i use fastest task killer,so far i'm very satisfied with it every time i switched back my display on i'll get minimum 180 mb of free ram and i'm on stock jg4
*
My experience with task killers seem to be that while killing stuff makes for more free memory, overall multitasking seems to suffer i.e. some apps need to relaunch after every kill. Anyway, if task killers float your boat, why not?

Android uses a linux kernel, so I am thinking that more free memory does not really mean a faster device. This based on my experience using Linux at home for the last 2 years. Unlike Windows, Linux seems to like to use up available memory, for caching/buffering and whatnot..

Yeah, I tried to use the phone like iphone, always use the home button.

After about 3-4 apps put into the background, everything seems sluggish. Even recall back background apps. It's not nice at all... sad.gif

of course the first question would be, what kinda interface you want? brows.gif yes it is that customizable

iphone? windows phone 7? can..

here is few apps that can help in changing your phone looks

widgetlocker -> change lock screen not free
goto -> i forgot the full name but it has goto name on it, also lock screen changer free
launcher pro -> with this you can change the icon at the dockbar, you know the dialer, sms, and such

how bout pay a visit to the screenshot (pimp my android) thread? you will see all of the customize master screen, get an idea, most of them also list out the apps they use to get that screen

Not facing this issue, currently with JPO firmware, rooted and ext4-lagfixed with speedmod kernel. Just checked my phone, I have like 17 apps listed as running in the Samsung Task Manager and about 100MB free out of 341MB, seemingly. Not experiencing any sluggishness..

Not sure, buddy but I don't remember Eclair on SGS being that poor at app/memory mgmt. Anyway, I do think that the OS itself is managing the running apps and available memory pretty well.. Left the phone alone for a while and checked again - only 8 apps running now, and available memory is back at 120MB/341MB. Hmm, maybe those kernel tweaks in the speedmod kernel is helping keep things tidied up, memory-wise. smile.gif

P/S - I'm like an iphone user in one regard - I always press HOME button to jump out of an app.. biggrin.gif

Ha ha, I don't saja launch apps to see how the phone can handle the load, bro. I open something, do something, then press HOME button to go back. Sometimes I launch something else, sometimes not. Quite surprised also myself to see 17 apps active just now.. smile.gif

There is a version of voodoo for froyo. Check project voodoo site.

As for me, the advanced ext4 scheme in stzupy's universal lagfix kernel is probably the best so far. Speedy and stable, best thing is the scheme is available in super optimized kernel and also speedmod kernel. Kinda hoping to see advanced ext2 soon. smile.gif

xda-developers forum is your friend..

I am using hardcore's speedmod kernel, based on laststufo's super-optimized kernel, based on stzupy's universal-lagfix kernel..
