QUOTE(spax @ Dec 31 2010, 03:48 AM) from the users here, is theere any bad things to say about the U45JC/U35JC Laptops, the ultra portable series. I have read the reviews but wanted to get the opinions of those using it here Get U41Jf instead now... Much better GPU for a slight price difference.. It's not ultra portable series la.. It's just slimmer profile and long battery life.. 14 inch still weighs 2kg also..

Better Graphic card GeForceĀ® GT 425M VS GeForceĀ® 310M, Can upgrade RAM upto 8gb than 4gb and on some forums stated can overclock using Intel turbo boost up to 3.3Ghz from 2.53Ghz. Downside for me has no usb 3.0 but has E-Sata. Really good laptop, better than the bamboo series which is priced on looks. This post has been edited by spax: Dec 31 2010, 09:17 PM

But that's why we got Power4Gear. Reduces the clockspeed and theoretically power consumption.

Undervolting on what? Core i series? Its not supported yet. Only thing you can do is force it to not raise multiplier from the lowest one via Windows Power Options in battery mode

Power4Gear High Performance by default sets your CPU clock at 100% at all times, meaning if let's say you have an Intel i5-450M which runs at 2.4GHz (100% CPU state), it will be at a minimum 2.4GHz, never down throttling. This does not include TB yet iinm.
But if you use Battery Saving mode, it throttles it down to about 66% or maximum speed and won't go any higher until you change the mode.
So I just use Entertainment mode. Max 100%, min 5% CPU state.

For me the Power4Gear is just another bloatware, you could configure Windows power options to do exactly the same thing. I already hate the ATK necessity to enable laptop hotkey. Way too much system process bloating the laptop unnecessarily
My setting: Power saver: Everything set to maximum power saving, except the WiFi at maximum performance when plugged in. CPU min and max state is 0% so it will stay on lowest multiplier no matter what I do. Runs unbelievably quiet and very cool to touch or use on lap. Great battery runtime as well, up to 3 hours 30 minutes when browsing with minimum brightness.
Balanced: When plugged in I set the CPU max state to 100% and min state to 0%, on battery is the same as Power Saver plan and moderate power saving on everything else
High performance: Like the name suggested, everything maxed out, CPU min and max state is 100%, no power saving option enabled at all

How to set an exception for WiFi to be at maximum performance? can you tell me how to build ur power saver .. tq in advance..

Click battery icon on system tray "More Power Option" "Change plan settings" "Change advanced power settings" "Wireless Adapter Settings" "Power Saving Mode" Change both to "Maximum Performance"...
