please recommend me places to get MSI notebook at affordable price?

btw anyguy play BF3 with his notebook? and how the outcome? lag?
*
Wow, I've never visited for a long time smile.gif

It's good to see that more people are starting to own GT780DX rclxms.gif

Anyway, BF3 is not that playable at max settings in FHD.

However, overclocking the GPU will allow playable frame rates, it might lagg at certain scenes though..

Anyway, this rig is beastly enough to play most games at high settings, quality gaming thumbup.gif

i guess imma gonna go upgrade it to SSD.. better framerates!! biggrin.gif
*
U're gonna love the performance of a SSD, but it doesn't really offer a lot more frame rates.

QUOTE(beeenn @ May 7 2012, 12:15 PM)
does SSD really give a better fps in games? i thought it only speed up the loading process
*
Well, there's a boost in fps for gaming, but not much, mayb 2-6 fps? At least, a not so playable fps will become more playable, it helps at least.

But the performance boost is not really worth the cost, a 120GB SSD costs around 700-900.

And there's no saying when the price will eventually go lower to become more affordable.

crucial m4 128gb cost less than that, the 256gb around 7xx i think thumbup.gif
*
That's seriously affordable, the M4 is super reliable, least problematic among others and it has consistent speed and performance even after long term use.

I bought my Performance Pro at almost RM800, just 128GB blink.gif

But overall, I'm happy with its performance thumbup.gif

so: prepare money, dont be like me
*
Wow, a surge can result such a costly repair?

I better get a good surge protector then, yikes..

Btw, can anyone comment about the new Optimus 2.0 in the GT60 and GT70?

Was there any bottleneck of the discrete GPU as a result of the Optimus?

I would like to know more, hope you guys can share this with me and maybe other curious users =)

wondering whether MSI would produce a gaming laptop based on the new GTX680M..
*
They will, soon by this end of this month I suppose..

But I do not know when it will be available in Malaysia.

Bear in mind, it's going to be very very expensive, the GTX680m is seriously a beast, the Kepler showed an increased performance by around 20% as compared to the GT675m which is an overclocked rebadged version of the GTX580m.

I gotta resist the poison XD

but needs to compete with Illegear's Sager. just now i customised one unit with GTX680M, around RM7K only. not too bad. if MSI prices it more than that it would be hard to sell liao..  blush.gif
*
Ya, if you compare it with Sager, Sager should be cheaper. Feature-wise, MSI is richer.

Gold plated audio ports, Killer Bigfoot LAN (E2200), SS light illuminated software controlled keyboard (awesomeness), Turbo button and the best part, the turbo fan for cooling =)

Besides that, MSI win in terms of warranty as well, 1 year global and 1 year local.

I really got to say that MSI is getting better and better. Don't forget that the Nvidia Optimus is available for GT60 and GT70, works great I tell u! =)

Owh, I added some photos, do check it out, enjoy! =)

My GT780DX and the GT60

There's something I want to add on, there are differences between the clocks of the Sager's and the MSI's GTX 680m.

Have a look, MSI one is better =)

Eye candy right? =)

Didn't you say u wanna change to a newer MSI rig?

Or still hesitating?

Anyway, good to see that you are still observing the thread wink.gif

Update The new GT60 and GT70 with GTX680m is bloody expensive Y_Y

GT70 comes with 256GB SSD (128GBx2) Super RAID, more poison!!

For affordability, the GT60 would be better. GT70 is just too much to take, arghh....

Viruz, go get one!! XD

Cool, u own a cybercafe? Where at? =D

I wish u all the best for your business, u're right, to invest in your business first is better than to afford material items.

There will always be better tech waiting for u in the future anyways. Just resist temptations XD

The GT60 uses the Intel HD Graphics 4000 as well, battery life is definitely better than the previous rigs which did not have Nvidia Optimus.

Attached Image

The 7970m has problem with the switchable graphics, it's quite frustrating that the integrated GPU runs during gaming instead of the discrete GPU.

Since it is barebone, will MSI honor the warranty at Malaysia?

Nah, the GT60 isn't for me =p

Should have snapped the pictures of 3 laptops, there's a GT680 here used by my brother=)

Erm, I don't think it already arrived, but seriously are you gonna buy it? If u do, it's gonna be so darn awesome but it's very very expensive. I suggest the GT60 with the GTX680m.

Wow, good for you, that is a really good buy. Post some benchmarks? =)

Since u at US, y didn't u try buying customized notebooks like Origin PC, Malibal or Falcon Northwest? Seems enticing, especially Origin PC..

Nice to see more members coming in to the MSI Gaming family, viruz is gonna be so happy XD

will post when it arrive, the status is still pending on gentech, not sure it will take how long to build and send to me~ hmm...i choose MSI cause i like the look~ there are a lot of gaming laptop here which are cheaper compare to MSI but for warranty i think MSI is better~

But yours is barebone, the design is a little different than the MSI GT60 and GT70 right?

Owh ya, snap some pics too when it arrives, I'm excited for ya rclxm9.gif

Hye guys,

Just got myself a GT60. So far happy with my lappie. Keyboard issues . . . yet to come, so far typing needs more pressure to avoid missing keystrokes but fine with me. Gaming would be rough on keys and its build by steel series should last well. Specs wise mine is only i5 - 3210 with 1.5GB GTX 670M. I chose the i5 version instead of 7 cuz i knw i will under utilize its capability (can be upgraded if i need it). Well of cuz i got it cheaper than a standard i7 with 3GB VRAM and its just overkill, lol. Did change my thermal paste to Prolimatech PK-1 as soon as i got it, hopefully it works well.
*
Nice, may I know the model of your GT60? Your SKU is from Korea right?

Comes without OS I suppose.

Keyboard issue? That just requires you to adapt, I was like that when I first got my MSI GT780R, haha..

You're right, 3GB is indeed overkill if you got no use for multiple display or higher resolution support. How much did pay for your model? smile.gif

Hmm, 0NC, it's the batch actually. For example, 0NE is the one with GTX680m. SKU is the one after the batch model. Urs should be "TW" something since urs is from Taiwan.

Illegear's MSI is reasonable I would say, also comes with a year warranty. I gotta say this though, the CPU upgrade for Illegear is worth it, thumbs up to Illegear!! thumbup.gif

Prolimatech, by any chance, is it better than IC Diamond?

Regarding the wifi card, I suggest u wait, trust me..

Now 1202 is released, has 2 antenna and bluetooth 4.0, y not wait for 1203?

3 antennas and bluetooth 4.0, that means best of both worlds, my friend smile.gif

Your order has been processed successfully. If you ordered custom build notebook please allow 5~10 business days to build and test before ship, once your order has been shipped you will receive email notification with tracking number.
Thanks you.
GenTech PC

weeeeee~ ken email me and said will be ship out this friday~
anyway, wanna ask, for GT60 barebone, isit possible to upgrade graphic card in the future when there r better graphic card?
*
Congrats, welcome to the MSI family! rclxms.gif

Upgrading GPU is always possible but it would pose a risk as usual.

Sometimes the size of the heatsink might be different so it would be a problem. Not only that, you gotta consider BIOS support and all.

I remember I saw somewhere that a GT660 or GT680 was upgraded to a AMD7970 successfully.

AHHH, so tempted to upgrade to the GTX680m, poison's taking over me, omg...

I just got my GT60!
I;ve replaced my optical drive with a caddy bay. i intend to install ssd on my first hdd slot, and put the original hdd to the caddy bay. (slot 1 is sata3 if im not mistaken)
Question :
how do i move the recovery portion in the current hdd to my ssd? or is it easier just to burn out the recovery disc?
*
Not particularly knowledgeable about recoveries but I would suggest just burning a set of recovery discs. Just perform a backup and burn, that's what I did.

Yes, slot 1 (your primary HDD slot) is SATA 3. I'm currently using a Corsair Performance Pro in my primary bay and it's running in SATA 3 speeds.

Try googling and see if it helps in your query. smile.gif

Yea mine ive checked its TW.

I have no idea if prolimatech is better than IC diamond cuz i dont have it to compare. I bought the thermalpaste from taiwan cuz its cheap and all they had was either Prolimatech, noctua or arctic cooling.
What temps are you getting on CPU and GPU. Currently at this moment

GPU: 49-50C

CPU: core 1: 39-45C core 2: 42-48C

A lil to late, got and installed the 1102 BKN. Gave up on 1103 cuz its rm100 more and i have to install the 3rd antenna, and my home network wont fully utilize the 450mbps bandwith.
I did know bout the 1202/1203, just couldnt wait, hahaha. Can be changed later, current 1102 only costs RM135 lol.

FYI, bigfoots drivers are a pain in the ass. With the latest driver from their web, it only installs the Ethernet controller but not the network card. I had to look for Atheros driver to use my wireless.
*
Really? I'm using 1103 and it worked flawlessly, the driver is available at Killer Bigfoot website itself, just search the driver for the particular hardware, yours being the 1102.

Well, looking at your temps, it's much better than the stock thermal paste, at least you get what you paid for biggrin.gif

Prototype 2 is the next game on my list, can't wait, so excited!! rclxm9.gif

I tried few drivers from the website, but it cant seem to install the card's driver. Well atheros driver seems to work fine. U installed the 3rd antenna? Around the screen?

Btw wat temps are u getting?
*
Really? I wonder why it is like that, never occured to me that way. Mine was easy, installation of the driver provided from the site itself was not a problem.

Well, at least u solved your problem anyway, good for u smile.gif

Yes, mine had a 3rd antenna installed, it's not around the screen as I recalled, it's also around the 2nd antenna. Correct me though, not technically experienced about antenna.

My temps, let's see..

I use speedfan so my average temps for CPU is 39-48 while the GPU is 42-46 now..

*
Yes, GT60 has 2 HDD bays(3 if you use the optical bay as HDD bay).

And yes, u could replace the 750GB HDD as SDD in Slot 1.

But cloning it, I don't really agree, better for you to reformat from fresh..

I nowadays seem to have some input lag and my system is going at around 60 degrees in temperature.

Even if I close the browsers it is still laggy~ without any software up, i check task manager the cpu power is running the system thingy at about 10-20% usage.

what problem is it?
*
Input lag? What do you mean exactly?

Maybe it's the hard disk problem? When you fill it up so much, it's bound to be slower especially when you have a lot of programs and data in your OS hard drive.

During what occasion does your system run around 60 degrees? GPU or CPU actually?

an SSD harddisk should be about 7 points on the Windows Experience Index but I am having 5.9 only instead...

do you think reinstalling my windows will fix the problem?
*
Actually, CCleaner is not so good if used too frequently, certain registry files might get deleted and problems will come later on.

But if u're using a SSD, there is no excuse for it being slow, really.

Maybe you should reformat to solve this once and for all? Anyway, sorry for getting back to you so late, have been busy a while, hehe tongue.gif

Added on August 2, 2012, 9:04 amok, it seems like i gotten a defective blu ray drive and gentechpc ask me to take apart and send back the defective 1 to them and they will replace and upgrade to 8x blu ray drive for me for free.
isit possible to connect to wireless witout installing the drivers?
*
Defective blu ray? Well, good for u that u get a free upgrade, the delivery fee is expensive. How much is it to deliver back to US?

Wireless without driver? Y not u download the driver using wired connection? Then u install the wireless driver and it should function, I don't think the wifi card is able to function without a driver.

ahhh i guess if CCleaner has gone kaput its time for me to format my drive! hahaha
somehow my temperature is hitting 60-70 degrees at times so I was a little worried.
Does updating the firmware for the SSD works?

I used ATTO to run a read and write check and it came out fine but when i run CrystalDisk it just fails at 200MBps
I guess I will reformat it to see if it works or not la~

No worries for the late reply dude, thats what forums are for  tongue.gif and thx bro
Sometimes just don't wanna ignore problems until it becomes a real problem! so I check check research research to be ready if there is any problem and find solutions to it
over here it doesn't void warranty if you replaced the RAM or HDD, if you worry about warranty void just go to the authorized maintainers > e-maintainence to switch the hardware for you
*
At time? When the temperature rises, it means all the cores are occupied, maybe you were doing something CPU intensive?

Updating the firmware of the SSD might be able to optimize performance and fix certain bugs, it might help a little. I still suggest reformating.

200MBps? Isn't that SATAII speed? What SSD r u using?

I think there is no news about the availability of the GT680m variant of the GT70/GT60 in Malaysia yet. Wait a minute, there is already a MSI barebone of GTX680m? Lol, can you try reformatting? I believe that is the easiest way to fix it if you already performed your driver installation yet they fail to function.

If reformatting doesn't solve the problem, it could be a hardware issue.

Did u uninstall the drivers 1st then reinstall? Perform a clean installation.

U installed the drivers from the cd and not from any other websites right?
