QUOTE(mfitri77 @ Oct 20 2010, 11:25 PM) That's the key here - Android. When android was designed, it was designed with touch screen as a focus - according to the specs, it would only support capacitive. The problem with Symbian is that it wasn't designed with Touch screen in mind - It was sort of grafted on when Nokia realized that they needed to be in the touch screen business. Hence the trouble they have implementing soft keyboard. Opera took the trouble to write their own Qwerty soft keyboard into the latest Opera for symbian. That should indicate how easy it is to tap into Symbian's soft keyboard implementation. I seriously dont get what you wanna say at all.

Look at it this way.
Best camera.
Anodized Aluminium Body
Capacitive screen
HDMI Out
USB On the Go
FM Transmitter (Okay, streching a bit)
Real-time Widgets
Etc.. In a slim body.
And Nokia STILL Can't freaking fix the soft key input? Or Copy it? Or whatever? Either they won't, or they can't. I'm inclined to believe the latter. Because that's the only excuse that's acceptable and logical.

QUOTE(andrekua @ Oct 20 2010, 11:32 PM) I seriously dont get what you wanna say at all. there is 1 main problem I think.. I personally think a big challenge for Symbian to become a touch capable is here... when it is origin from button operate.. it only support up to certain number of layers.. say 3 layers... coz u do not need so many layer in a non touch screen phone.. where it select.. then run.. it run on the main layers... now certainly u need so many extra layer to sense the input.. included on screen keyboard, touch sensing on the screen area... u have limited layer to utilize... where other OS are start from touch.. all this already taken into consideration.... and also few layer to use together to sense touch/input etc concurrently is a big enough challenge for Symbian...

LOL The keyboard is just an app. SlideIT already a prove that's its replaceable. With Swype later on, double confirmation. Even so, what's wrong with the keyboard?

Yep. That's my point. Only two OS to me got trouble with touch input. Blackberry and Symbian, bot of which weren't designed with touch screen in mind.

It's really to catch what you wanna point out. With the exception of pinch 2 zoom, what are the restriction to having a full touch capable device. Multi touch or not, most of the time, the input will still be one at a time.
