? If so, we both go orderlar lol. tongue.gif

Hah, don't be like me. Focus on studies now and don't let GAS occupy your time. tongue.gif If you're getting it earlier, mind if I drop by to give it a test run? tongue.gif tongue.gif

Forgotten about the AD15VT. The AD30VT's RM900 after discount tho (Retail RM1000). So the 15 should be RM500-700 lar heh.

wah...a lot of talk on the ad series! cool!...

ok since led zep has the ad 50..and has given much info abt it...im not going to say much. but, its an 8 ohm output right? it wont handle 4x12s i heard..only 2X12s...correct me if im wrong.

the ad30 doesnt hv a speaker out. it is very very loud and can be miked up and everything will be okay. i hv asked the guitarist of local indie band 'flatline', he owns the same amp too and i saw him gig with the ad30. he said its loud enough for small/medium clubs with ease. anything larger...mike. there u go. smile.gif honestly, i was torn between the ad50 and 30 before buying...but due to money, i just got the ad30. but im very satisfied.

nerd: the noise gate shuns out unwanted buzz...but also eats ur sustain,(its adjustable, just find ur sweet spot) if u back off the volume knob, clean sounds are hard to achieve. normally i turn it off.(noise gate). the mesa modeller is good. its my fav actually. i use it the most. u hv to really tinker with the eq knobs to get a sweet spot out of it. and u hv to keep tinkering at different volumes.i found that out just today when i cranked it up at my bassists and found it too sharp. other than that..the tone is great. dynamics are good too. considering the poweramp tube. the perfect place for a tube in a hybrid. other than the mesa, i favor the jcm 800 and ac30 models too. but its ultimately ur taste lahhh...smile.gif
*anything else u wanna knw...feel free to ask me. smile.gif test drive..sure smile.gif

led zep...i frequent the mx forums most of the time. they all hate the line6 spiders. tho i hvnt tried it out, i do believe that when many ppl give an amp a bad name...then it shld be true. its cold, sterile , and metallic. and at the same price as the ad series...idk why ppl still think of that solid state. no offense tho. smile.gif just led zep...dont write the ad30 off so fast. its preset sucks. u hv to tinker alot to get good sounds. once u hit a sweet spot...idk..u'll nvr go back? biggrin.gif yah...honestly..the ad30 doesnt sound good out of the box. but TINKER! biggrin.gif

yah..i knw...thts why i just edited that post. biggrin.gif

yes! tinker the hell outta that eq. and the gain levels too. with the mesa, the gain is tremendous. so i just leave it at 11 oclock..i can get enough crunch for my pop rock..but not so with ur metal.smile.gif

another thing with the ad30 and 50(not 15) , is that u crank up the two volume knobs. master and volume. this cooks the power tube..in a good way.biggrin.gif then use the wattage selector behind to control the volume. this is actually advocated by the folks at vox itself in the manual. biggrin.gif so u get that tuuubeeey like scream!:D sorry. im just so excited over my baby.

no nerd. many ppl mistake the ad's tube to be in the preamp section. it is a preamp tube tho..but stuck at the power amp stage of the circuit. if u read the manual online, u'll find out more. digital modeling preamp for tone+tube power amp for warmth=sex. biggrin.gif

but it actually is more complicated..the manual will get u all geeky.biggrin.gif
