Ok, this response time thingamajig is really getting to me.

Coz its the only thing preventing me from buying my new dell 23inch monitor.  (for gaming, movies and stuff)

Its 8ms and some ppl say you will notice the blur/ghosting with 8ms, but 5ms or lower is fine. But others are saying that it wont matter, your eyes can see the difference.

dammit, who is telling the truth here? Is 8ms really THAT BAD?!
*
if u playing racing or fps in such quick movement u still can notice the blur/ghosting then i think u r watching the game as a video then playing the game.
anyway another point i wanted to say is i just wondering how can a human eyes can c things change <16ms ? if u really can c tat change without REALLY REALLY paying attention at tat "ghosting" then my conclusion is i meet a new god in my life =) tongue.gif

ghosting is like when a person running.. got series of shadows of his previous position behind him as he moves forward.. hehehe. u seen the movie or cartoon Flash right? the guy who runs faster than cheetah lol. when he runs got a shadowy trail of his red colour clothes behind him. thats ghosting tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

tearing is like few parts of images to make one big picture not properly aligned. senget sikit from one to another so the lines become not straight. just like u tear your photo then u try attach it back together like was before. u can see the tearing lines tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

My Dell U2311h is Rev A01 but it don't have any buzzing and IPS glow are not as bad as in the hardforum. I don't really know about tearing though. I have fun playing Killzone 2 and when playing I don't even been bothered by any ghosting. Probably my eyes are not that sensitive.

yes thats some tearing you got there. the tearing lines can move one. it can also dissapear a while then reappear back again in other line pattern form.

for me i never had vertical tearing, just horizontal.
can be abit diagonal or similar.
some like wave..
worse one can like the lightning pattern (Z pattern) laugh.gif
when u look at it, its like a samurai or zorro give a slash on your screen biggrin.gif

mostly will happen if your frames per sec is not in sync with monitor refresh rate. if you on Vsync in any game setting can prevent tearing. but Vsync can make low frame rate for low end graphic card sad.gif
However, Vsync helps alot tho.

Tearing can be fix but ghosting i think cannot. ghosting depends on the monitor speed rolleyes.gif

tearing is cos of game/gc, not cos of monitor...lol
ghosting is cos of monitor.

trust me on this one, almost all of the current LCD wont have any ghosting issues, be it IPS or TN.And most certainly not TN.
If got, wont be noticeable, or wont be that bad to deter your experience watching movies/ playing games.

But SOME monitors, like my u2410, has terrible ghosting issue, but only with analog input, like this thread.
cant use my old ps2 on it =.=
It looks like the picture takes time to "set in"
example, ur game character move, than stops, but theres a shadow behind him, and the shadow only stops and merge with him after1-2secs. sweat.gif

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forum...8/19661600.aspx

Like I said before, the only bad kind of ghosting, that will kacau your gaming is years back, where IPS monitors built for graphic jobs are used for gaming.
That kind of ghosting makes gaming unplayable
My fren at MMU had been challenged to play Doom3 on IPS monitor....it was THAT bad...haha laugh.gif

Dont be paranoid buying LCD.No current LCD should have ghosting problem. icon_rolleyes.gif

Don't get those, bad/unnaturall colours, and powered by an adapter which covered with 1 year warranty only.

Yes you can, just you'll feel missing some part when moving your cursor to the smaller 15" monitor, because the 23/24" monitor has higher height resolution, can't really describe until you use it yourself. unsure.gif
