Hi

I need a full hd support lcd monitor recomendation for a budget RM 600.Purpose is to connect to my Playstation 3.Thank you.

Dell 24" Full HD LCD will be good. I have 2 x 22" and 1 x 24" Dell LCD. 22" model both exchange once coz can't power up. The warranty service is great - they send over a new one within days and collect the spoilt one at the same time. thumbup.gif

But their 27" is really too expensive - almost can buy a 42" Full HD LCD TV with the same price. sweat.gif So I just got myself the Samsung P2770H today - massive size. I think it is the maximum "desktop" monitor one can use. Larger than that you will need to turn your head left and right often. laugh.gif Kinda dizzy when I sat too close to it while playing Bad Company 2 just now. Need to stay further back to be more comfortable. But watching movie or TV series is awesome.

Great Info... THanks...
One more thing about 30" LCD, I read that it need 2x DVI cable. Since my GTS250 only has one VGA, one DVI and one HDMI. Can the single HDMI able to transmit full native resolution for the 30"?

Hope those has 30" can help to answer this...
Thanks for the info...

I guess now is either Dell 23" at RM600+ or HP 24" at RM1200+... From the price, the logical choice seems favour the Dell 23" as it is making more sense... HP extra one inch and need to pay double price....  sweat.gif

If I'm not mistaken, VGA should already able to support up to 2560x1600, but has a bit doubt about the capability to playback movie through it or games, you can try. DVI or HDMI (they're the same except HDMI can carry audio signals) is no doubt able to transmit full 2560x1600 without any issue.
And since it has 2x DVI and one HDMI, you can use either one. FYI that those tons of connectors is enable support of multiple inputs either multiple devices/platforms, so using one to each device/platform is enough.

Hi Guys,

I am planning to purchase a 42" Full HD LCD TV & connect it to my pc via HDMI.

I heard rumors that the display is not that sharp, is this true? would you recommend me to take the 42" Full HD LCD or just stick with P2770H LCD?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

p/s: if I have posted this at the wrong forum, my sincere apologies.

42" is huge IMO, not suitable for computer desk, unless you're planning on at least 7 feet away, or you have many people to watch/play in a living room.
> 24" desktop monitor will need quite wide desk or having a slide keyboard to extend the distant otherwise you might strain your eye balls.

Sitting infront of a huge LCD might make you nausea, I remember my sister used to play maple story in front of my htpc, she can barely walk after

yeah I think so too as the person needs to move the head to see each corner of the TV.

But guys, I am more concern on the resolution display, will it look sharp or blurry? if it is too blurry then it defeats my main purpose. sad.gif

If you look really close you should see some pixelate dots on the screen for huge LCD due to the fact that the screen resolution didn't change, it's still 1920 dots width and 1080 dots height, but if you sit at least 7 feet away then you won't notice it anymore, unless your eyes got sharpening effect.
This same goes to those huge 70+ inches TV (1080p), so big that you can notice the dots from just few feet away.
Those are normal as it's for long distance viewing purpose. And it should look very crisp if you use the native resolution.

for 27' above only you need to special DVI cable, even ordinary HDMI 1.3 wont be able to support that resolution (2560 x 1920 if not mistake).

The newer HDMi cable (1.4 if not mistaken) will be able to support but u need both our output and your monitor + your cable to support it.

Alternative will be display port which is ultra rare..

Hey guys, some pointers would be appreciated.

My 3-year-old Samsung 19" 1440x900 just died on me last week. Samsung quoted me around RM328 for the repairs and I told them its alright since a new one is about that price too.

I'm now looking for something similar, and currently I'm eying Samsung's e2020 (20", 1600x900) since its about RM350.

Are there any better options out there? smile.gif

Thanks in advance.

They do it on purpose dont you think so?

At times it make sense as it's cheaper to make a whole new one than repairing one

That's probably the best that you can get with your budget, if you can fork out RM500, there's already 21.5" that has 1080p.

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/c...dhs1&l=en&s=dhs

I take Dell for price guide reference, looking at the 21.5" is RM469, LED backlight and everything else pretty much normal for a TN monitor + 3-year advance exchange warranty (you call them, they come, exchange, done).

Or do a search "dell monitor" at "Trade zone" (category), filter "search title only", there you might find similar model that has cheaper price tag.

Some might have grudge against Dell but I find its service is top-notch, that's the reason I choose Dell for its service.

If you can find something else locally then by all means go, don't let others influence your decision, I merely give you guides.

I can't quite remember, quite similar to yours only thing is that mine's 16:10.

Didn't expect the lifespan of my samsung to be so short hehe.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at that page too actually hehe.

The reason why I'm planning to get something smaller (resolution) is because I like to play games at full settings and I always only get the mid-range graphics card, and I thought a 1600x900 should be less stressful to my card than a 1920x1080.

But then that's because I thought that you can only play games at LCD's native resolution or it'll be pixelated laugh.gif Is that still the case?

Samsung told me that its the PCB that's faulty. And some other stuff. RM130 + RM118.

I read about the capacitors too. I guess there really isn't any harm to try. Nothing to lose hehe. I'm just really lazy to go back to the service centre to get my monitor back.

For that resolution (1920 x 1080)actually you can set to use 720p (1280 x 720) which won't have much pixelate, plus if you want to watch Full HD 1080p movie in the future you don't have to shrink the movie to fit your screen or perhaps you want to change monitor in the future? nod.gif

Oh my main concern was the resolution in games. Like if I were to use a 1920x1080 monitor and play games at 1280x720, would it cause the game to be pixelated etc. That was the case many years ago but I'm not very sure bout that today.

If it doesn't then I guess there's no reason to not get a 1920x1080 hehe.
