Almost year-end. still no new HD channels ?

maybe discovery channel HD will be next year

Even HD channels hv not being that pleasing, esp.the denial of Discovery HD, now they are busy with 3d again whcih I just dont understand ! How many of us are 3D ready anyway even our HD sets are under used ! Money is all they want customer needs are irrelevant.

Add the HD subtitle, bro.

HD subtitle for all major languages in closed caption just like Asian food channel. And not like One HD.

Maybe some "people" can't wait no longer?

Even kids and teens hv given up on astro, beleive me, CN is full of remakes NOT originals most of the time, Disney has lost its glory since it was Malaysianised, only Nickel saves my day at times with Spongbob !People are subscribing just for the sake very few are actually watching ..

Finally, I've Byond installed after 2 weeks of waiting.
Now i have to wait for another 2 weeks for the activation. Reason? because astro is upgrading their system ... and i'm still charged for that 2 weeks .. cilaka!

You should have instant activation of your byond. If not activated within 5 days, the new byond set must be returned.

is it .. that is what i've been told by their customer service .. 5days is long enough .. 2weeks??? summore school holiday?? my kids sure make noise ..

aiyyaaaa..why need to believe this thing on Wiki? never trust wiki on things like this la..anyone can set up an account on Wiki and edit any info they like..

I can log in now and edit the info..and say PORN TV HD will be on channel 696 and will be available form 1 January and I bet u there will still be Malaysians who believe it..

It is a joke they can't activate it instantly. I heard from insider that their new migrated system can't get the byond activation up now. Why need 5 days or longer to get the byond activated? Old system can get it done instantly or the most 2 hours or so. How are you going to sign off the installation is satisfactory in the job sheet?

I have a question here (dunno whether this has been asked here or not). Can we use astro beyond but not suscribing to HD channel?If we use Byond but no HD Channel, can we still use the HDMI cable to connect to LCD?

Actually I was AstroMax (AM) user. 2 months ago, Astro called me to change the AM to Beyond PVR for free. my 1st corncened was, "then i have to pay extra RM20 every month(for HD Channel) just to change the decoder"?What the hell?

The astro guy explain to me that they only change the decoder due to the AM will be not available in market in the future. later i can decide whether to subscribe or not the HD. the other condition i was told, i will be charged Rm10 every month for the recording but in my case, they waived the RM10 for 24 months. I asked again what if after 24 months?He said, i can make a call to Astro not to continue with the service.

Since i have no choice, i agreed to change from AM to BYOND PVR. After BYOND was installed for several days, i just realized that I have the HD channels...S***.....WTF...

I called astro for explaination.....they said, they can terminate the HD but the RM 10 will still charge to me after 24 months free expired. WTF again..i request to hear again the 1st conversation since i believed they recorded every teleconversation with customers...
they keep calling me for several days to explain that they make mistake but still cant produce the 1st recording conversation..they said they will change the decoder to the the normal beyond (without PVR)...for Byond PVR, it must have 2 cable from the dish...since my house have a built in astro cable in the wall, they hacked to install the 2nd cable...I told the astro, no point if they change the decoder because they already hacked my wall which look bad...i said i want to report to NCC as they make mistake and i have to bear the cost...this issue was dragged for several weeks and lastly i have to accept because there is no other option to fight for this issue because they are playing with TnC...WTH....
so i have to proceed with the RM 10 after 24 months expired for i dunno until when.....maybe forever ....

last 2 days, i can't watch my Astro...the problem is, no signal when i turn both units (TV and decoder). Surprisingly when i remove the smart card, i can see the setting home (without the content) and hear the sound but when i inserted back the card, still no signal

i make a call to Astro to complain and they told that within 48 hours, technician will call to set the appointment. Nobody call me within 48 hours but this morning i received a phone call from the technician saying that i need to try using other AV cable befor ehe can come to my house. I need to wait after office hour to try....

I think astro has switched off your HDMI port, since you have requested to terminate HD service, now you can only use either component video or composite video to connect to your HDTV

Huh??like that aa??not like DVD player which we can use any type of cable..so to use HDMI cable from decoder to LCD, we need to subscribe HD Channel...no other option.....?aduii...

Any different if watch Byond using normal video cable or S-Video?

Previously i use S-Video Cable on AstroMax as adviced by friend....The video quality is ok compare to normal video cable...
but according to the Astro Technician, using a normal cable is better compare to S-Video...dunno which one is correct...

byond does not have s-video, use component video instead, max resolution is crippled to 576i50

If i knew that i have to face all this kind of this problem, i will remain using AstroMax.....seriously.....

OMG interesting case you have there nagaraputra, usually most people including me will just settle for paying RM20 extra rather than going through the fight.
