zstan : If it's ghosting then it should be the same in every shot right? But that's not the case. In some shots it runs more. Some shots it runs less. And yes I do have a filter on but the filter stays on for all the shots.

hmm, the filter might be the cause. try taking off your filter next time while doing long exposure shots. hmm.gif

zstan: Could be better if you could frame it tightly on either the densely-lit area or the dark area.

#1 is a bit overexposed; #3 could use more zoom; #4 could be reframed so the branches touch the frame's corners; #6 could be framed so it's only the shadows and sky.

e-jump: Could use burst mode to get the moment after the guy walks out of the background.

noprob: Niiice!

shukrie: Hmmm could be framed better.

wha7ever: The ad looks strangely fake - it locks into place in the reverse direction!

cjlai: Aiyah that one is a mock somebody else made. I wish they would stop using fan-made mocks to describe future models - people get confused!

shootkk: The logo running could be flare.

Ghosting appears on the diagonal opposite of the logo.

Albnok: I think Sony Marketing division doesn't really check into that detail when releasing ads/teaser.

Thanks. I usually set my A850 to vivid and up my sharpness settings to +3 (I do this for all my settings as it uses a CMOS sensor that's usually less sharp than my A100 which uses a CCD! Haha).

During PP I normally adjust a bit of levels and curves and sometimes tweak the brightness a bit.

For my Macau shots, I shot in RAW and edited in Sony's IDC 3.2 - tweaked some shots with DRO and adjusted the curves only for most. I usually up the saturation about 10% from default when editing in IDC.

No extra sharpening for any of my Macau shots! I just love the sharpness provided by the Minolta 20mm f2.8 lens! rclxms.gif

albnok : Flare! Why didn't I think of that? Must be the fact it's a night shot! hahaha! How easy for use to just link flare with sun and not any other light source. Yes. The 20mm does seem to be prone to flares and I guess having a filter did not help matters!

ahpingko : +3 sharpness is permanently dialed into my A850. +1 contrast in some settings and that's all.

8tvt : I have a filter so that I can chuck the lens cap away in my bag and carry the lens around and not worry. They do sometimes prove to be a nuisance with flares and ghosting but until it really gets on my nerves, I just leave them on.

albnok: Perhaps the person who does the check must be new biggrin.gif

Side question, the Contrast AF Detect for Alpha 580 (not phase detect) in Focus Check Live View mode. Does it works with Sigma HSM? For what I know it works with SAM / SSM but didn't mentioned anything relates to Sigma HSM or Tamron USD.

I am thinking to replace my SAL18250 with a Sigma, maybe the 18-250 OS HSM or the 17-70 f/2.8 - f/4 OS HSM, but the 17-70 would make my KM 17-35 redundant.

if you really want HSM then get the sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM la.

no point buying another same lens of the same grade IMO.

You mean same grade as SAL18250? Of course that lens will be sold off.

And if happen to go for 17-70, of course the 17-35 will go off in sales thread.

I don't see any good review on the 17-50 f/2.8 just yet.

hmmm..so your main favour now is the HSM or constant f2.8?

do note that 17-70 is not full frame but 17-35 is IINM.

Hi, everyone, fresher for this thread.

Got A33 1 week ago with 18-250mm lens. My 1st SLR

Sharing:
Though of Tamron 18-200 or sony 18-250 before, yet go through some review condemn a lot on Tamron (sorry for Tamron fans, but this is wat I read),things like slow AF, suck dust etc.

Tested on this 2 lens at the shop, photo shooting hard to see the diff. Yet for movie continuous focus, Tamron took 4-5 sec to focus whereas sony lens 2.5 sec. Hence sony is my choice although tamron offer an attractive price.

cons
sweep panaroma function setting is fixed by sony, apperture, shutter speed, iso can't touch.
short battery life

others - up to my expectation.

Question:
Thinking of 50mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.8? Use mainly for boker.

Pls advise, thk.

will you be looking forwards to full frame in the future? if yes, then 50mm 1.4, if not the 1.8 will be a cheap and cheerful lens which will last u quite a while... that small amount of aperture difference will not make THAT much of a difference anyway...

welcome to the club ^^ rclxms.gif
