yeap..wud be great if u do a review..im finally free but i feel like my laptop is too outdated to do a review tongue.gif.

advice u on what? as in how to review n stuff?
Nah, im skipping this chance for now, this year is my last year in uni..wanna save up my money first..i have plans to open up my own shop probably next year...want to find MSI to get reseller rights biggrin.gif
Man, im so jealous now sad.gif..i wish i have talents like them till i get sponsorship tongue.gif

BTW, seems like MSI is starting to do a lot of promoting..that's a good news biggrin.gif..last time MSI is pretty dead/quiet..wud be great if u guys can make some small roadshow showcasing more msi product to local market..cud spark something up biggrin.gif
i agree with spiritviper sad.gif..it makes me wanna get the gt780 as well..hand really itchy..*sigh*
*
@Deckard Cain, hehe, thanks =)
Took it with a DSLR, pretty awesome wink.gif

@Spiritviper, you make me feel like envenom you even more XD
But I can't snap any more pics, the DSLR had to be returned to my friend soon =/

@viruz019, I meant advice on the video review. It's gonna be my first time and I don't intend to screw it up..

MSI is just doing great since this year, it's getting popular in KL, not in Kuantan though.. Everyone here is wondering why I bought a foreign brand and don't see any value as compared to an Apple =.=
They do acknowledge about ASUS though, getting popular here too.

Viruz, good to know that you are planning to open a shop, I wanna be a regular as well XD

Viruz, if we go to your shop in the future, can we get special discounts?  drool.gif  tongue.gif

And lonelywolf90, plzzz don't tempt me into doing something stupid, like forking over another few thousand RM for no reason, GT780DXR is toxic enough by itself already...  biggrin.gif
*
Ya, get intoxicated then *plays Britney's Toxic* XD
I can't do a review yet, still busy with assignments and presentation..I should be able to do it after next Thursday, hope you guys can be patient..
Or is someone already owning a GT780R already?

Recently bought the barebone msi-1761 witch is the equivalent to gt780dx without dyna audio & backlit keyboard, i put intel core-i7 2720qm es, 120gb ssd & 8gb ddr3 ram, cost around rm5200++. The main downfall are only us warranty & rm450++ shipping cost to Malaysia. But this MSI notebook is so damn fast smile.gif Next time i should buy the full one cause envy the dyna audio & steel series keyboard huhuhu.
*
As far as I know, the barebone laptop is not associated with MSI at all, isn't it?
Even the warranty you get will not be from MSI. The US warranty u got would require u to ship the laptop to US when you want to send it for service.

Your shipping is darn expensive, what delivery was it? Can't be USPS, right?

Where did you buy your laptop from anyway? Nice specs for the price you're paying at least =)

Next time? How soon is that? You must be loaded XD

Bought from ebay, frostycomputer, there was another company that offer cheaper barebone but only accept wire transfer only, afraid of fraud & scam. I bought the parts separately. Next time is a very long next time, because got scolded by my wife. Loaded....nope, actually i've got into a tragic accident a few years before witch made my right arm paralyzed & a weak body, so using my insurance money to buy this laptop. Besides that i've started a small computer shop, was hoping this laptop can attract a few customers to buy from me....huhuhu wish me the best of luck friends smile.gif
*
Wow, you're taking quite a risk there. I thought the insurance money is for your medical treatment or used for the rainy days?

Best of luck to you too =)

Btw, did any of you tried the Bigfoot 1103 with 3 antennas?

Is it really better than the Intel 6300 Ultimate with 3 antennas?

I need personal opinions wink.gif

Was thinking of adding intel 6300 because right now intel wireless n 130 + bluetooth, where u bought your 6300 wifi & why did u sold your msi gt780r? U changed to alienware or sager? Don't know which better, both rated 450mbps, but maybe for gaming bigfoot one better.
*
I didn't buy it locally, I had it customised at US since I bought the lappy from US =)

I sold it because I thought I could source for a more powerful processor wihtin my budget, but I still failed =(
At 1 time, I was stuck between processor upgrades, but I finally gav up because of cost and worth.

I'm never taking alienware, too bulky and expensive for me, I've done a lot of comparisons before..
Sager is great but there are warranty issues for Malaysia except when you buy it from online resellers locally.
Sager's upgrades are affordable! =)

Therefore, I'm getting a new laptop by next month..

Well, I used the 6300 before, it was awesome! The signal is great, none of my friends' laptops could detect a faraway wi-fi signal while mine was able to detect the wi-fi signal at average strength, didn't know a 3 antenna could be this beneficial wink.gif

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Oct 21 2011, 12:49 PM)
Read that the Bigfoot have lower ping and the major difference is the software that it can assign the internet speed to apps..
*
That's the good stuffs, more juice to my wi-fi card, the Bigfoot will give a better wireless on9 experience, hehe.. I didn't know about the software that's able to assign internet speeds, where did you find out about this? It's cool because I'm always downloading movies, it'll be great to be able to control the speed =)

Will that software be able to control internet speed when it's connected to LAN as well? =D

Another question, any1 in Malaysia sells Slappa? I'd like to compare Everki and Slappa now XD

I guess only for the wifi only since you would need the bigfoot NIC if want it for the LAN?
*
Whoops, I've never read about that before, the last time I check a Bigfoot page, I don't think I've seen that page =x

Hopefully the bandwidth control software provided by Bigfoot would be able to be applied even when it is connected by LAN XD

Lee, did you try it personally? =)

Owh man, looks like there isn't any1 selling slappa in Malaysia, searched high and low but to no avail =/

Don't plan to buy a laptop? Or are you just waiting for 'the' greater good that you have in mind? XD

Erm, u gotta flash your BIOS to enable RAID.

I think you are currently using the BIOS without the RAID.

http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT780DX.html#?div=BIOS

Makesure to be careful wink.gif

lol i cant boot the file..... said not compatible with 64bit windows

Added on October 29, 2011, 9:50 pmAnd yet i use my pendrive to flash... But im stuck halfway dunno how to flash
*
QUOTE(viruz019 @ Oct 30 2011, 02:25 AM)
did u download the correct file? cause if im not wrong it's divided to 32 n 64..jz wondering, double check again regarding that

Another thing is, if ur pendrive has stuff in it, remove everything and just leave the driver inside. Else, try with another pendrive:P
I will get all updated specs from sanko by later and try and update the first page to help new-comers smile.gif. Will also try to gather faqs and post it at front page as well.

for your question:
1) If i'm not wrong, yes single 750gb hard disk
2) Yes, there will an empty space for you to put in a new hard disk. But just in-case, better ask MSI-MY or sanko if you self-upgrade extra hard disk will void warranty or not.
3) For the bios interface, as mention above, you need to update/flash your bios in-order to get that. (QUESTION: I plan to upgrade SSD as well, but how to copy the stuff like recovery that is provided inside MSI original hard disk to the SSD? O.o and how to use the BurnRecovery tool hmm..)
4) As of now, i don't think anyone know as ivy bridge not even officially out yet right? But i have a feeling they are gonna come up with something great for the ivy-bridge future laptop (If I'm you, stop the waiting game, it will make life harder for u tongue.gif)
5) I can personally guarantee you there wont be performance throttling or overheat. And i would highly advise you to get third-party thermal paste for your cpu and gpu. As i recommend every1 here, get IC Diamond 7 or AC MX4
6) It's a notebook, don't go overboard with that right tongue.gif
7) Ok, for that MSI will bring it in by middle of nov. You can book one by pm-ing sanko tongue.gif

Hope my replies help
*
Reizz, I was wondering if you could actually try flashing the BIOS via Windows 7, not DOS.. It should be safer isn't it?
Despite saying it's only for CR640, CX640, CX480, etc, maybe you wanna try this method?

http://www.msi.com/html/pdf/Flash_BIOS_SOP.pdf

As far as I know, BIOS is not specific whether it's 32 or 64 bit isn't it?
After all, BIOS is outside of Windows, it shouldn't be related with what version of Windows you are using.

What is ssd acceleration anyway? Is it Intel Smart Response Technology?

Reizz, problem solved?

Quick question, is RAID using SSD+HDD possible?

Was it an obvious boost of performance?

I guess the HDD would bottleneck? Since the SSD would need to wait the HDD..
*
QUOTE(Sanko @ Nov 1 2011, 08:11 PM)
Correct, and i did feel the bottleneck to be honest. When i test the GT780R. I need to put the DotA files in SSD drive, if not, it will lag if placed in HDD.
*
Wow, if it's obvious, I suppose a HDD+SSD on RAID won't be a gud idea rite?

SSD alone is fast enough, can't wait to own 1 =)

Intel released their new SSDs, duno when it's available in Msia *excited*

May I know what's the different between dx and dxr...
GT683dx vs GT683dxr
GT780dx vs GT780dxr

seems like the same...
*
The additional 'r' in the models meant that they come with RAID =)

Which means 2 or more HDDs with RAID 0 wink.gif

That's the only difference as I know of for now.

All dxr & dx models are stocked with GTX570m smile.gif

*
I think you might want to update the GT780DX? It has the GTX570m =)
And the recent model came with i7 2670QM wink.gif

My little brother had this problem on his GT680R, ASP notified me that the problem came from the motherboard. Hope this helps =)

Well, I suppose he bought from the US too right? The warranty should still be valid in US since 1 year global n 1 year local.

Cool, so what will it be? A GT683 or a GT780DX? =)
At last you could finally change! The poison must have got completely into you XD

Is that why u suddenly asked about updates for ur 1st page? U're beginning to browse, eh? tongue.gif

Well, if the laptop needs to be saved, that's the only way isn't it? Otherwise, your friend would have to source for a motherboard or some sort if the problem really lies in the motherboard.

Lol, the toxicity is overwhelming u XD

Actually, the price for the GT780DX in local is already cheap enough, you've noticed Sanko's post right?

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=46096468

Can't wait to try the GTX570m smile.gif

At first I sold it to get a more powerful processor laptop. But I just had too many doubts over Sager, I dare not buy it. So, I'm considering to get a GT780DX now =)

And the thing is, I never decided to upgrade the CPU because it was too costly, silly me.. So I'll just go with the 2670QM GT780DX XD
