@ lonelywolf

I'm still waitting for his ( http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1754880 ) reply, he somehow got channel to get cheap alien and warranty covered by dell Malaysia, then compare the price first.
*
Wad model of Alienware are you planning to get? The M17x right?
If you compare Sager and Alienware, I'd take Alienware anytime, upgrade price is the same but warranty-wise, Dell is more recognised and has excellent service.

definitely not sager...sager's design really make me  shakehead.gif
but sager is indeed a very powerful laptop...
still waitting for his reply...if price is acceptable then I buy from him ler, since warranty also covered by Msia dell.

LOL.. But many reseller laptops were customized from Sager/Clevo laptops. Those laptops have their own advantages I suppose hmm.gif

What GPU u planning to get? ATI 6990m? rclxm9.gif

HD6990m, cuz cheaper...but 580m is better? they perform more or less the same rite...

AMD reliable? how about temperature?
*
In certain games or applications, the 6990m perform better.

Choosing over 6990m and the GTX580m comes down to personal preference, and also cost smile.gif

But mostly said that Nvidia produces more durable GPUs, which I think is true, I've been using Nvidia all the while and never had problems with it, smooth sailing biggrin.gif

Nvidia also has more features, the most notable one being PhysX for tesselation and graphic acceleration. ATI has Eyefinity which allows the card to be connected to multiple displays.

Both are competitive, it's your choice.

Sorry for the messy set up. Wanted to get this baby running up asap!

One questions, me still noob with this lappy. Do we need to install the drivers etc?

And how can i access my webcam, lets say i'd like to be vain and snap some pics of mine and my sibs. How can i do that? I pressed the Fn + F6 but nothing happened.
*
Grats man! biggrin.gif

Hmm, drivers.. When the laptop arrives, it already has pre-stocked drivers installed. The drivers are usually outdated, you may update the drivers if you want.

But if there are no problems so far, there's not a need to update the drivers right?

However, I suggest u update the GPU driver, you'll see an improve of performance for sure.

EasyFace2 is a camera software, try it smile.gif

Sanko, what can we benefit or gain from the BIOS update?

So far everything seems to be still fine biggrin.gif

By the way, do you have any recommendation for a key remapper software? I want to set the home and end key =/

woooootsss now GTX580m is available in GT783  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  drool.gif  drool.gif
*
It'll be super expensive.

Quoted at USD2399, it's just very costly. The only extras are a 128GB SSD and the GTX580m.

You be the judge, would that extra hardware make it worth if it cost an additional USD500?

It's limited by the way smile.gif

my 780 still waiting for BF3, will testing it by tonight.  nod.gif

Haha, maybe you could post some benchmark results or fraps? biggrin.gif

I wonder what's the performance of the GT780DX in BF3 without the overclocking in ultra.

Do tell me your settings smile.gif

LoL, im not into bechmarking, not sure how to post that fraps thingy. =\
*
Well, just post some screen shots of the game and the fraps along, possible?

At least we can know what game you're playing smile.gif

Then, from your experience, you can roughly tell us the average framerate and the smoothness of the game under high or ultra settings.

That's be a good start brows.gif

Haha, there's always a first. Share with us some of your results so that other members know the capability of the GTX570m in this beast wink.gif

Hmm, try this 1, I use it occassionally too..

is there any difference using Bigfoot 1103 with 3 antennas compare with default wifi card? hmm.gif
*
Sorry for such a late reply, was busy..

Default wifi card has usually 2 antennas, that's the case for the GT780 as I was told.

However, the Bigfoot 1103 is able to support up to 3 antennas and also higher bandwidth(450mbps).

That means better signal and reception smile.gif

The software provided for 1103 is also exclusive where you can view your statistics of any ongoing connections, be it upload/download.

You can monitor the connection's ping as well. Not only that, I like it most that the software enables the Bigfoot 1103 to control the bandwidth of each application.

Therefore, I can set my web browsers to download speeds of, let's say 500kbps, my download manager 2mb, something like that =)

Owh, and this Bigfoot 1103 is specialized for gaming applications I suppose, the pings are much lower with this 1103 as compared to my previous Intel 6300 Ultimate.

That's all I can say for now based on my experience with the Bigfoot 1103 wink.gif

It's awesome biggrin.gif

It's Elixir, I suppose =)

Tried overclocking the GPU?

I think I'm going to start doing that since I'm quite free already XD

I heard that the GPU(GTX570m) is usually underclocked, only when the TDE button is press, it is overclocked to it's base clocks or slightly higher, anyone can clarify that?

Ya, Nanya Tech is Elixir =)

My default clocks are 575/1150/1500 and my current overclock settings are 700/1400/1620.. It can go higher but I'm satisfied with this setting.. Did u try overclocking?

I realised it's underclock when P1 button is not on, yet it still plays smoothly when I play via projector (orgasmic baby!) wink.gif

As far as I remembered, the stock settings are underclocked. When I on the Turbo mode with my configured settings, it's overclocked. At the default, the turbo mode the stock settings is the base clock of the GPU. That's what I know.

It can't be possible that the 1.5GB differs from the 3GB version..

*
I usually watch movies with the projector, so I tried gaming with it. Turns out that it's awesome especially with the audio wink.gif

Go give it a try, haha..

Get? Nah, I had to buy the game myself.. I played the whole NFS The Run already, loved the game because of the graphics and that I manage to get the control of the cars XD

Played Spiderman Shattered Dimensions and Transformers War for Cybertron too.. Now I'm gonna try out COD MW3 and Batman Arkham City =)

What games have u tried?

Ultra settings in Batman AC is a problem, I run about 25fps with benchmarks with turbo on.

NFS The Run, Spiderman and Transformers is fine with max settings.

I'm quite sure though that BF3, MW3 and Skyrim especially Metro 2033 and Witcher 2 will be a problem at ultra settings even when overclocked, they are just so graphical demanding since each game uses different engine.

To all GT780 users, did any of you feel frustrated with the 'page up' and 'page down' keys being together with the 'home' and 'end' keys?

Any of you tried remapping them yet? =x
