Yeah!! Hearing loss sucks. I kena once before from swimming left ear muffled. Thought will go off after few days but stayed like 1 or 2 months until i finally went to see a doctor and get it fixed cos of trapped water or some shit like that. But it really sucks. All the tme people cant hear me speak because my ears got muffled i dont know how loud im speaking in real life so I kinda speak damn soft. Also difficult to hear others speak. Imagine if its permanent to both ears

I listen to music with earphone like 10 hrs everyday hope dun damage my hearing. Also studio session i dun wear earplug but still fine. Maybe my ear strong  icon_rolleyes.gif

10 hour a day, loud mou? And yeah, your ears may seem fine now, but it deteriorates slowly.

That's also Ear protection eh?

Yes actually. If you're talking about the headphones, I feel mine removes a lot of the highs, which is really good when I'm playing behind a drum shield.

And my church is getting new heads smile.gif Probably gonna go Remo again. Pinstripes on the Toms, PS3 on the kick.

Its not a matter of size > more protection really. Its about how it shields your ears from the noise, and wth IEms, its about both isolation and sound quality.

how u use it? listen to mp3 on the earphone while drumming? u can hear both your drumming and song from mp3 player together?
*
Not just mp3 smile.gif I use it to feed click tracks, my own drum sound as it is heard in the actual mix, and other instruments being played.

I'm not that familiar with programming. How do you play around with dynamics with those?
*
You can change the type of hit I think.
Besides that, you can adjust volume, the sounds, the mics, the skins used, and even the size of the room. Almost every sound recorded in a lot of the good programs are actual drums, not programmed hits like before.

According to The Independent:

This article talks about how we can improve our upper body strength for endurance, which I've found that a lot of drummers I've worked with do not have, especially if they haven't toured or played extensive setlists before. Just like how runners running a 10km race train for 20km, we should go above our limits too, I feel. Anyway, take a look.

Of course, we don't all have to look like Machine Gun Smith

or Andols Herrick of Chimaira, but anyway...

Around 90-100 bpm i think u also can play 16 with 1 hand
*
Yeah smile.gif Honestly, its pretty easy once you get into it.

My single hand 16 beat is with the shuffle movement style la, so my wrist does a lot of movement. smile.gif

I can do about 120bpm, then it starts to strain. tongue.gif HAHAHAHA!

QUOTE(OH- @ Sep 12 2011, 04:14 PM)
Guys, just wanna know. What headphones are you guys using?
Currently I'm using a Phillips Headphones (I bought it at RM80 which I think is overpriced) and the quality isn't that good. The sound is soft, and it does not remove outside sound, I mean, I can hear foreign sounds. Eg, I use my eDrum, and I can also hear the sound of the stick hitting the pad, even at full volume T_T

So I'm planning on getting a better one, which would you guys recommend? If can, the one can produce noise isolation quality (Dunno if that's the right term or not XD) And budget below RM 100..
*
I'll reply your first question first. I'm using a pair of Sony MDR-500 extra bass headphones. They costed about RM300+ when I got them last December. Sure, they don't fully isolate me, but I don't mind that, because then I can still hear myself playing if I'm not plugged into the monitors.
Perhaps you should try earphones? Cause I guess they do block your ear passage more.

Anyway, my band got third for the Star's MyChallenge competition on Saturday! First time that Pearl Forum's sounded so good. xD Remo heads, and I used my HHX hats, AAX ride, AAX crash and a friend's A Custom Fast Crash. We did a rock cover of Rolling In The Deep.

We don't have a fanpage for the band that went into the finals. Its my side project actually. smile.gif but we were in the papers a couple weeks back, and hopefully next week too wink.gif HAHAHAHA!

But as OH said, my main band is The Addiktion, and the link is in my sig. Only one recorded single to date, and not much crazy drumming, but we've got a lot of stuff planned for the year end.

QUOTE(OH- @ Sep 12 2011, 06:00 PM)
Wow, that sounds like way too expensive T_T
Thank tho for suggesting, will surely look it out. Well, actually for now, since I don't like those headphones, I'm using earphones with those ear buds. And they do perform well in terms of isolation and sound quality. But the wire is just like 1 metre long  sweat.gif

Congratz man, awesome
Wish there were more opportunities like that here in Perlis
The Addiktion  thumbup.gif
*
Ahhh xD Thank you.

Why not get an extension wire or something?

QUOTE(CreamCracker @ Sep 12 2011, 08:50 PM)
definitely  thumbup.gif
congrats!! nice cymbals you got there  smile.gif
*
Yes! I got them at a fantastic sale over a year ago. smile.gif
Yamaha was doing about 70% off. So I just grabbed them and ran for the counter tongue.gif

Anyway, is anyone up for some collaboration? I'm currently working on my solo EP, and I'm looking for guest drummers who might want to be involved in this project. Probably in November or December. Its going to be a mixture of hard rock, prog rock, and just a lot of experimentation. Maybe even pop.

What kind of drumming? Details?

QUOTE(OH- @ Sep 13 2011, 02:31 PM)
I'm interested, it's just that I don't think I'm good enough :/
*
Honestly guys, its not finalised yet. tongue.gif I'm still in the writing stages. Just throwing it out here just in case you guys want to collaborate, or give me ideas, or want me to write a song about something. smile.gif

I'll be doing bits and pieces of everything, gluing everything together, hopefully with help from you guys and some of my friends. So I guess that means, I'll be playing some of the guitar, some of the drums, some of the bass, some of the synth, some of this some of that. But I don't have all kinds of equipment, and I'm sure that you guys will have some crazy ideas and creative input that you guys can help me with. I'll probably do it during the November and December break.

The way it "project" is now, its very widespread, covering all sorts of genres. I'm trying to find an underlying theme or sound that I can use to stick everything together, to make it flow, instead of it being just a collection of songs. Still just halfway through the writing process now though, still looking for inspiration. I have about 5-6 songs down on pen and paper, with rough soundclips, thus far. Probably going to try for 25-30 songs, then choose the best few for this.

As for what kind of drumming it is, I can't say anything yet. But I do want the drumming in the album to have creativity and improvisation, which is how I enjoy playing, not just straight beats like a lot of albums. I'd probably need everything from metal, to everyday pop, to techno beats, jazz and so on. Especially rock.

This is what I have in mind so far: The opening track is going to be instrumental, with a very progressive kind of feel, which merges into the next track, which is hard-hitting yet catchy. The track following that will also be something rather general, with a rock-ish feel but nothing as heavy as the first one. After that song, the flow of music slowly breaks down into something a little bit slower and from there, the "project" moves into a more progressive feel, with odd timings and beats, a very spacious kind of sound that allows for build up and also has the flexibility to drop at a moment's instance. I estimate about a couple of tracks for that, then the music picks up to something very guitar-based and has a feel-good kind of vibe. Then it ends with an epic. biggrin.gif

We don't see people comparing electric and acoustic guitars. That's my view on drums. Both are different and can be applied for different things.
Sure. How many seats for you? I'm going but need to confirm with a few friends first. Should be able to call 22nd onwards. I'll give them a call then.
*
Yeah smile.gif Different applications, different uses et all. But of course, a hybrid of both is always awesome.
