Hello! I'm now in my 21st week of pregnancy, due in early August!
In the begining, I had been going every month check up at KKIA and private (Dr. Aziz @ Gleneagles Ampang).

Since I will NOT be delivering in Gleneagles (cost and also a bad experience unrelated to baby there), I am now looking for alternative DR for my monthly check up to supplement KKIA. Reason is KKIA never did any scan for me for last 4 mths, and I didn't see any MO or Dr for the last 3 out of 4 visits.
Or, I was wondering if I should just decide NOW where I will deliver my bb, and follow up there with their Dr? Better right?

I made appt with UMMC (formerly UM Hospital) for 5th May to see Dr and pay booking. But now I am having cold feet to deliver there as I heard some scary stories on nurses.

Visited HUKM (the govt side seems like 20 bed cram in one small room, perhaps its waiting room and after delivery room.) But am not decided about delivering there neither.

Visited Hospital Ampang after being told some good story, but no booking of bed allowed and no Dr to do check up before your delivery. Just go with KKIA book when you think its time... I like the hospital BUT its too scary for me... if they are full they will simply transfer me to another GH.

Was asked to consider other options like private clinics that deliver babies instead of hospital.

I wonder if you could help give some advice or suggestions on :
1. Private clinics to deliver bb around KL (Ampang/Cheras)
2. Experience in UMSC, UKMSC, or UMMC, UKMMC or Hospital Ampang.
3. I am looking for hubby friendly hospital so he can stay over the night and help me. If possible I would love a hospital/clinic which allow me to choose delivery position, or before delivery does not confine me to bed. And not scalpel friendly as I do not want the episiotomy and epidural nor c-sect if possible.

Thanks in advance for helping me to decide the delivery place and the Dr too...

you can go to private clinics for check-up. usually cost about RM80- RM100 per check-up inclusive of vitamins and ultrasound.
Gov hosp and klinik kesihatan of course far cheaper but i warn you, the queue is very very long.

Check-up once a month will do.

when your wife is 6months pregnant, go to the nearest gov hosp which you want to deliver to register and get the pink card. I delivered in HUKM, twice. charges is RM500 including 2days 1 night stay and first bb injection.

Hi Michlove,

How is your experience in HUKM? I visited them last week... can see crowded room with many beds for the mothers to wait, I think..
Can't decide if I want to deliver in HUKM or UKMSC (private). I already got the pink card.

Which private clinics did you go for check up? Currently I am going to Gleneagles but want to switch.

Thanks!!

You may say the government are quite lazy on not referring you to a doctor.
But the fact is, most of the nurses in KKIA are more competent than doctors or MO.
And they should be referring you to GH for schedule check up, where the specialist will do ultrasound scan of your baby.
Actually is good that you have some partners in the room, you can gain more knowledge by chit chat with them. Time also pass faster.

Hi Supersound,
Thank you for your suggestion and views.
I don't think that govt are lazy laaa. I have very high regard to my nurses. As you said, many of them more experienced than the fresh graduated Dr. and MO
I understand that their resources are limited and they have many patients to handle daily, thus why the Dr will not see every patient.
My personal feeling is that while this is no fault of the KKIA or nurses, I feel better if I could get a bit more attention, ie have dr consultation and an ultrascan.
Partially due to my age factor, first child at 39, so its better to have a dr to be more thorough.
And for this, I am willing to pay, hence looking out for private practice Dr with clinic (not hospital) nearby Ampang/KL.
I'm not a chit chatty person, and certainly not when I am in contractions or after delivery. Can say I am a bit introverted.
Again for this I am willing to pay for own room, thus looking out for any good recommendations for UKMSC, UMSC or Hospital Putrajaya (under Full paying patient scheme) or other maternity centers around KL, in order for me to make up my decision.

Hi, may I know what's the benefit of FPP? Other than getting to choose the specialist that's handling your case and you get better rooms, what are the other benefits?

After delivery, chit chat is the best tool to keep you calm notworthy.gif
Those nurse will still do normal check up for you, they will only refer you to doctor when they see something not right.

How should I go about it if I'm looking for FPP ya? Still register at KK first? Or go to the hosp straight away?

My wife had c-sec in Putrajaya. It is very good. No pain just after 3 days. Fully recover within a week. The cut heal very nicely.

If go putrajaya, do we need to register n check up at KK or go to the hospital straight for monthly check up? Your wife under full patient paying scheme?

How many weeks already?
If still got time, try to look for KK that lesser people(I still prefer the main KK for the state), use your friend's address to register.
Then choose the right time(not 8am) of 10am or 2-3pm.

Means we have to register at kk n putrajaya hosp at the same time? Or we can directly go putrajaya hosp? When register at putrajaya, we should be heading to the specialist section right? Sorry for asking so many questions! Thanks

You need to go to kk to get the little red book firstl. After that you need to request for letter for referral. Then go to Putrajaya hospital to the reception to ask for FPP. They will guide you

For me, FPP means that the Dr whom you had monthly visits with will be the same who deliver your baby, as opposed to non-FPP, you will see different Dr on duty.
What's important for me also is the room, as I would like my hubby to overnight with me. If everything is normal can overnight then go home next day, still bearable but touch wood if need to stay few days... aiyoooo....
