The Corsair Vengeance SODIMM modules usually found here are the 1.5v versions. Not recommended to run it in Haswell chip laptops.
really? So what rams are recommended then?MSI Gaming Notebook, Check out Post #3! Gathering time!

Any DDR3 1.35v Sodimm module would do I guess. This is not saying that 1.5v RAMs won't work, because there have been reports that it does but it's not recommended if you want to keep everything running optimally.

QUOTE(dinraxxx @ Jul 29 2013, 09:03 PM) I know for a fact that both the stock ADATA 1600 1.35v and the Kingmax Value 1600 1.35v SODIMMs work fine, even when mixed together. I'm running both and they're dual channeling happily. As for speedier RAMs, not so sure. I'm actually quite pissed now that the YES 4G Go dongle DOES NOT PLAY NICE WITH WIN 8. Thankfully I have a spare Win 7 Starter netbook lying around, running Connectify on that and things are working out quite well. I even bought a darned TP-Link MR3040 after hearing that OpenWRT works with WIMAX, no such luck with the Yes Dongle. If only them damn Huddles aren't so effing expensive. Oh, and if you're wondering why the eff am I so keen on using Yes (when it's so troublesome)? Well, I'm in the neck of the woods 90% of the time (I work in Kuala Lipis), BUT I have a Yes base station about 200m away from where I live. It's like the best option I have for decent Internet over here. Plus, I have a "free" Gomen account. I wonder if I can play MWO on the Gomen line. Plus after being used to the smoothness of Win8, it's hard to go back. Sure, I can't run Sins of a Solar Empire, but everything else I throw at it (my extensive library of Japanese "light entertainment" games included) runs without a hitch. Damn Yes has GOT to get their act together woi. EDIT: Nop. All my online games are blocked lololol. No surprise there. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jul 30 2013, 12:27 AM |

Coming from the M1210, the GE40's maintenance access is so easy it's almost laughable. I've already repasted my lappy twice (not happy with how I did the first time) + changed my WIFI card to something better than the stock Azurewave. It was really a simple affair to finish up both. Later, after my warranty, if they have a better 900p (or even HD) LCD that would fit I'd do that too. Now, if ONLY the bottom was made out of good solid metal. Something to share with you guys, here's my discussion with MSI-MY regarding the stickers on the palm rest.
QUOTE(Zakov) Sorry to bother you again, but I have another minor query to ask regarding MSI's line of Gaming Laptops. Does MSI allow for users to remove the stickers on the laptop's palm rest? I'd like to know if I could remove the stickers from my experience with previous laptops, the stickers can leave residue over time and it also makes the laptop's appearance less appealing(IMO). If I were able to do so without voiding the warranty, I would personally remove both stickers(the specs sticker and the component manufacturers sticker(Intel, Nvidia). Just wanted to know if it will void my warranty if I do so. Thanks. The reply: QUOTE(MSI-MY) Yes, you may do it. As long as the warranty sticker on the bottom is still intact. Thank you. I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely going to remove the palm rest stickers. |

The big ass GE40 sticker on the left palmrest actually shields your from the hot palmrest that is heated up by the GC underneath it IMHO. Pealing it off might expose you directly to hot metal.I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely going to remove the palm rest stickers. Also, as MSI support seem to be fond of you (they don't bother with me), try asking them about prices for: 1) Extra GE40 battery. 2) 120w adapter from the GT laptops. 3) M-SATA daughterboard. 4) ODD caddy. I'll call them myself, but last time they told me that "they'll get back", and it's been a week since. Sigh. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jul 30 2013, 03:40 PM |

I'm sure they need to relay our queries to the proper channels so it might take a bit more time as opposed to a normal sales question. Do share the information you manage to dig out regarding the battery. I might be planning to get a spare as well. For the ODD Caddy, you can get it for RM65 on lelong or cheaper from taobao(via a trader agent). I think storm88 also mentioned that he carries a model that supports the GE40. I've owned a Dell Inspiron and a relic ASUS notebook that had the same type of stickers. One thing's stopping me from using an ODD caddy from outside - the OD drive door. If you get a generic caddy, what happens to the drive door area? The MSI stock caddy seems to come with a plastic insert that closes the hole there. For a generic caddy, we'll have a gaping hole - unless you plan to pry out the plastic OD drive door and stick it back onto the caddy. Oh and looking at XoticPC it seems our caddy is of the 12.5mm variety. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jul 30 2013, 03:53 PM |

I thought most ODD caddy's come with the covers included? The cover will resemble your standard Optical Drive with a button and LED read/write indicator but I would assume pressing the button would do nothing.
From what I've seen listed on lelong and taobao they do have it included. Some of them even comes with a small screwdriver. |

Well, I'll be buying one myself once I have enough to upgrade to a decently sized SSD.From what I've seen listed on lelong and taobao they do have it included. QUOTE(Zakov @ Jul 29 2013, 02:42 PM) Well I would just say it allows quick switching between the power profiles, which is useful as opposed to going to Power Options all the time. I find that Office mode gives me the most battery life(whilst browsing), hence I usually switch between that and Gaming. I am using a Logitech gaming mouse... I just create a shortcut to toggle swap between the three profiles and to announce the "plan".. No more clicking on puny icons.. LOLCheck this out: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...ch-power-plans/ QUOTE(Zakov @ Jul 30 2013, 02:30 PM) Something to share with you guys, here's my discussion with MSI-MY regarding the stickers on the palm rest. The first thing I did as soon as I unboxed the laptop, after raping my GE40 with the camera, was to remove the stickers.. LOL.. she's now all naked and hot for me.. and she just gets turned on so easily.. and oh oh! she is plenty feisty as well as really have the stamina to last man.. LMAO... I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely going to remove the palm rest stickers. |

Anyway, I just got back from MSI SC. 5 days, not bad. Anddddddd, the weirdest thing just happened.
My dead adapter, the one I sent to them, was ACTUALLY not dead... Yeah, it was working fine and dandy, and they even tested it on a battery less laptop for a few days (or so they tell me). Before I sent it in I checked thoroughly and it was totally dead... go figure. |

QUOTE(Unseen83 @ Jul 31 2013, 10:41 PM) you guys hear about MSI GS70 ? any words of it capable of... look slim sexy lol finnally dual cooling..L:_) It's a Blade Pro. By MSI. With dual-cooling.x http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5SwDSooybk Well, as long as it comes over and doesn't cost a bomb, I guess people will be happy. Plus I'm actually glad they're giving Razer some competition (psst, MSI, clone the Blade next please! Aluminium Unibody and all...). But looking at how thin that thing is, not sure if any amount of dual-cooling can help it. Actually, I'm lamenting the fact that Gigabyte does not have a notebook distributor here in Malaysia. For that matter, I'm wondering why the P34G Ultrablade is not even out yet. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Aug 1 2013, 02:18 AM |

I see many rampaging comments here,
Man i've been away for far far far too long Anyway, Regarding those doubts, come on, seriously? I wont say MSI is the best but i also wont say it's the worse. Nothing is the best or the worst. If you LOVE MSI of course you'll say MSI is the best. U can go and ask the Asus thread, They will say Asus is the best. Go and ask alienware thread, They will say Alienware is the best. All and all, dont keep reading reviews. Try it out for yourself. What if those reviews are one sided and they hated that brand to begin with? You never know right? Anyway, Regarding price check, You guys can now PM me. Im officially one of the MSI Notebook Agent. |

Hi, blaze270284 reporting in. Just got my MSI GT70 2OD beast from numbertwo (LYN seller). Loving it soooo much. This one not dragon edition red colour, it is the black brushed aluminium one.
Specs are as follows: Intel Core i7-4700MQ GTX780m 16gb RAM 750GB 7200rpm + 3x128gb ssd (super raid) Blu ray writer. This is my first time owning MSI notebooks and also 1st time having a very high spec laptop as this one. One question is why is the usb ports keep ejecting and reconnecting every few minutes? the usb drivers are up to date. Is it hardware or software related? both usb 3 and usb 2 are behaving this way. |
