Menu looks cool, but for me, I like a lighter background, and it'd make a contra between the colours. tongue.gif

Screencaps of my Slitaz running in VirtualBox. Haven't found a way to remaster it into a bootable ISO yet. The ISO I get with Tazlito's writeiso function always end me up with kernel panics. sad.gif

Anyways, gratz for a successful compiled Chromium OS.

This is why I'll never use Linux( or *BSD/UNIX kernel)-based OS as my desktop computer OS.

Well, maybe MacOS X will be an exception.

On the hand, it is great for application servers/mobile/embedded devices.

Saying "Desktop Linux" sucks is like a very discouraging factor who're already using it and are satisfied with it. Sure, in one way it might suck, but for some people whatever a Linux distro is now... if it can fulfill the tasks they want to do then it's an a-okay. I know I still miss my games on Windows, yet I haven't been using Windows because I simply don't find much to get interested to play myself. Even there are some games I have I still haven't finished just because I don't have any interest to continue playing. :/

The guy in the video only succeeded at demonstrating how incompetent he himself is, not the operating system.
.... and that is why I use Linux and BSD on all my systems, and hope it'll never become a "desktop friendly" proposition. If you build something any idiot can use, you can be rest assured that idiots will use it, and then the quality of your product is forever compromised.

I'd rather us Linux people remain the elitist, arrogant bastards we are. Hell, I think even Ubuntu should only offer a CLI installation and force you to compile a kernel and Xorg packages from source. biggrin.gif

Talk about exclusivity, I don't like to use things that's popular, yep, that's why I like Linux OS-es, exclusivity and fun. And I don't think it's too hard to set up a projector on Linux even though I haven't tried it myself, but that guy is a DAMN NOOB(including the gay parties there).

Windows is BULLSHIT boring. I'm getting bored of it after using it for so many years. It's too closed, even installing a new theme requires you to patch the system, which is very annoying to me. Linux for console-nerds? Nah, we're EXPERTS. Not N00BS like you guys. wink.gif

Thank you for reading. biggrin.gif

... That's also a problem you know. =_=;;

That and my Human-Computer Interaction notes tell me one thing: "If its unusable then it is useless, and we're not talking about those who can actually use it. We're talking about people who don't and how to make them NOT think it is useless." Gotta give credit to the distros aiming on improving usability you know.

That's also the problem of that commenter in that video. Basically, in my stance "he doesn't find a Linux distro useful enough for him than the average Windows/Mac OS is."

^Well, unlike most, I prefer the security and modularity of a "from-scratch" OS. I like the total control that comes from learning something from it's core.

Back on topic since this is a screenshot thread, after all

Rehashing some stuff from the plasma widgets (don't mind the bubble thing, it's just an eyecandy... well, actually, I set it to follow the ACPI CPU temperature) to the wallpaper and my conky settings. Copypasted and modified from vanilla conky settings I had running in my SliTaz virtual machine.

And Songbird... currently the latest Linux build (for Debian/Ubuntu users) is up to 1.8.0, and it's not part of the official Linux builds since Songbird devs decided to drop support for this platform.

But then a separate project based on it is now in development: Nightingale.

Well, I haven't tried it myself, but here's my opinion.

Cloud system -- Not really that good, especially when you need an internet connection in order to boot into your system, it's just plain stupid. We wouldn't want to waste our time just to get something out of our system by connecting into a network, especially for laptops, notebooks, etc., which do not have direct connection to the internet.

Security -- Imagine if the cloud server are broken, all of your files, documents(yes, your IMPORTANT documents), might be corrupted, or vanished as well. Talk about security, one can break into the cloud server and get all your documents, and it might as well lead to leaked personal informations.

That's not all but that's all what I can tell you, if I have hands-on experience on cloud based OS, I probably could tell you more than this, but this should get you the idea of cloud based OS.
