QUOTE(-kytz- @ Nov 20 2010, 08:02 PM) Why suddenly got 5D mark 2 wan depends la. so many photos taken with 5D2 and more expensive cameras were PPed to win awards. in competition like WPPI or MPA, you PPP some more. 3rd is PRINT.that said you can look at Yervant and his photos, they were PPed. Jerry Ghionis uses 5D2, his PP seems minimal as least to what i see so far la. the use of 5D2 with L lens is for the good color and IQ. those help you get a good base before applying PP. |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Nov 20 2010, 09:32 PM) If 5D2 +L lens shoot shoot, at the end all PP into B&W then how? Seems like a bit wasted eh nope. you're still limiting your creativity and expression. Added on November 21, 2010, 3:22 am QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 21 2010, 02:45 AM) Talking about this kind of contacts, today after I transferred my shots from my SDHC and put it back to my camera, it shows something like no memory card is inserted, took out and reinsert again, then no issue. Tested few times and only the second insertion works... well i lost a whole video clip because of it. not important but it was a nice clip. arrgghhh.Terkejut I, I thought my memory card is spoilt already, took it out and rubbed it with eraser, then reinserted it again and tested for few times, it works charmingly now... Hopefully I don't need to send back for warranty... now the 550D has this problem. if you are in a cool room and take it to your camera in less cool room, or have temperature change - this one tend to happen. that's what i noticed. i already highlighted to Canon. they're aware of it too. 1. memory card not found type of error, happens at home. SDcard from cool place to camera........... usually la. 2. memory card suddenly inaccessible when shooting. happens in hotel. only in hotel. so far restaurant at dining table no problem. in conference / ballroom shoot video for 30minutes no issues. outdoors shoot corporate event for more than 30 minutes under damn hot sun until even LCD temperature warning start appearing. also no issue. |

if i can afford full frame, i would likely use the $$$ for more lens and accesories than going FF.

QUOTE(dantwt @ Nov 22 2010, 08:51 AM) What about the 18-135mm? Hows the IQ? The AF speed? Is it worth to compromise the IQ for the extra zoom range on the 18-135mm? IQ is average, usable but not stellar like the higher grade EF-S or L lenses. AF speed is like the kit lens. never compare it to the 15-85 IS USM. Added on November 22, 2010, 9:07 amthat said, for the price of 18-135 IS i think one should consider comparing it to the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. Added on November 22, 2010, 9:08 amoh with that - i see you already have 18-55, no point buying an 18-135 IS unless you're getting a used unit with decently cheap price. probably 1.1k - 1.2k range? maybe. DO NOT go buy a new 18-135 IS because it's gonna cost you quite a lot more. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Nov 22 2010, 10:11 AM) ..... I got my 18-135 for NT9900 (roughly RM990) vs the asking price of NT23,000 (~Rm2.3K) for the 15-85mm in Taiwan. .... ehh m'sia price not so cheap oh. 15-85 nearly RM 3k even for street price. 18-135 is about RM 1.4k i think. *if i have RM 1.4k to spend and already have an 18-55 IS, I'd go for Tamron 17-50 VC or top up RM 300 or so for the Tamron 17-50 VC. |

RM 4k for 5D, nice but I'd rather save up for a 5D2 with 3 years warranty.
if 5D2 good enough for Jerry Ghionis and Yervant, it's good enough for me. |

my process of going through that one also i think can buy a lens, if not a flash already. btw if 24-70 f2.8 IS really does come out then it'll be really nice ohhhh, for 5D2. |

zelmel - what makes you think those photo you see have no noise? every situation is different. compromises happen. if you expect everything to be PERFECT then you're delusioned.

QUOTE(Zelmel @ Nov 24 2010, 06:55 PM) But i just want to learn ma. what you see from the good photos are the best of the lot - this means they also have failed shots too, further more resized put on web already you may not notice the very subtle motion blur. i know you want to learn, that's why i replied you. if not i could just ignore it right? QUOTE(Zelmel @ Nov 24 2010, 06:55 PM) Okay, maybe i request too much with a kit lens and no external flash what's it got to do with the kit lens? the 18-55 IS is a damn nice lens to use. you use pop-up flash it's limited because it's DIRECT, that's why the subjects are lit so brightly. the sensor picks up the subject more than the ambient blablablablbalbal. you put higher shutter speed you're losing out on ambient light. in the end it's a matter of balance but even balance doesn't save everything because when the moment comes you have NO TIME to balance. please do not think that all those beautiful photos come out 1 piece straight perfect - people actually have photos of multiple exposures to get the exposure they want because the camera sensor is not perfect. i should write an article on this one......... a bit leceh la but basically you play with layers. 1 layer brighter and 1 layer darker. then you clear up the various areas of the top layer so the exposures are what you wanted. what you see perfectly exposed and all on the Internet, are often post-processed kau kau by photographers. Added on November 24, 2010, 11:53 pm QUOTE(Zelmel @ Nov 24 2010, 07:40 PM) I had try P, TV, AV. I dun have external flash external flash aside, it's more about understanding how to get the results right whether via camera or with the help of post processing. |

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Nov 25 2010, 09:52 AM) If you're planning to upgrade to 7D, it's kind of pointless to get a 17-40 since the 17-40 will only truly shine on a full-frame. i disagree. it's great on the 7D already optically speaking. just because it shines on full frame doesn't mean you can't use. furthermore it's the only short / standard zoom that provides weather protection when paired with 7D. |

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Nov 25 2010, 12:39 PM) Well, like goldfries meantioned.. it's the only short zoom lens with weather sealing properties which may come in helpful when you're travelling. *sorry i forgot about the 16-35 f2.8 But if you're looking for a wide angle lens, the only real UWA canon zoom lens for a crop sensor would be the 10-22mm. Added on November 25, 2010, 12:43 pm QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Nov 25 2010, 12:42 PM) Nothing really wrong with the 550D except for the autofocus thing on video mode...if you don't care much about video, it works fine as a camera. ehhh, that applies to all the Canon video capable bodies la.Otherwise you will need to look to the Nikon camp. seriously, who cares about focusing when in video. we use follow focus mechanism lor, manually adjust focusing IMO is still best in video. |
