So what is your specifications for your drums?

I'm currently using:

x2 8x10 Tom Tom
x1 9x12 Tom Tom
x1 12x4 Floor Tom
x1 4x6 Floor Tom
x2 18x22 Bass Drum
x1 5x14 Snare
x1 5x16 Snare

Bass Pedals-
L + R: Stock Pedals but Iron Cobra High-Tension Springs (Black - Maximum Power of all Iron Cobra Springs)

I have bought 2 sets of Tama Silverstar so I could expand my set from a basic one to the more advanced ones.

What about my cymbals?

x1 14" Paiste Brass 101 Crash
x1 10" Paiste PST 3 Splash
x1 16" Zildjian Planet Z Crash
x1 18" Paiste Brass 101 Crash-Ride
x1 21" Zildjian Planet Z Ride
x1 16" Sabian Solar Chinese (China)
x1 14" Zildjian Planet Z Hi-Hats

PS. All my Tom Toms and Bass are made of Birch Shells.

In the photo my China was an old one. But it is now replaced with a one mentioned above.

So what about yours?
Attached Image

I'm new to lowyat.net

And, I'm a Drummer.

I play stuff like Blast Beats, Gravity Blasts, Grinds, stuff like that. Very metal-ish.

But I do play Rock/Grunge/Classic-Rock/Hard Rock music. But I major in Metal.

I currently play to bands like Amon Amarth, Epica, Delain, Metallica, Killswitch Engage and Nightwish.

It seems there only chatting about new snare u buy and what kit you have in this thread discussion. Nothing much
*
You should check all the previous posts and the old threads before you talk crap.
There's discussion on technique, instructional DVDs, audio/video recordings, drum clinics etc.

I reckon I have the smallest kit here...
... grand total of only two drums:

A Dunnett with a titanium shell (foreground)
And a Pearl with a single-ply maple shell (hiding in the back)
Both 14x6.5

Axis Longboard: hi-hat stand and double pedals

Cymbals from Sabian:
HHX Evo hats 14", crash 16", ride 20"
HHX Ozone crash 18"
HHX china 20"
Paragon ride 22"

Plus other stands, cases/bags and accessories

Seeing as I live in a condo, I don't get to use my own set much, apart from recordings and some gigs, where I take bits and pieces of the set along.

But since you asked, this is pretty much my own kit (drums lah, I use more cymbals everywhere else smile.gif)

user posted image

Ludwig Epic Funk with a Pearl Steel Piccolo

Features 20”x22” Kick, 8"x12", 7.5"x10", and 7"x8” Toms and a 15”x16” Floor Tom.
I sold the original snare without using it smile.gif

With Sabian AAX Stage Ride and Stage Crash along with HHX Stage Hats.

One of my more recent setups can be seen in the previous page with full details. Tama Superstar w/two rack toms, two floor toms and two snares, and lots of cymbals.

user posted image

From left to right (Sabian unless stated): HHX Stage Hats 14', AAXplosion Crash 15', AAX Stage Crash 16', Stagg DH Splash 8' over AA MiniChinese 12', AAX Stage Ride 20', Zildjian ZBT Crash 16'.

Kit: Tama Superstar Hyperdrive with the usual Iron Cobras. Snares are a old Pearl Forum snare and my Pearl Piccolo, with a scooped tone. The Superstar snare was just too.. I dunno lah. Didn't blend smile.gif

A kit that I use often live (no pictures at the moment, will upload soon) is a Tama Swingstar Japan (old tongue.gif) with 4 rack toms and one floor tom, along with 3 Zildjian A Custom/A Crashes and A Custom Hats and Ride.

user posted image

This was my recording setup. PDP 805 and all Sabian AAXs except for the HHX hats and a Paragon Ride (out of picture)

Anyway, I use Tama Iron Cobra Rolling Glides for my double pedals. biggrin.gif

I listen to a lot of progressive and metal nowadays (again!) but have a more open playing style.

When I session for bands, I rent/borrow kits according to the style of the band and add in whatever I feel is necessary to blend in, and I only use my own if absolutely necessary (packing+transportation is sleep.gif).

I use mainly Sabian AAXs and HHXs with one or two other cymbals thrown in when I need them. (or when they are around) No such thing as too many cymbals wink.gif

treflip, that DW snare of yours arrived already? How are you planning on getting the kit? Personally, I would just go for the Performance shell pack. Unless you have a lot to spend, by all means, go for something better.

Anyone here uses any remote hi hat?

I think Performance series too. All the features and quality, at lower cost.

Hey, we should all pool our snares and have a meetup. It'll be nice to try out other snares, and see how you all tune up your most important drum(s).

hopefully the snare will arrive latest by end of the month...and for the collector's series set im thinking of all maple sehlls but also considering the eco-x...planning in getting from online music store, or ebay, or last resort JS music...my vocalist has set up budget for drums around RM13k (not including cymbals)..hehehhe...but as for my set im using only 4 piece kit so wont be as expensive as those standard 5 piece or 7 piece kit =)

but somehow the performance series seems interesting...and also a friend of mine (Faizal Tahir's drummer) said that certain tone coming from the tom aint that awesome as compared to the DW collector's series...but then again it comes down to personal taste so yeah hehehe...but the aesthetic value of the performance series is aint that awesome since it is made in Mexico but build quality and all is still DW standard =) so it is a win win situation when buying the performance series =)

Can discuss on head choices as well. Hehe... time to rant about Aquarian.
I've an acoustically treated room and a calibrated (flat) condenser mic. If someone can bring a good snare mic, like a SM57, we can do pretty nice recordings of the collection of snare drums.

Snare meetup? Unfortunately I'm only available May onwards. I have a pair of 57s, a 58, a pair of overheads, and a set of cheap drum mics and stands. Its all underutilized, so this might be a good place to finally make good use of it. It would be more interesting if someone can bring few types of hoops too.

I use a remote hat SOMETIMES if there's space/time to set one up for gigs, for example, if its a 4 piece set, or the cymbals can be positioned in a strategic place that does not interfere with my regular setup lah.

Form a businessman point of view... LESS RESALE VALUE. xD

For that price, you could actually get a high end Yamaha too smile.gif But if you're a DW guy who needs to have DW, why not? If you get Performance, you could have money for an extra snare.

Oh man, the pdp 805 looks sweet. Can you still get 805s? i asked one of the music stores and they said it's been discontinued.

An SM57 with stand and cable would be perfect.
May onwards ka... sounds about right since I'm pretty occupied as well. Maybe even June.
