Anyone got a U41F yet? It looks very attractive. If battery life is decent, I might change my A42Jv for it!

QUOTE(astria @ Nov 29 2010, 11:50 AM) HD5650 is at least 2 times better than GeForce 310M, thus a better option for gaming... Oh it's out already.also TimelineX's selling pt is battery life... up to 8hrs of battery life is unrivaled at the same price... Asus' closest (in hardware and battery) is the yet-to-be-launched U41Jf, rm2999... so overall, TimelineX is the winner... |

QUOTE(budingyun @ Dec 1 2010, 11:54 PM) Depends on the test, on maximum load (100% brightness and CPU at 100%) the longest is just less than 1 hour. If is on reader then can get aorund 2 hours. Idle just a bit more than 2.5 hours. QUOTE(superb88 @ Dec 2 2010, 03:23 AM) Oh mannn, this is a big prob for me as i rly require a dedicated mic port and a dedicated audio port since i tend to change between headset models frequently. Without the 2 3.5mm, everything's not gonna b possible. I heard of the 3.5mm splitter with '3 bands' as compared to '2 bands' will worked but no luck in finding it so far. The fella who sold me the laptop told me 2 get a headset with microphone using one single 3.5mm port as the Asus port works for both mic/audio too. Having said that, I am rly looking for alternatives atm....is there any other way??? Alternative is get a USB sound card with 2 jacks? The SteelSeries mobile device adapter is in short supply now. |

Then again, I managed to cheat FaceRecognition easily. My friend's Dell instantly accepted my face on first try.

And it's not using an SSD and it's still got an anemic G310M. Also heavier.

Normally for Windows 7, 30GB is good enough for an OS partition.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Dec 24 2010, 07:49 PM) Shoot! I didn't know it. Peaking at 53C hen playing GTA IV. Surprised this laptop could actually play GTA IV very well, even at native 1366x768 High details! No shadows though, any dab of shadows would ruin the framerate. But I reduced the resolution to 1280x720 to make it more playable. Overclocked the GPU to 850MHz core and 950MHz memory (200MHz faster than stock!) Wow? That much battery saved? AMAZING!The latest 400 BIOS they say would increase battery life further by reducing power consumption of the speaker, and it did. I watched two episodes of Top Gear (1 hour each) on it and still have 34% left with estimated 49 minutes of runtime. That is astonishing, considering it done with onboard speaker and Windows Aero on. Browsing time is 3+ hours as well. Only problem is, the GPU won't downclock to 2D speed when idle, which I have reported to ASUS about this problem. But I would be much happier if they gave us the option to upgrade our batteries. |

If there is an 8 cell battery out there, I'll be one of the first to get it.

Recovery partition? Never used it. I think downloading all the drivers yourself is a much better alternative.

QUOTE(faidz85 @ Dec 28 2010, 09:19 PM) The model is so new that the support sites contains the same drivers as the one from my DVD. Did you download the WHQL Drivers for GT400 or GT400M series? Plus the latest WHQL Driver won't install on my system as described before. I take that you did a clean install with your system? Any issues with the hotkeys? Hotkeys are fine. You need to install most if not all of the ATK drivers. |
