ahpingko: Sorry to hear about your loss. sad.gif

Mikeshashimi: No lah that was a mock design by someone else.

lwliam: Great shot!

kopitiam: All Minolta AF lenses are full-frame, except the Konica Minolta lenses with the DT suffix, or Minolta Vectis lenses.

tplus1: No need to separate them.

Why do you need to carry both an iPad and laptop at the same time?

wingster: The shallow DOF kills the realism of #4 and #5.

shootkk: Probably a bit too late to say this, but look at the geometry and compose accordingly. #1 in symmetry would've been perfect. Likewise for #4. #9 is almost there.

I don't mind the perspective distortion in #8 but I'd prefer you not crop the bottom corners when framing the shot, then. #10 would've been loads better shot level.

freaky_deity: Nice expression!

cjlai: Hmmm odd, I'd think he'd put the 16-35mm on A850 and 24-70mm on A700.

gjtan: Did you give it time to recharge?

jerrylyh: #4 is overdone. Try looking for more clear shots like #2 - see it's just a circle and clouds around it.

lwliam: Nice!

Wassap!

shootkk: For #4 if you framed it so the song lyrics were right behind a receptionist, while they are talking to customers, that would be cool.

And LOL #7 looks like Genting!

shukrie: Supposedly in the next 2 weeks or so. Nice candid, though could use space to the right.

jerrylyh: Nope, just stop over-doing HDR.

gjtan: Could be metering also; the camera is fooled by shiny objects in the picture. Did you accidentally press the AEL button?

mastering89: There are no Sony SSM lenses which are APS-C. However there are Sigma HSM lenses which are EX DC, and Sony NEX E-mount lenses with full-time manual focus override.

There is a bit more small-radius unsharp mask going on with Dave Hill's pictures.

Newbieeeeee: I like how you have the concept of framing the waterfall with trees and leaves like in #1 and #2 - though you could find a better, more 'packed' frame.

#3 could be just a bit more aligned to the corners. #5 has an interesting half-lit, half-shadow theme but not executed well. #8 is totally out... looks like a hit and run shot.

I like how #9 is just rocks and trees but there is something not quite there where framing is.

Generally, I really like how your eye looks at these things, but you'd still need to shoot more. Explore the geometry and put those shapes into your pictures.

noprob: #2 a bit barrel distorted - try getting it smack in the middle? Otherwise nice effort!

ahpingko: Nice, I've always found it a problem to take a picture of this particular flower properly.

zstan: Could be better if you could frame it tightly on either the densely-lit area or the dark area.

#1 is a bit overexposed; #3 could use more zoom; #4 could be reframed so the branches touch the frame's corners; #6 could be framed so it's only the shadows and sky.

e-jump: Could use burst mode to get the moment after the guy walks out of the background.

noprob: Niiice!

shukrie: Hmmm could be framed better.

wha7ever: The ad looks strangely fake - it locks into place in the reverse direction!

cjlai: Aiyah that one is a mock somebody else made. I wish they would stop using fan-made mocks to describe future models - people get confused!

shootkk: The logo running could be flare.

Ghosting appears on the diagonal opposite of the logo.

wha7ever: As far as I know, Sigma HSM/Tamron USD should work with the A580 in Focus Check Live View mode, in Contrast Detect AF.

Bear in mind that wider, brighter lenses are faster in Contrast Detect - the Zeiss 24mm F2.0 SSM should be loads faster.

Though, whether it is HSM or not does not matter for video with the A580 since it's all manual focus anyway. Only thing you wanna avoid is the noisy 50mm F1.8 DT SAM, which has a grindy sound even in manual focus (according to bryanlyt.)

ahpingko: Don't be butthurt, okay only lah his pictures. biggrin.gif

lawt2845: Yes the Sony 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DT is geared 1.7x faster than the Tamron 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DiII.

wingster: Nice, any confrontation/fight shots?

8tvt: The A560 isn't out until 2011.

wingster: Nice #1 #2 #5 and #6!

Mikeshashimi: I've always preferred the cleaner bokeh on the Sony 50mm F1.8 DT SAM.

evilhomura89: That is a Sony Center - the Sony Style outlets have to sell at retail price.

yohanf: Depends on the card in the A55.

lwliam: Nice #1 and #2!

The Minolta X700 uses a Minolta SR MC/MD mount, not the same as the Sony Alpha/Minolta AF mount.

shootkk: Would be better if you picked either half of the night view to show.

ahpingko: Prefer #2 with the color of #1.

zstan: Nice moment! Love the dude's expression.

wha7ever: Don't know why you all expecting the A850/A900 firmware. It is not going to come, so do not make your buying decisions based on rumors!

I hope nobody is thinking "hmmm I want to buy A850 but wait for firmware first." There is already Lightroom 3.2/ACR 6.2/DxO 6.5 which makes fantastic noise reduction happen on ISO3200/ISO6400. If you need full-frame, there is no point waiting.

The A55 has continuous Phase Detect AF in 10 FPS mode.

mastering89: On the contrary, the A33 can shoot more frames in 7 FPS (obviously since it has more time to clear the buffer.)

shootkk: Whoa that is a mega pano!

freaky_deity: Tak jadi lah your HDR sorry.

yuhi: Nice #2 and #3!

gjtan: I command you to learn the difference between "comment" and "command"! biggrin.gif

porkchop: Then you'd know the Samyang/Sigma/Minolta/Zeiss 85mm F1.4 would be sweeter. smile.gif

azamunekurone: Nice! Though the top-lit wood a bit cliche.

longpants: Lovely, could use a bit more crop to avoid the barrelling on the edges.

fatnir: The Sony 75-300mm F4.5-5.6 is on average selling for under RM500 second-hand.

freaky_deity: I like the idea in #1!

destfull: Post-processing not suitable for this I'd think.

laszlo: Nicely done!

eddybeh: The Minolta 50mm F1.4 has internal reflection, which shows as a hotspot when shooting black objects with a very bright white background.

The Sony 50mm F1.4 has coatings to prevent reflection from the sensor affecting the image.

The focusing helicoid is the screw-threaded groove that moves the focusing group.

shootkk: On the contrary, the A850 is better than the A550 in terms of noise handling. Shoot RAW and you'll see why, especially when it comes to pulling shadows.

Hmmm I prefer your Macau street series.

Uzumaki NaruTo: Congratulations!

Ranceed: Great timing!

lwliam: Not quite feeling it with the two pillars. Eh are the other pictures approved besides the blue Exige?

viruz019: Look for the GGS screen protectors.

zeipher: What lens is on the SRT? Looks interesting!

zstan: The flash hotshoe only comes with the A100/A700/A850/A900.

hazril: Nice #1!

ahpingko: If you are using AWB and you used flash with a brighter aperture/slower shutter speed/higher ISO you'd get a lot more ambient warm light.

No, the wide angle converter only pumps it up to 16mm-ish before vignetting kicks in.

Reversing the lens itself is less easy.

user posted image

Reversing another lens, in front of your current lens, is easier, but if it's a Sony/Minolta lens you need to figure out how to open the aperture blades. Also, the 50mm F1.4 is best for this application because its rear element is big enough.

Also, you'd need to use the telephoto end or face vignetting. The magnification is the ratio of the focal length of the lens on camera, to the lens reversed.

Let's see who can figure out what the magnification of a 50mm reversed in front of a 75-300mm lens set to 300mm, is!

mastering89: There is the ECM-CG50, a shotgun mike for the A33/A55/A560/A580. I have a review unit with me right now! It includes a cold shoe adapter so it can mount on the Alpha iISO hotshoe.

You could buy a Seagull SC-5 hotshoe adapter to use third-party normal ISO hotshoe mikes, and it doubles as a hotshoe adapter for radio triggers. wink.gif

I like the concept of your #1 video!

shootkk: Nice!

eddybeh: Crossed X - first batch, tended to get sticky aperture blades.

Mikeshashimi: If there is just one lens and it is reversed, you cannot control aperture or focus from camera.

If you use the reverse lens in front of main lens, you can zoom, set aperture, and even focus!

Mikeshashimi, that is absolutely correct!

6:1 is daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn hard.

To focus with just one lens reversed on body - you move forward and backward.

lwliam: I like the window shot.

Hmmm okay will double-check with him when I get around to posting those pictures.

Interestingly there's nothing superb about the Kuching shots compositionally but they express exactly how the room looks and feels like.

shootkk: 50mm is so much more your thing. I like #3 #4 #5 (though #6 with more ratio to the greens).

zstan: Something's unsettling about #2 but it's accurately showing claustrophobia. Well done!

#13 I'd prefer straight on for the red one.

destfull: Just focus halfway into the scene. It should look better.

laszlo: Nice!

noprob: A crop to show the fuel cap and the guy standing there would be cool.

eddybeh: Hmmm if you cropped off the bottom a bit, or pointed up, it could give the illusion that you were in the water taking a picture (which would be cooler.)

yuhi: Nice #2 and #4 (though step back for a wider view).

iamKiet: Would prefer #2 straight on and #3 without the right-side crop. Also in #5 like bad feng shui lah you made the sign crash into Big Ben.

mastering89: Nice #2 and #3! #5 is probably the best lens cap picture I've ever seen.

Also, I like that wide shot with the cat.

willer: RM1100 as it is on the 1st page of this thread.

freddy manson: Would prefer they have a consistent WB - #3 is a bit cooler.

e-jump: Nice Caturday you had!

evilhomura89: Congratulations! For #2 and #3 I quite like them but you could point them slightly lower. Also quite cool how you found #8 and #9 during your first trip out!

I also really like the blue/purplish butterfly (#1 from second set). For the very fact that the background is very different.

d4rkholeang3l: Not so interesting, your Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 shot.

noprob: The car looks kinda bloaty - could be a short focal length doing that.

Wonka: Argh the signboards spoil #2 somewhat. There must be a timing where the light is just right.

wingster: The flower macro shots seem quite... undecided. Could use a lot more stopping down!

mastering89: Nice, I haven't tried fisheye panoramas!

evilhomura89: Point your camera more downwards, same position. Love the lighting on the cookies!

zeipher: Somehow I imagine the original red to be preferred over this processed look.

gjtan: Times 1.5 that is.

mastering89: Nice, love that there is the drain and cleaner there!

zstan: Try it - CPL filters do work on some metallic surfaces.

I would like #1 with like +1 EV. And #9 in landscape format, probably without the big tree on the left. #15 feels a bit imbalanced.

I like #16 but more straight on... this feels a bit imbalanced too.

tanjq87: Nice symmetry in #1 though I wish it was framed higher. #3 and #4 would be better further away.

For storytelling purposes if #7 could have some real apples as bokeh it would be better.

ProX: You cropped them funny at the bottom. sad.gif

busyman: The A100/A200/A300/A350/NEX-3 do not have an IR receiver port. However you can plug the cable shutter release on the side (except the NEX-3).

Mr.Wang: Nice! Would be better with a bit more space so you see its curve.

shukrie: Nice #3! Though even if you crop the bottom half it looks good also.

laszlo: LOL nice 'extraction'. wink.gif

You could straighten the line on top since you're modifying it like that.

evilhomura89: Nice catch on #1! You could take another from directly above so you see the leaf, the worm and the red rocks.

cjlai: Wow Christmas deals!

takumicross: The Sony 35mm F1.8 DT SAM is already on sale at Sony Style for RM899 retail price. Dunno if it has reached other dealers yet.

azamunekrone: Nice jamming studio shot! To make a clean trace isn't easy.

8tvt: Nice #1!

shukrie: Nice #1!

mastering89: That's right, but the Sony 85mm F2.8 SAM can be used in a concert if the guards don't think it's a telephoto lens while the 90mm obviously is.

zstan: Cheaper than that. wink.gif

achew: Nicely exposed, though could use a bit more contrast in the distant area.

lwliam: Could be a bit more to the right to get symmetry.

The 85mm F2.8 is good! Am just a bit too busy to post anything now. sad.gif

zicron: I only have 2 Zeiss lenses currently.

evilhomura89: GOT!

My Samyang 85mm F1.4 chip is acting up - sometimes it will lock up so with the new firmware I don't have to rely on it being exactly in position.

geekster: Just as well, since true HDR consists of more than one exposure, at a different exposure setting - so if one gets a darker image, it is perfect and can run at the same shutter speed/ISO/aperture.

Gouki: Yeah man, hate them brick battery grips and over-scrolling thumbwheels!

I bought the A100 because of Super SteadyShot with a F1.4 lens, since I preferred to shoot without flash back then, in dark places.

zstan: In the RM3xxx range. biggrin.gif

readone_sapi: Will have pictures to show after coming back from KLIMS! (Haven't gotten the time to shoot much with it.)

Wonka: Could stand further to avoid barrel distortion.

achew: Well it still looks pretty darn awesome!
