the only problem with this monitor is....its hard to see its awesomeness as its not on the shelves with other monitors in the shops! I've never seen it before!
I got attracted by the lg monitors when i compared them to other monitors as it looked nicer and the colors looked more real! but from what I read in forums....the u2311h is like the best among all the current 23"/24" in that price range! I hope I can see it at the pc fair and get it coz buying a monitor without looking at it just seems wrong

LCD has much much lower radiation over CRT any days, I'm surprise you're able to withstand a CRT while not a LCD, it just probably the light emission a bit high, especially the contrast part.
For your information, CRT rays (Gamma, UV, etc.) is way much harmful than LCD, so let just say you probably just overreacted?
Try to tone down the brightness to 0, this should give you the minimum brightness. But, I don't see anyway to work with that kind of brightness.
And lastly, make sure your room's light is well lit, if it's much dim than your monitor than lower the monitor brightness, usually your eyes should adjust accordingly when surrounding lights is brighter, giving you a slightly lower brightness feels on the monitor.
If your room's main light is very dim, then get some desk lamp, put it beside your monitor, it should give you proper well lit environment.

the con of lcd was too bright (due to backlight), some eye are too sensitive with bright light (including me which using minimum brightness on any lcd devices), and yes i prefer any phosphor base display rather than lcd, actually the radiation are within the safe level,and we human are exposed to many radiation in the modern world (e.g microwave based communication). As long as your eye feels comfortable(rather it is dim or bright), its fine. As for my assumption, many eye problem happens because of too much dependent on light causing pupil(anak mata) not use to dark environment, the eye also need to practice, thats why god create night and day

hopefully they do have a display there.
otherwise i'll still get....just have to trust the  forumers here

Unlike other items like AMD CPU and Intel CPU or AMD GPU and Nvidia GPU where opinions can strongly differ in preference, most who have experienced the U2311H will agree that it is the best LCD of its price class. The thing that is most likely to sour your experience is receiving a few defective replacement monitors in a row, but that seems to be a blue moon exception. I wouldn't worry about it.

lets say if the lcd just stops working after like 2-3 months, will they replace it to a new unit or just collect it and fix it back?

use HDMI Female to Mini HDMI Male Adapter/Converter, and then use hdmi male to dvi male cable
if your pc have dvi, why dont u use dvi, u wont have any loss of image quality when using dvi compared to hdmi, and u didnt require any high speed dvi/hdmi/displayport for u2311h since the monitor doesnt support deep colour(30bit) and 120hz

Also, all of the cables above are sufficient for 1080p displays. You only need to find a good cable to avoid noise.

Hmm, that means DVI will have the same quality as HDMI and DP at this reso?

Is the display port cable bundled?

I think U2311H still kick arse, with all the features and fully adjustable stand.
The lack of HDMI doesn't hinder those who use PC only.
