MG Tallgeese would probably suffer the same fate of looking "simple". I say they should redeem themselves with a Ver.Ka Epyon Endless Waltz version.
Looking simple is good.
Due to the limited articulations of the old 1/100 and 1/144 Tallgeese, it'd be interesting to see how Bandai improves on the kit in MG form. The elbow and knee joints need to be fixed for greater range of motion, while the skinny legs would need more weight or stiffer joints to support the upper body/backpack weight to prevent it from toppling. Extra strong shoulder joints is a must as the accessories plus entire backpack are mounted onto them, not the back.
Epyon ver Ka... never seen a Katoki variant before, unlike the other 5 gundams. If there is an MG Epyon, they had better include a bigass beam sword which is twice as long as the gunpla based on the anime, instead of the short and fat version bundled in the 1/100 kit.

Hmmm, underwhelming? How so? In that case, in your opinion what would be a good way to spend 3800 yen on a mg?
Opinions are subjective.
Due to the technological advancements these days, for me if an MG doesn't have innovative gimmicks then it is underwhelming. And that is also due to the fact that modern HGUC kits are as good as older MGs.
You can choose to spend your 3800yen on any MG you like, it'd be unfair for me to recommend any over the Deathscythe since fans of DS will regard it as the one of the best MGs anyway.
