nice to have a new version guys...congrats

i recently tripped over a STAGG L320 (les paul copy) quite cheap and looks not bad... how about it guys...
i found one bad thing about it from some online reviews that the sustain of the tune is bad... can you explain this to me in words a beginner can understand :-P

and in general what do you guys think about it for a low budget and beginner person like me

sustain = how long the note can last

its one of the harder thigns to test in guitar really, on of the ways is to unhook your guitar from the amp and then pick a string while counting how long the note lasts, following that press the 12th fret and pick that same string and count. this will test the acoustic sustain of the guitar.

the problems of testing sustain is that normally you are in a noisy environment (by far most major guitar shops are noisy as hell), you have to keep track of how long the note lasts.

however there are also other factors "eletric" sustain comes from pickups, more powerful the longer but it doesnt mean better. my fender has the best natrual acoustic sustain while my blackjack has the best eletric sustain.

other things that cause issues are amps, better amps better sustain.

but the reason why people b**** about natural sustain soo much is that its the basic, so if you have natural sustain you can swap pickups or amps for better "eletric" sustain.

ARGH! just out of the top 5. i am disappoint.

btw what reverb pedals do you guys use? My little vox only has tone and volume controls so I'm looking for a reverb to go with it. Was thinking either the malekko chicklet or digitech hardwire reverb, since I can't afford a strymon and I really wouldn't need all the tweaking possibilities..

user posted image

but i'm already pretty set on the malekko. i mean look at it, its PINK!

Wah , you survey all the way to rondo . lol .

It is never worth it to import just one guitar by yourself , especially at your budget .
Wait for 1st December Clearance sales by local stores lah .

Damn, terlepas 1st oage! Anyway, I wanna ask you guys, what amps would you recommend with fx loop or pedal friendly amps? I finally tried the Morisson amp I talked about in the previous thread, my rupanya my POD is a fu*king beast, haha. Didn't buy it though cos I find it a little too expensive for a China amp.

don't think I need that many functions for reverb, as I normally either dial in a bit, or go full hall and get those U2/Kings of Leon sound.

Chicklet sounds goooooood. and its PINK!

btw where'd you get yours from? I'm gonna try to fetch one from Singapore.

The EHX Freeze sounds interesting xD

What do you guys think?

I'm planning to pick up a few things by the end of next month... at the top of my list would be these smile.gif

1. Fulltone GT500
2. Cioks Schizophrenic Power Supply
3. A wah. Possibly a Crybaby smile.gif or a Morley. Something used would be better.

Hairline scratches? Take it to a good auto detailer to be buffed out with a quality polishing compound.

this 2 guitar diff style wor..
one is semi hollow, warm and organic tone. suitable for jazz.
squier tele custom? the one with humbuckers? not really sure. but normal telecaster with single coils
got the tone that is full of characteristic. wild.

lol true.
but i would use the guitar for more of pop punk and blues (i play many genres)

so i was thinking which would be better suited.
i like the look of the squier, and the playability, and the neck is just amazing.
but the epi is perfect for damn near anything.
so which one,or even...both?!

guys, advice me on this okay.

I will get my first Electric Guitar(from parents) next month.
Then maybe:
Option 1:
january/february buy a 1x12/2x12/4x12(depends on budget) speaker cabinet connect to my Roland MicroCube for live gigs. Then maybe end of year buy a amp head.

Option 2: January/february buy a 75w combo amp. most probably peavey/Line 6

What do you guys think about that?

hi,

i need advise. I jst started playing the acoustic guitar. It was on medium action before setup and i'm gonna set it to low action.

However, there's this other thing. string gauge. It's stock on 12. Stick with it or go 11 or 10 extra light? It's a dreadnaught.

I mostly finger pick.

depends on the type of sound you wanna go for in your music.
the lighter the gauge, the brighter the tone you get outta your guitar.

??

why do you need a speaker cab when the micro cube has only 4 watts? based on my understanding unelss the speakers have got lower power req, it would be worse

get a combo,

35w amp for 190?
what?
wait,what's the amp for?
ask why did the earlier seller sell the amp.
if he say cz never use bla bla bla, caution dude.
might be broken.
get someone to follow you to the store,a pro.
ask him to determine whether it's worth it.
pics would've helped though.

Cost of buffing a guitar body at a autodetailer shop? I have no idea whatsover. If you strip off the hardware
for them, it shouldn't be much.

Agreed with +3kk! there. RM190.00 should be acceptable price for Prince amp although you could ask whether they could reduce the price a bit. Their price is not usually fixed. Used to have Prince Adder 15w when I first started playing electric guitar. Clean quite decent but the in-built distortion is horrible. Probably due to my Maison guitar as well.

What compressors/sustainers do you guys use? Planning to build up my pedal collection biggrin.gif

ESP>Wah?>Compressor?>Fulltone GT-500/MXR Doubleshot>Electro Harmonix Metal Muff> Chorus/Flanger/Phaser>Delay?> Noise Gate> Amp smile.gif

Priorities are the Fulltone/Doubleshot for lighter distortion, then the Compressor, the Wah, then a power supply then the delay xD then whatever else xD

I have the Metal Muff for my heavy distortion already... so yeah.

Dunlop, cause it's really versatile, but I read reviews stating that it has some hardware issues. can't remember the specifics though.

never tried a morley, would like to though.

the wylde crybaby's sweep feels kinda limited, doesn't do funk or that hendrix thing very well imo.

out of the list i'd go for the crybaby 535Q.

if i'm on a tight budget I'd get a vox 487A wah, not much difference compared to an old original vox wah. and if I have the cash I'll go for a RMC wah, which one I still haven't decided.

hi,

i need advise. I jst started playing the acoustic guitar. It was on medium action before setup and i'm gonna set it to low action.

However, there's this other thing. string gauge. It's stock on 12. Stick with it or go 11 or 10 extra light? It's a dreadnaught.

I mostly finger pick.
*
i saw someone commenting that lighter strings give brighter sound which i think the fact is not like that.
heavier string gauge just got better sound and since the tension is higher, the sound is brighter and volume is bigger.
else why ppl would get a heavy gauge string to torture themself rather than the light string gauge that plays and sound good?

famous fingerpickers uses heavy string gauge, eg. Kotaro Oshio uses Dean Markley 0.12.

its up to your preference though, i started playing on a 0.12 and when i try lighter string gauge afterwards, it feels so much less power
and everything just feel weak to me. volume etc.

i think its more that with lighter strings, the bass doesnt come out as much so its perceived as being brighter.
heavier strings it brings out more of the full range.
then again, depends what brand and material the string is made from also.

Dreadnought guitar should use at least 12 gauge. Normally people choose strings gauge based on the type of the guitar. Dreadnought guitars are built and designed to be played with medium gauge strings because dreadnought can handle greater tension than other smaller size guitar. I do not recommend light or extra light gauge strings on your dreadnought, they barely resonate the soundboard, you gonna sacrifice the sound of your guitar. So, stick with the 12 gauge.

Agree! Get reasonably priced one. Don't get a super cheap one, it'll probably suck and it will demotivate you.

So I've been trying to understand modes for awhile, and I THINK it's something like this. A mode is like a scale that starts on a different note of the major scale to give it a different sound. So what if the backing track I'm trying to play over is not a major key, but rather a minor? How do I apply modes over minor keys? Sorry if I don't make sense at all, all this theory stuff is making my mind go retarded.

Not at the moment. If have also, cannot compete with CK Music. Maybe some other big brothers here can help you. Good luck and happy shopping.

PS: Just to share, I remember 10 years ago when I was a kid, went to Woh Fatt and ask the handsome boy but now an uncle. Boss, what is the cheapest guitar you have, and he showed me an SX which I assume is the first SX Electric Guitar because it doesn't have any Model or what so ever only a dinstintive Cicak inlay on the finger board. Keep it till now and still using it.

Muahahah

a scale has 7 sets of notes right? say the backing track is in E minor, but you wanna play it over a A minor/ C major scale. you'd would start with the E note, giving it a dorian feel. its basically coming in with the right notes over the backing track, for instance your first note could be a B over a G major backing track. i hope you'll understand what i'm trying to get across sweat.gif

Btw, just read the reply by Apple_darreN regarding my inquiry on where to get epi lp standard and I'm particularly interested in shops than online salesman. Which days is The Guitar Store is open (Are they open on public holidays and sundays too?). Just let me know on the days. Another inquiry: Are the epis in TGS at a reasonable price? because i read a post that rhapsody in mid valley sells epis overpriced.

PS: Is online buying safe? like from deadeye or even sandman guitar store? Just curious since Epiphone LP standard are such a pain in the a$$ to find in shops. Most of the time i see over priced epis or worse cheap "no name" brands.

Pls reply regarding this issue. Need to know urgently. All help are greatly appreciated tongue.gif

cant try it at shop ^.^ the seller never allow me to test it unless i buy it...

I don't remember the exact model for sx.but it looks a near copy of an lp.

the 2nd i said was squier kan?
than one are all fender copies, but argubly the best and most trusted ones, because they are liscensed under fender themselves.

Godis never heard before, godin got la.don't know bout pricing for godins, but they are good imo.

cort is a good quality guitar, can't go wrong with them rclxms.gif

the best i can say,if you want a guitar under 800,

ibanez, squier, les paul special 2,sx and cort.
godin i don't know the price, and the quality of the low end ones hmm.gif

any guitar can be used, but for hollow bodies it all depends if u can control the feedback or not.

pickups are one part...but not the only part.
listen to mark morton / lamb of god and their guitars have a very classic rock sound due to the SD 59's...but they obviously play metal.
most ppl started with EMGs for metal cos they dont feedback at very high gain.

Its a BIG RESOUNDING YES.

In one of the older Guitarist/Guitar World/Guitar Player magazines that I have at home (which I'll refer to later, maybe tomorrow or something once I dig it out) there is a guy who uses a full hollow body V to play metal.

Its not how you control the feedback or the tones, its how you USE them to your advantage wink.gif By using hollows, you can get more sustain, clearer harmonics and feedback from WHEREVER! biggrin.gif

hi all,

just a quick question. Is it ok if I plug my multi effect output into 1/4" amplifier Aux input to 'bypass' the preamp amplifier? will it spoil the the Aux input or my amplifier ?

Guitar > Multi-effect> 1/4" input AUX amplifier

thanks sweat.gif

Any tips for preventing your guitar strings to be easily broken?

Broke two strings already from the same guitar within 2 weeks. sad.gif

Thanks for the reply. Nope, not the same string. Just seems weird that I've broken two strings in a relative quick session.

Could it be the string tension too high? Neck scale? Weather condition?

Never got this problem with my first guitar.

Yup, I saw it too. US$300-500 per copy from China if I'm not mistaken. A manufacturer contacted me once asking me if I wanted to buy a shipment of fake ESPs.

string tension usually the tighter ones last longer cos they're thicker.
also diff brands have diff quality.
next time take note where the strings break, could be wrongly cut nut, sharp bridge saddles etc...or just bring it to a tech somewhere ask him go over places where strings break and see if they need to be smoothed out.

Thanks for the reply again. Didn't have that problem with the stock strings, but only happened when I started to change the string. Will investigate further.

I doubt it. Most beginner guitars for that price aren't meant to be whammied.

if memory serves me right it goes like that

Cm

i-ii-iiib
C G Eb

and when we deal with 7 chords there are two kinds a minor 7th and a major 7th

so what you have is

i-ii-iiib-vii
C G Eb B

this is a C Minor Major 7th, which goes to a Cm+7maj

but if its a minor 7th, then the vii becomes a viib, and you get a standard Cm7, which comes to

i-ii-iiib-viib
C G Eb Bb

this applies for C Major (7/7b) chords structures as well,

Mate, honestly, unless you had cash to burn and really WANTED it so much, I suggest you don't ship it.

Your biggest problem, is shipping. It's EXTREMELY expensive as we're halfway across the world. Perhaps up to US$200-300 for a halfstack? I'm not so sure. It costed US$100 for me to ship about 2 20% cymbals from Turkey, so you get the idea smile.gif

I believe there is a ten % sales tax, but I don't know if you'll be charged that.

This is the brief shipping price from Sam ash.

Electric Guitars - US$100
Acoustic and Bass Guitar - US$135
Amplifiers - US$ 135 for combos. I'm not sure about stacks.

shipped using Fedex. will arrive less than a week after payment using paypal/CC

if the tax is 10%, its a real deal IMO.

your term is correct, but the way its written is not.
should be Cm7+, but called a C minor with major seventh.

Tried the night train.
I wouldn't say it's made for metal, but has that nice classic rock crunch.
For me, it's pretty decent. Throw on the Zakk Wylde Overdrive in front of it and I get a nice crunch going on.

I wouldn't recommend it for skull crushing metal though....... for that budget, I'd go with a solid state metal amp or even the Vox VT Valvetronic series.

The only lunch box amp that I felt worthy enough for high gain metal would be the Mesa/Boogie Transatlantic....... unfortunately, that can buy a small JCM2000 combo already tongue.gif

TBH, I never did like Boss distortion pedals. Be it the analog ones or the models in the ME-70. Try to invest on a better amp. It'll benefit you in the long run. I know I should've done that. If you insist, then perhaps consider the EHX Metal Muff. Or better, the Zoom Tri-metal or Landmine distortion pedal.

I'm kinda in a tough situation here.. Budget for this christmas is RM2000 or RM2500 if I get 6/7A in PMR.

My plans: Get a ESP LTD FX 260 NS rclxms.gif RM1500+ ship from sam ash. Then use RM500 to get pedals. OR buy the LTD and sell my micro cube for something bigger.

Don't ask me about the RM2500. I don't think i'll get those results... :/

I just want a Distorted pedal, a Wah pedal and a Overdrive pedal. total cost around RM900? BOSS ME-70 has almost everything and cost about RM1200? But I heard bad things about it produces a "digital" sound.

RM2500 is pretty high xD

Hmm... Say after tax and all your FX is RM1.7k. TAX (10%?)

You'll have about 300 bucks. I suggest, save up a bit more, pull in the money from your sales, and get a used multi-effects board. Then you can start figuring out your sound. smile.gif

Hmm... How was your PMR? What subject do you think you'll go down on?

RM2500 high? yeah.. quite..

I've made out my mind to get the EHX Micro Metal Muff. PMR was kinda ok. I'm not sure on the subjects. Got only 1 A from school trial.. yeah.. thats the result of becoming a bedroom wanker i guess.. laugh.gif

on distortion

good gain comes from amps not pedals. sure heaps of popular guitarists "endorse" their pedals, but heck most of them use super high end tube amps that have got blistering beautiful distortion. (you'd find that their tone comes from mesa's than boss's) you can slap a boss mt-2, ds-1 etc etc infront of a sub-standard practice amp and you might still get someting passable.

personally i hate boss, i had a mt-2 and that was ear blister, i cant dial anything sweet out of it. (seriously i dont know whats the hype)

the core point is that the effects have to "fit" your system, slap a MT-2 to a strat and put it through a vox and youd get disappointed. same as you place a ESP with actives to an OD through a peavey, the od wont be sweet.

then again im not a pedal freak so i tend to have an anti-pedal bias

Anti pedal person advices me on pedals.. ok. smile.gif I've set my targets on the Metal Muff.. It has the Slipknot kinda Death-Metal-ish sound on it. There's a guy on youtube who demoed it with a Fender 59' amp with no signs of distortion buttons nor gain. So, i think its REALLY good. I'm running through my Micro Cube for now. Kumpul money agen for bigger ones.. or maybe sell it. smile.gif any buyers? brows.gif

imo, Tesla's are in the same level as other Korean replacement pups. but perhaps the best among them.. unstable n wayyy far beyond the sound dat they are trying to clone

however it's still a good alternative for those who are in tight budget

Ohh .. What do you mean by unstable ? Pickups also can be unstable ? ohmy.gif But I think each pickups has each own characteristics .. not to say clone but has its own specialty compared to the other pickups that are trying to produce the similar tone ..

just to share

craftsman GS100 HB with LINE 6 Spider IV 15W set cost me RM926 (actually cost my wife as it is a gift for my birthday hehehe)

sweet looking and sweet sounding as well

the amp is equipped by some sound effects but due to my zero experience with electric guitar it will take me some time to get used to it...

i would like to take this chance to all the people here that advised me and answered my beginner (annoying) questions

thank you all

After reading all the reviews and hearing them for myself, I've finally taken the plunge and asked Clement to reserve a Bare Knuckle Painkiller for me. After I install, I'll let you know biggrin.gif

Either ways, I'm planning to put a DiMarzio ToneZone S and a DiMarzio Area 58' in the neck and middle pickup slots respectively. What do you guys think?

Either that, or Seymour Duncan Hotrails in the middle and an SD Vintage Staggered in the neck smile.gif

TBH, I never did like Boss distortion pedals. Be it the analog ones or the models in the ME-70. Try to invest on a better amp. It'll benefit you in the long run. I know I should've done that. If you insist, then perhaps consider the EHX Metal Muff. Or better, the Zoom Tri-metal or Landmine distortion pedal.

reminds me of my first adventure into electric guitars. I paid more for my amp rather than my first guitar.

Saw the logic that i can upgrade my guitars later but maintain my amp.

Yes smile.gif Its like pickups lah biggrin.gif

No matter how good pickups sound (in this case Celestion speakers), they sound different depending on the guitar you put them in, like the shape of the guitar, the size of the guitar, the wood of the guitar.. In this case, it would be slant/straight cab, front loading or rear loading, and material used to construct smile.gif

And do you need a 4x12 for home use mate? wink.gif HAHAHAHA!

no... LoL. for gig. My band got humiliated(but we still somehow won) in the so-called after PMR BOTB. Me on my Roland Microcube (Bangga wei) and my other guitarist on his Ibanez TBH30 against vocal through hall PA and drums. We planned to put the amps through the PA, but there was no mixer. very ciplak i know. we still, well, win. biggrin.gif

My plan is:
1st. Connect Microcube with 4x12 Speaker cab for live gig
then.when got money, buy an amp head then connect to the speaker cab. done.

assuming a 4x12 cabs which can receive a 300W signal from a head.. Each speaker are able to (meant to) burst 75W of signal..

then, u can wonder how an mcube kranked to amplifies only two speaker (which is 1W each speaker).. u will only get either a low quality/deep sound or nothing at all (i presume)

i guess bcos in solid state amp, the transistor can be easily burn out when u trying to boost the 1W sound thru a 75W speaker...

2W MicroCube sure can do busking or indoor micro-gig where there's ain't much ambient noise to kill the amp's sound..
miking thru mixer also wud do..
sounds great or cool, but from a layman's ear lah.. :|

it's totally a different thing between amplifying a microcube by
- directly thru a 4x12 or any multy big speakers
or
- miking thru mixer/power amp/compressor then thru PA's speaker

imo, using small amp/head 2~10W is not exactly a burn/blow problem (when u hook it to big cabs/speakers..)

the problem is the sound quality n volume..
Probably u'll use pedals/ distortion to boost the sound n this will make the small amp/head easier to burns.. especially solid-state or hybrid one..

If full tube, no prob i guess..

Let an expert here share their experience lah.. tongue.gif

yea nux ask gapnap la... tongue.gif
but for gigging...if my choice i would just get any of the decent multifx out there like the vox tonelabs and run it thru the PA.
anyway, even a 30w amp mic'ed up is decent enough for a less than 500 crowd...

and lets say u do get a 4x12 cab...u going to buy a van also to bring it along for gigs?
if not, then just to play at home? a 4x12 is abit overkill for home practice rite?

r u sure? sweat.gif

using the headphone jack can drive a sound thru a 4x12 cabs ah?
headphone/rec output can drive a sound on 4 big speakers?

cigar box or any other amp-pedal are different.. bcos the output jack is an extension/speaker out

dats y i'm guessing, continuous misuse of them (both) will burn/blow/destroy either one of it..
i dunno whistling.gif

unless u mod or rewire the mcube's speaker to send to the cabs, i dun think
it's worth to try n sacrifice either one of them.. the cabs or the mcube

The Nux amp is great. Gapnap demo'd it for a my self and KissMyAxe yesterday.

Its not a professional level amp, but it certainly is loud enough, and with much better tone than the Cubes.

How do i clean the green gunk on my rosewood fretboard?
I have strings on them, do I have to take them out when cleaning?
*
Use steel wool to scrap out the dirt on ur fingerboard. Make sure you cover ur electronics with cloth or masking tape when doing that. the steel from the steelwool might effect ur electronics. Once finished, apply some lemon oil or non-waxed furniture cleaner.

Hey guys smile.gif

Here's my pedalboard plan for the future biggrin.gif

Its not confirmed or anything, and if a better deal crops up I might take it instead, but I find its easier to work with a goal in mind.

Boss CS3/Rocktron Hush (RM250-RM300) > Morley Classic Wah (RM320) > Digitech Whammy (RM900) > Electro Harmonix Nano Metal Muff Distortion (already in hand) > Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi Distortion/Sustainer (RM395) > Fulltone GT-500 Overdrive/Distortion (on the way) > Boss CE-5 Stereo Chorus (RM360) > Electro Harmonix Small Stone Phaser (RM? Can someone please help me check?) > Boss DD7/Electro Harmonix Memory Boy/ Way Huge Aqua Puss (RM630) or a more affordable delay smile.gif > Electro Harmonix Holy Grail (RM650)

Now that's just preliminary so nothing confirmed yet, but what do you guys think?

Probably will get the wah first, then everything else smile.gif

Steel wool will scratch the fretboard...and is more for polishing the frets.
ppl cover the pickups cos the steel wool finer particles will get attracted to it due to pickup magnet.
and that is why the better techs use copper wool.

HAHAHAHA! Subject to change lah wink.gif

I tried out jcyh's pedalboard(s) yesterday, and instead of the wah, the Boss Volume control seems a more viable option, and would cancel out the Morley problem as stated by bshen.

The Digital Dimension chorus also sounds pretty good smile.gif

U could manage a messy board with an effects loop switch. The Radial BigShot EFX is a particularly good one, it allows u to switch between effect loops, even mix them together.

aiyoh, thats why its called a nighthawk.
its a 90s model that died off and now being brought back again.
it was a pretty good guitar, but it sounds more fender-ish cos of the 25.5" scale length.

Hey guys, have a question here bout amps.
Do you think a 60 W RMS @ 8 Ω with a 10" Speaker (Vox VT40+) is better or a 50W RMS @8 ohms with a 12" speaker(VOX VT50).

Does bigger speakers make amp sound better?
Does 10 Watts difference make any loudness different?
Thanks =D!

But tbh la.

Epi custom - RM3k
Gibby studio fadded - RM4.5k
Gibby studio fireburst - RM 6k

if u buy the epi custom, u can save 3k+ for a second guitar or a new kickass amp.
If you buy the gibby studio faded, u can save RM1.5k ONLY for something else.

Just PM me if you want any gibby.

epi custom where got rm3k?
rm2k+ can get brand new already.

gibson studio 2nd hand also can get rm3k+.

so at most save rm1k, but in the long term also save u money...cos everyone will eventually sell off their epi to upgrade to a better guitar...
while if u already have the gibson...most likely u wont sell it off...if u do also u wont lose much money since it can hold resale value pretty well...

I didnt see a lady that time. Was at there quite late. Saw a shop selling nightstar amp. I think the shops over there offer a wider range of brands with slightly lower prices. Imagine 10 woh fatts minus the hostile service. Didnt know what to buy, so ended up getting some music t-shirts

A Gibson P-90 if im not mistaken,PAF kot.

he uses p-90 pickups on the Gibson Les Paul Jr.

Basketcase he was using a fender with a single humbucker pickup.

nope.
the studio is the toned down, baby brother in a sense,of that standard.
the standard is just better.
the wood quality, the pickups are different i think,
but it's still a gibson,so quality for both is pretty damn good.

If you can't afford the Standard, go for the studio.
If you CAN afford the standard, but need to save up a little more, then go for the Standard.

dont get tooo hyped up because there is a Gibson logo on the guitar tho

while in general sense gibson produces good gutiars, they have been known also to make some low quality makes. ive seen studios with terrible finishes that can rival a cheap epi.

you have to be smart on how you choose a guitar also la.
if you want to buy a Gibson but still ignore the basic principles of buying a guitar, then you definitely are buying for a logo.which makes you an idiot. cool2.gif cool2.gif

there was once a saying " You're buying a brand, not a guitar " that sometimes can be used on GIBSON but not always..

true but how many people can tell a good guitar to a bad one?

there are swarms of folks out there whom swear by their floyd rose gio, so are swarms that go and buy a low end LP that go out of tune soo fast is comical. but both are hardly woth its weight in gold, the reason brands are there is to stamp a quality logo that gives you an assured thought, that you are buying a quality instrument.

but this issit always teh case, its easier said than done really. i was shocked once when i tested a studio, the make, tone and feel was miles different. i can give and take some differences, but when you get bad ones and i saw a few of them you start to go like

wat?

^Yes. Getting the perfect guitar is a very personal experience. Although Fenders and Gibsons are famous and they're widely accepted, but you just gotta try them until you get the best fit for your own.

If Jack White can play like a monster with a beat up plastic guitar.. so can you.

it's like a person saying that they want to buy an epi les paul special 2 because it's a cheap lp.
if you want a good lp,spend money on it.
it depends, consistency is very hard for a guitar that is not handmade.
im sure fender also has its moments of being superf***edup with their guitars.
it's just a hit and miss thing sometimes.
im sure there are studios made in factories out there that equal the quality of a handmade les paul custom by gibson.
it just is a rare thing.
im sure the shitty example of an lp which you tried was like one in a few hundred right +3kk! ?

not really, but i agree whole heartedly that if you want an LP get an LP

however its the hit and miss thing that makes it worrying, these guitars go by an arm and an leg naturally one expect a good level of consistancy in them, they come in batches i noticed. certain stocks are alright others are like erm wat.

its not a single brand true, but liek dood im paying 5k and above for such things and if i cant get quality assurance the brand becomes void id say

i certainly wont make excuses for bad QC.

I don't disagree fully but i disagree one part of it.

It doesn't means that a 15k USD LP Is the best out of the others.. it's the player man.. not the guitar..

the feel, well its a feel laugh.gif hard to put it in words.

the studio is not a bad guitar, i just dont think its worth that price; a 3k used might be reasonable but these things are like easily 5k+ new and i aint going to pay that much for it. it was disappointing really, feel and tone was pretty close to a high end EPI custom. its more sturdy but again not something id pay 5k+ just to get a gibson tone.

I sent my acoustic guitar to lower the action. It's on gage 12 strings. After receiving it back it's slightly bellying. Is that suppose to happen? String gages remained stock frm factory. New guitar.

No buzzing. But the bridge area is bulging out. Will try to get a pic taken.

Anyway strings i feel are higher tension but shudnt be at the same string gage. Probably no buzzing cuz of the high tension.

No buzzing. But the bridge area is bulging out. Will try to get a pic taken.

Anyway strings i feel are higher tension but shudnt be at the same string gage. Probably no buzzing cuz of the high tension.
*
Oh, that's what you mean by bellying.

I suggest, after you take a couple pics or so, you detune the guitar first. You don't want it to suddenly snap in half.

I believe the Classic stock pickups are slightly hotter according to several reviews. I can't comment otherwise as I've never played the Classic before.

wat? if that was true a lot of folks here would be making emo songs about their top end pups

the pups dont overheat you do, that much headbanging and wanking, youd be sweating

No lah. No such thing xD

If like that, I'd really be crying.

But to answer your question, what it would do to the guitar, would probably... melt the plastic pickup holder and stop producing sound?

its ur string windings. u MUST wind the strings properly. don't overlap or skip them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXEkDR_-D88 Elixir shows how to string a guitar. really helpful. even for electric. a few post back I complained about the Yamaha ERG 121 c can't hold tunings well after using tremolo. I just realised that the windings overlaped each other. now, the tuning NEVER went out after using tremolo. ( I abuse tremolo ) biggrin.gif

Strings need to expand smile.gif That's why, as you're tuning, hold the strings tight. don't give it any slack. If you play like crazy before it expands sure patah de xD

Take out the parts inside and throw in something better ? Btw, swap out the parts for what .. not spare parts selling or what also .. the profit gained for selling guitar is enough already ...

erm.. like .. take out the pickup and install a really crappy one. selling it will profit too right? thats how my father is.. i bought a guitar from deadeye bfore.. he still doesn't trust him.. he said.. " because he's selling cheap, thats why he won't cheat you.. if you're talking abt 1k+ guitar... he can cheat you easily "

Don't need to convince lahh...
Your dad rather pay more , to an establish shop that has been around for the last 30 years . I met many people like that before. They are not very price-influence, they believe in long reputation and values . They grew up hanging out in Woh Fatt , Bentley ,Swee Lee, Mahogany and other older shops. Its like nostalgia to them .

Have to respect people's point of view lor . These people are the ones that supported the music industry for the past 20-30 years . Without them , there will be no JS music , guitarstore , Music Master , Ultimate music and stuff .

I figure, since I already have the same guitar, might as well put in the same sustainer. I figure it's about a 1.5k investment after installation......
