Hello Ladies and gentlemen, i am totally newbie about birth and there's nobody can guide me.
I have some question that confused me, hope you guys can clear me out.

My wife's currently 19weeks pregnancy, had been to TMC for twice.. Due to budget in concern, we had decided to birth at government's hospital at Selayang. Should i inform TMC about where to birth? TMC never asked us which hospital we would like to birth the child.

What is the procedure if i wanna birth at government's hospital? Would it be too late to apply because it's already 19weeks of pregnancy. And my wife just have her first blood test after pregnancy, and TMC and the result will have to wait next month, should i wait for the report first or i should follow up at any government hospital/clinic?

Sorry for so many question, some rumors bugged me that government hospital ignored to accept birth if we didn't visit them at first. unsure.gif

Thank You

you don't need to inform TMC. you don't show up for their appointment and they will likely forget about u. you can go back to collect the report once is ready.

to give birth at government hospital, you have to visit the Klinik Kesihatan at your area. 19 weeks is not too late.

Actually gov hospital won't ignore you if there is an obvious emergency during labour. just that you might not have a place in the ward if it is full (my friend was place along the alley way after giving birth, true story), you don't know which doctor to expect and things will not be smooth if they don't have some of your pregnancy history etc.

Why not try general hospital? It is way cheaper and having the most experts around. Since when have problem, private hospital will refer to general hospital also.

not true general hospitals got most experts - many are dead woods head of dept, most times attending meeting ,
and entertaining VIPs.

The real working experts are not many, junior doctors many are waiting to practise on you.

private hospitals refer to general hospitals is not becos general hospital more experts. It is becos bad cases with bad results private hospital cannot take risk, die in their hospitals get bad names. More important reason is usually cost of treatment is getting out of control, ICU very expensive, somemore later patient die, relative wont pay, so quickly throw case out to general hospital.

Basically our case was referred to GH from private hospital. And my wife was critical and yet I need to settle full payment only they willing to release her.
Why my wife can be critical? Because that stupid doctor's mind only how to dig money from us, asking my wife to simply take something that not required. Each month's check up sure touches rm300 minimum.
And do visit Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in Seremban before you want to discriminate GH are bad. My wife are being examined by their head of department, even when doing c-sec, also done by him.
First day my wife can't move at all due to the drug used. But after 20 hours she can move along and never feel pain at all. Now she is in confinement center and all mothers are sitting together and chit chat. All did c-sec in private hospitals do feel the pain and worst case only can move around after 2 weeks.
At GH's labor room, there will be 1 specialist on 24 hours stand by with minimum 6 doctors doing normal delivery works.
And without hospital Tuanku Jaafar, there won't be SKLs in private hospitals as most of them are trained from this hospital.

I do agree the doctors in GH are very good. The only downside is the nurse. They treat the patient like sh*t, yell and scream at patient. That's why alot people don't want go GH because of these kinds of treatment else GH is cheap and good.

Hospital Name Here: Columbia Asia Puchong
Normal Delivery: ~RM2500
Baby Included: ~RM1000
O&G Specialist: Dr. Loo (Puchong) - Klinik Dr Chia and Loo
Comments:
Rooms:
Very limited rooms, they are always full! - From the time we request for visit until baby is delivered. In the end, we were given a sort of quarantined room with no window (to be fair, they told us beforehand and we agreed - or else we would spend the whole night in labor room)

Discharging under insurance:
Frustrating procedure and lack of proactive explanation on billing under insurance coverage. Our families waited for more than 3 hours (12pm-3pm++) without lunch for getting discharged despite asking the nurses around. In the end, I went to the admission counter and was told to wait until around 6pm before the procedure would complete. Best part was, they told me that since I had paid RM3000 deposit, it was optional for us to wait (?!!!). I immediately asked for discharge and deal the with deposit during our Pediatric visit.

First timer Breastfeeding:
Not enough support for first timer breastfeeding mother. My wife did not get enough support and guidelines in breastfeeding. The nursery staffs did briefly teach my wife but the support, professional information, patience and proactive follow-up were not up to our expectation. Worst of all, during the midnight when our newborn was crying and we asked for help, suspecting that diaper change was required, the nurse came and took him away until the next morning. We were worried if he did not get enough food (from my wife amateur breastfeeding) and I specifically asked if he was fed, the nursery nurse told us "Yes" - when we told them we would try full breastfeeding!

Price:
The only item that we do not have complaint about. Fairly priced and within our expectation.

Picture of the room: (if any) N/A
We visited Dr Ng for 3 times (as backup due we already planned to deliver in Columbia Asia Puchong) before my wife delivered a baby boy under Dr. Loo (Puchong). Overall feeling and comparison are Dr Ng is more detailed and patient attending you and your questions. Competition is stiff in the area with the likes Dr. Chia and Loo as they only charge 60% of how much Dr. Ng (and Columbia Asia Puchong) is charging.
Personal feeling/verdict: If you can afford, Dr Ng is a good option.

You need to have skills dealing with them.
First time(still born) and now we are getting best in class service from the nurse. They never yell at us also. Even I can go in without restrictions after visiting hours(as long as doctors not around).
I always bring some snacks for them. And when discharge, a cake.
You may call this as bribing them tongue.gif

Not to mention long queue especially waiting for delivery ward. My ex-staff was being turned away 3x before they checked her in. She was dilated 3 cm at 7 pm but being turned away, then at 10 pm - dilated 5 cm, also being turned away. She felt extreme pain at 1 am, dilated almost 7 cm and that's still not good enough. Finally at 3 am, she can't stand anymore and refused to leave the hospital. They managed to squeeze her in a ward and she gave birth almost immediately. The next day, she was discharged with her newborn. She swear off GH for her next child.

Actually I won't mind to pay more for nurses service. I had good experiences at Prince Court for my 2x deliveries and their nurses are top notch services. My first delivery, I remembered I was engorged on my 4th day and I voiced my concern. Immediately, a Lactation Consultant and a nurse came to offer help. They spent an hour with me, teaching me on how to hand express and tips to successful breastfeeding. After discharged, I still went back to the Lactation Consultant whenever I had issues with my breastfeeding. They offer help and support without charging anything. thumbup.gif

Hey Jumper08,

I just delivered in UM Private Wing; UMSC in July.

Natural Delivery, 2 night stay (I delivered at night; so I stayed that night; and one more night for observation only); baby healthy no jaundice.

Total Cost for Mummy is:  RM3,300+  (no epidural)
Total Cost for Baby is:  RM1,200+ (inclusive of injection ++)

Recommend to go to Prof Siti in UMSC; she pro-natural and will try her best to go for natural.  smile.gif  Hospital service is good.  Private wing only 3 delivery suite, so maximum there'll only be 5-6babies (approx) in the nursery, got personal attention.  Plus point also, if there's any complication (touch wood), they will straight away refer you to UH (government hospital with the most advance tools and technology and qualified obgyn), so you won't have to worry.  smile.gif

Hope this clears your query!

So, for the rest, contributing because I was searching for cost before I deliver too!  Hope this helps!

For monthly checkup I go to Bangsar Specialist Centre, Dr Kamaljit, amazing Dr as well.  smile.gif  Both highly recommended.  smile.gif

Would like to ask is husband allow to go in delivery room. What kind of injection for baby

if u plan to deliver in Selayang, check out their FPP program.
in whole malaysia only Putrajaya and Selayang have FPP program.
Do take advantage of it, if not have risk of wifey turned away when she dilated coz no bed.
