Hi!

My wife is at her 12 weeks pregnant and we are seeing Dr Wong Kok Kien at Gleneagles. We are staying in puchong and was thinking to move nearer like Sunway , Assunta or SJMC and see Dr Eric Tham which was recommended by my sis in law.

Now i want to ask how much will it cost to at Gleneagles as compared to Sunway , assunta and SJMC? What sort of range are we looking at? I am not looking at the narutal birth option because my wife is afraid of the pain.

Will it go more than 10k for mom, baby and accommodation?

I spoke to 2 different people
One said the delivery cost for c-sect is RM4-5k
One more said delivery cost for C-Sect is RM9 - 10k.

Does anyone have an idea how much is meternity charges there.

I am living in puchong and currently my wife is at 12 weeks pregnant and want to find a doctor who is closer to our place. Can anyone recommend me a good and reputable male o&g doctor that has a clinic in one hospital only. I am thinking SJMC, Sunway, or Assunta hospital.

We are comfortable with wong from Gleneagle but because if the distance from puchong to ampang, i better not risk it when my wife is about to deliver. The jam in KL is very unpredictable.

Since you are asking then only i share our experience. My wife just deliver our son last week at Pantai KL (or Bangsar).  It was totally a nightmare, my wife was admitted to Pantai on 31st Dec for induction as we wanted to have a new year baby. But she was discharged on the 4th day after 3 times of tablet insertion to soften her cervix + 2 times of membrane sweep. Do note, after induction, you started to feel contraction and it is also very painful when Dr perform the membrane sweep.  This was our first disappointment as this is the first time we heard induce and baby is not coming out.  My wife started to feel real contraction on 2nd day after she discharged from pantai and her water broke on the 3rd day after she discharged. I rushed her to hospital again feeling all excited because this time it was a real labor. The nurses told us we have 12 hours duration for the baby to come out even the water bag rapture.  But we waited for 3 hours then only the doc came to assess my wife. Then she told us we can wait for 24 hours.  Some of the nurses are just not that experienced and the advice they gave u are not consistence. Some of them are nice but not all.

The real nightmare started after we waited for more than 24 hours and yet my wife still not dilated enough (about 9cm).  In between, i did asked the Dr if we can do anything to expedite the dilation process but she said my wife is doing fine (somehow she managed to convince me or she left me with no choice).  We just wait and wait. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and I insist the Dr to come immediately after my wife water bag burst for more than 24 hours. Finally the doc came and checked on my wife, still 9cm and she said need to wait for another 1 - 2 hours. Do note, during that time the baby already exposed to infection since the water already break for more than 24 hours.  Then i asked the doc if we can immediately deliver the baby. She then started to push the cervix open (DAMN PAIN FOR MY WIFE) and i can see even more water rushing out and some of it are blood.  During that time, there weren't any midwive beside the doctor until my wife shouted very loud as she was in pain, then one of the midwife rushed in and immediately she saw the doc started to deliver my baby then she put on the glove and assist the doc. After 1 and half hours my wife using all her strength to push, finally she is tired. Doc used the vacuum to suck my baby's head till the vacuum loosen by itself and my son's skin got peel off. She then started to use forceps but my wife already no more energy to push and doc suggest to go for C-sec.

Our baby boy was born finally but due to he was already exposed to risk of infections for more than 24 hours, he has to be given antibiotic for 3 days and his breathing is not stable and also his lung has water.  He was admitted to NICU for 4 days.

Total damage? >RM20K.

Choose the right doctor, choose the right hospital! The money u paid can earn back, but the life u put ur faith on cannot earn back!  For our case, we have chosen the wrong doctor, the wrong hospital ... We will never go back to that hospital anymore vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

I am so sorry to hear that. Do you mind sharing which dr attended to you via PM? My doc is with FMGC and I had my D&C done last weekend at Pantai Bangsar but no bad experience at all as I requested my gynae to performed it on me.

Hi All,

New to this topic,my wife is currently at her 3rd months for our first baby....just want to understand how it works between government hospital and private hospital..
My plan is actually go for private hospital or half private half government hospital, and I have shortlisted UMSC and Putrajaya general hospital, anyone has experience in there??and how much the cost?

Besides, I heard that to be entitled to government hospital, one must done her monthly checking at least once in the government hospital, issit true?

Thanks.

putrajaya hostpital > heard most of the time FULL. Try to check with them first smile.gif
Wife just delivered in Hospital Serdang... induced twice, stay : 3 days at 3rd class ward and 3 days at 1st class ward (so that i can accompany her day and night), add on with dono what medic / drips.... but ended up c-sec.
total fee : Rm 1159

What i can see (difference) between 3rd class and 1st class... nurses are quite friendly and helpful in 1st class ward. even the security guards are better too +_+
benefit i can see from 3rd class ward, you may spend your time chitchating with "neighbours" and gain more knowledge / experience in which you will never get these in 1st class ward (single bed)

I'd just delivered at Columbia Asia Bukit Rimau. I totally underestimated on the price considering I went into natural labour and didn't even cave for the epidural. Only 2 day 1 night stay for both mum and baby and total cost was RM4k. *sweat*

Mother : 2d1n (double room) + pethidine + vacuum delivery = RM3.416
Baby : 2d1n = RM604

But I was happy with Dr. Soh as he managed to let me delivery naturally even though my baby girl had a loop of cord around her neck.
