Hi, So any news for us?

I am going to deliver my baby there In July.

Since i am following Dr. Paul Tay, he will be closing his clinic in Assunta and will be full time in PCPM. This March will be my first check up with him in PCPM. Any idea how the charges.

Need you advise.

Thanks

Hi Celinetsk,

Is it PCPM or PCMC (Prince Court Medical Centre)?

Currently I'm seeing Dr Paul Tay at PCMC and due in early July too. PCMC standard charges is RM90.00 per consultant in regardless of which doctor you consult. PCMC charges for every single items you used, ie for urine test (they'll charge for urine dipstick, urine strips - costs RM7.50). So, normal consultation will cost RM97.50, including the baby's ultrasound and print out. An additional RM60.00 if using 4D machine (the pic is brown/yellow).

For Dr Paul, I think his charges are reasonable compared to other gynae in PCMC. Initially, my sister consulted a female gynae in PCMC, her bills always come out to RM200.00 - RM350.00 for a lot of misc charges. So, she gave up and went back to SDMC.

As for the delivery charges, I've pm-ed a few LY members who are using Dr Paul Tay and received one reply only as below:

"Normal Delivery (2 days 1 Night Stay) is RM 3800, Caesarean (3D2N + Anesthesia fees) RM 8800-9000, epidural RM 1000"

Hope this helps. smile.gif

6 months ago, normal delivery charges about RM7k.
*
This RM7k charges, is it inclusive of epidural? Any complications? How many days in the hospital?

Last week, I checked with Dr Paul Tay (PCMC), for elective c-section will costs RM8.5k, 3D2N, all-in charges including baby costs (price quoted without any complications, i.e. if baby develops jaundice, then the charges will be higher).

anyone done c-sect at PCMC before?

I've elective c-section at PCMC under Dr Paul Tay. Before delivery, he told me that it'll cost RM8.5k for 3D2N. When I delivered in June 2012, my bill for 4D3N is only RM8.5k without complication, in a premier room with sofa bed (for my husband), safe deposit box, coffee and tea facilities and toiletries.

I opted to continue my stay at PCMC after Day 4, as my baby has a mild jaundice and he was under the photo therapy for 24 hours.

As first time parents, my DH and I want to be more comfortable with our baby and need more help/guidance. So we continued our stay until Day 13 before we went home. Total bill is RM15k, still better than our expected budget which is at RM20k.

Dr Paul did suggest a cheaper room (they called it a lodger) however my DH didn't want to change room, so we stick to the premier room until we discharged.

PCMC is babies friendly hospital, which practices baby in-room with mummy and supports breast feeding. As my milk supply is low, I had to sign a consent form each time to authorize the nursery staff to give formula milk to my baby. The nursery staff will also come and check on the baby every 4-5 hours to make sure I breast feed my baby, how many times the baby passes urine or stool, etc.

I'll go back to PCMC again to deliver my next baby. Highly recommended!

Famous and very experienced doctor, but expect extremely long waiting queue and rushed consultation due to the long list of patients in queue.
So my and my wife would rather go for another Gynae that can spend more time explaining the questions and concerns we have, which we did smile.gif

As for delivering, we had a very good experience with the Midwife and nurses here. Very helpful, understanding and patient. Room, facilities and food quality are acceptable, just don't expect a 5 star treatment like some of the more expensive hospitals around smile.gif

Dr Tang is my first choice for gynae (I've done pap smear under her), however her queue is super long (average 2 hours per visit). My sister and my cousin had delivered their babies naturally under Dr Tang. My DH couldn't stand the queue even though he likes Dr Tang a lot. At the end, we choose Dr Paul Tay at PCMC and each visit is less than an hour. His nurse will call to inform us if he had emergency c-sect or delivery, so we will be kept waiting.

Dr Lai smile.gif

total bill is rm40xx, so when discharge just pay the remaining balance.
*
My deposit for elective C-Section is RM8.5k, and the last I asked, the deposit for normal delivery is RM5k (same as Akrami).

If I'm not mistaken, Dr Lai is not servicing at PCMC (Prince Court Medical Centre). Maybe you've mistaken PCMC as Pantai Hospital tongue.gif

My wife is 5 weeks pregnant, so I've got to hunt for O&G for a regular checkup already?
*
Congrats!

First, your wife has to start taking folic acid, which can be purchased in pharmacy, no prescription needed.

Then you can start hunting for O&G. The best time to set appointments is during Week 7/8 whereby you can hear the fetus's heart beat. If you go too early, your O&G might have to ask you to come back soon if he couldn't hear the heart beat.

If you go to any private hospital, an appointment is a must. Popular O&G might have to wait 4-6 weeks before you manage to set an appointment. I'm not too sure about government hospital but you might search older threads for these info. Cheers.

Thank you guys for the response. Yeah she's been taking folic acid already.

Basically I've narrow down the following?

Colombia Asia Setapak - Dr. Suhaimi Isa (Never been the the hospital, I don't know what's the conditions are like)
Damai Service Hospital - Dr. Halim (I heard that he's very busy, many patient. The building is small, and a lil run down).

Pantai Indah Medical Centre - (Traffic! Very familiar)

Gleneagles (Ampang) is nearer to us as well, but probably the most expensive.

Best to check with your wife if she is comfortable with male O&G. I have a few friends who insist to go female O&G. If you are exploring Gleneagles, maybe you can check out Prince Court as well. Their pricing are rather similar.

Anyone had experience in Park City medical centre? It's so new and haven't seen anyone discussing yet.... anyone mind to enlighten me? tongue.gif Thanks!!

Yes, anyone here can share the info on Parkcity Medical Centre?
*
My experiences in Park City Medical Centre isn't regarding the delivery but as in ER and overnight stay in the ward. I had been bringing my toddler to the ER about 4-5 times in a year due to minor incident like cough, fever, fell from bed, bad rashes and recently warded for overnight observation when he bumped his head.

Generally the place is new and clean but very empty ( there is a news store and Subway for eatery, cafeteria is yet to open ). While staff are good manners but a bit short of manpower. Parking is free at the moment. The ward is only on Level 7 and 8 for time being. No specific maternity ward or children ward, starting with 4- bedded room, 2 bedded room, single room, etc.

When my toddler bumped his head on the edge of the furniture, he bleeded quite badly and so we sent him to ER, which he was attended immediately. The Medical Officer paged their in house paed and hearrived within 5 mins. He stopped the bleeding and put on dressing, then he insisted my toddler to stay overnight for observation. We were fine with the arrangement, so my toddler was warded. He was discharged the next day, then the billed totalling close to RM1.2k, a bit shocking for me even though we stayed in a single bedded room. There wasn't any medication nor my toddler was on drip and the Paed just came once in the morning to discharge him.

I couldn't help but to compare this to Prince Court Medical Centre. PCMC is where I delivered my toddler and my toddler is under Dr Anna since Day1. My toddler was warded at PCMC too due to viral fever for 3 days. He was on drip, with medicine and Dr Anna will see him in the morning and evening (however she will only charged once). 3 days in a single bedded room with KLCC view, my bill was amounting to RM1.6k.

Even though the rooms in Prince Court are older than Park City, but it has a fridge and safe, toiletries and towel which are handy for overnight stay. At Park City, we had to bring these on our own. Another thing which I don't like about Park City is the insurance claim. I have to pay RM60 for filling the insurance claim form while in Prince Court, it is FOC. Besides that, we went back for specialist follow up, we were being charged RM5 for medical record while Prince Court has no such charges.

While I was in ER at Park City, I overheard another patient being turned away as they do not have the expertise to handle the case. The patient was experiencing numbness at one sided, the Medical Officer called the Neurologist as patient needs to be scanned with MRI, however Neurologist and the Radiologist were not available, therefore they had to tell the patient to go to other hospitals.

So for serious urgent cases, I think Park City is not ready to support the patients yet. But for minor cases, I will still go back to the ER as I'm staying nearby. I did ask about the delivery package too since I am expecting now, normal delivery is RM5k up and C-Sect is RM10k up. Anyway I'll stick with Prince Court as I am happy with my Gynae and Paed.

Thanks for the info on the PMC. By the way, do you mind sharing what is the cost like in PCMC.

I delivered my LO in 2012 under elective C-Sect, 4D3N, the bill was RM8.5k, however I extended my stay for 2 weeks (own choice to be pampered), so the bill was RM15k. This time around, I checked with my Gynae, he said the cost is more or less the same. So the range should be RM8k - RM12k (mommy and baby).

Delivered at Prince Court Medical Centre again for my second child. I have opted for elective c-section but baby decided to come out early, so it was an emergency c-section. Stayed 4D/3N under Dr Paul Tay without any complications for mummy and baby.

Mummy's bill: RM8.2k
Baby's bill: RM2.2k

As usual, happy with the services, nursing care and facilities. A breast feeding friendly hospital. thumbup.gif

I do agree the doctors in GH are very good. The only downside is the nurse. They treat the patient like sh*t, yell and scream at patient. That's why alot people don't want go GH because of these kinds of treatment else GH is cheap and good.
*
Not to mention long queue especially waiting for delivery ward. My ex-staff was being turned away 3x before they checked her in. She was dilated 3 cm at 7 pm but being turned away, then at 10 pm - dilated 5 cm, also being turned away. She felt extreme pain at 1 am, dilated almost 7 cm and that's still not good enough. Finally at 3 am, she can't stand anymore and refused to leave the hospital. They managed to squeeze her in a ward and she gave birth almost immediately. The next day, she was discharged with her newborn. She swear off GH for her next child.

i agree. i felt like i paid 4k for the nurses service in CA. the doctor only come in for 20 minutes total and i didn't see his face anymore.
*
Actually I won't mind to pay more for nurses service. I had good experiences at Prince Court for my 2x deliveries and their nurses are top notch services. My first delivery, I remembered I was engorged on my 4th day and I voiced my concern. Immediately, a Lactation Consultant and a nurse came to offer help. They spent an hour with me, teaching me on how to hand express and tips to successful breastfeeding. After discharged, I still went back to the Lactation Consultant whenever I had issues with my breastfeeding. They offer help and support without charging anything. thumbup.gif
