QUOTE(mfitri77 @ Oct 20 2010, 11:05 PM) No, you can't really treat keyboard as an app, just like no one actually write app to control phone functions. It's more or less written to give these services real time power over every other functions, less you have situation where you cannot key in anything in the keyboard if something freezes - case in point - resetting frozen device. What do you mean can't? Look at the variety of keyboard for Android, ranging from stock, HTC IME mod, swype, keyboard with keys that grew and shrink, and latest would be Blindtype since Google just wrote the owner a big paycheck.

Look at the variety of keyboard for Android, ranging from stock, HTC IME mod, swype, keyboard with keys that grew and shrink, and latest would be Blindtype since Google just wrote the owner a big paycheck. That's the key here - Android. When android was designed, it was designed with touch screen as a focus - according to the specs, it would only support capacitive. The problem with Symbian is that it wasn't designed with Touch screen in mind - It was sort of grafted on when Nokia realized that they needed to be in the touch screen business. Hence the trouble they have implementing soft keyboard. Opera took the trouble to write their own Qwerty soft keyboard into the latest Opera for symbian. That should indicate how easy it is to tap into Symbian's soft keyboard implementation.

Symbian smartphone battery indicators are like a bunch of chocolates. You'd never know how much actual power you have, until it's too late.
