my 2 cents - 1/144s are tiny imho, and make terrible display items. 1/100s are just about the right size to display on a shelf methinks.
same reason why although i have a number of revoltechs, tak pernah buka... might consider selling them off too. sigh. But the problem with MGs for me though is that articulation gimmicks are wasted when you treat them as display items and hardly play with them. Assemble, paint. topcoat, photograph masuk almari and hardly ever touch them again. Best example would be the 2.0s. Ooooh nice superb inner frame detail, nice moving piston design... waaah this sliding part so clever.... slap on the armor and what do you see? fingers, a bit of knee joints, mebbe ankle and elbow joints. It's nice to know that it has all that under the hood, but is it really necessary? I would collect NG 1/100s if their proportions were better, serious. To each his own then. ^^ Which is also why i think that the RGs are very decent and a clever move from Bandai. With Figmas and Revoltechs etc getting so popular they've decided to release an action figure/model kit hybrid!
As it targets a different market segment, upscaling it to 1/100 makes no sense. @myky... no wor. I find 1/144 scale tiny, even more so if you are using the standard detolfs. Tiny items makes things look cluttered, me no like. This post has been edited by madmoz: Oct 21 2010, 11:52 AM |

most gundam kits look rubbish unpainted and without panel lines lor. doesn't take that much effort to touch them up
and once you start you won't ever wanna go back saves money too, cause one kit can keep you occupied much much longer This post has been edited by madmoz: Oct 22 2010, 11:16 PM |

bandai moving towards painted/completed gundams it seems... riding on the popularity of figma/revoltech/hot toys methinks...
eventually methinks gundams kits will no longer be mainstream d... more like tamiya military kits, niche market only. Added on October 24, 2010, 11:13 pmAlso, that PG Strike Freedom does look a bit plain at the moment, no? But methinks it will still sell - Strike Freedom memang popular one... almost every hobby store in KL also got display one completed MG Strike Freedom... QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Oct 25 2010, 06:13 PM) But the inner part of the HGUC Sinanju's shield looks absolutely revolting. Should have come with a black/grey piece as the weapons holder like the Sazabi instead of just ugly jagged red plastic. paint it black/grey so it'll be less obvious? Minor complaints only, to be honest. QUOTE(Leon.k @ Oct 25 2010, 06:29 PM) Need some help, do you guys think MG Deathscythe Ver. Ka is worth getting? you need people to tell you how to spend money? I've got a few thousand spare yen lying around and since Graffiti Toys has brought theirs in it has me thinking. Personally, at 3800 Yen I think it isn't too expensive and I'm a fan of Katoki Hajime's designs. Help? This post has been edited by madmoz: Oct 25 2010, 06:37 PM |

QUOTE(Leon.k @ Oct 25 2010, 06:49 PM) Nah, it's just that I thought of asking those people who already own the kit. Maybe a bit of heads up regarding the kit? Here you go! gaijin works for HLJ and he's quite fast with reviews. Thanks anyway, I guess I'll get this one after all. |
