Dell Studio is fine if you don't demand much on gaming....
But what price and spec?
*
Intel® Core™ i5-460M (2.53GHz, 2Core/4Threads, turbo up to 2.8GHz, 3MB cache)
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English)
4GB (2GBx2) 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (operates at 1066MHZ for Core i3/i5, and i7-620M processors)
500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
15.6 " 720p WLED (1366x768) Display with TrueLife™
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 545v
Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Combination Drive with dual layer write capabilities
Dell 1520 Wireless-N Card
McAfee® Security Center (Multi-Language) - 15 Months Version

The studio has better CPU but weaker GPU, ATi HD545v is basically ATi HD4570 while the 14R has ATi HD550v which is ATi HD4650..
GPU helps more for better gaming than CPU...
So, if your priority is gaming, 14R is better...

and HD5650 from Acer 4820TG, better than those two...

it's actually for my dad. just normal office work. maybe some light multimedia stuff like watching movies, a bit of picture touching up with picasa, that's all.
want a smaller one for mobility's sake.

Dell's offering seems ok, how about other brands? Would you recommend a 14"? because prices of some 14" seem to be cheaper hmm.gif

Performance is not really an issue here, so i guess sandy bridge is out of the picture for now.

Fujitsu LH520, AMD P320 + ATi HD5430, freeDos@RM1499
Toshiba C640D-1005U, P6000 + GMA HD, freeDOS@RM1549
Toshiba C640D-1004U, AMD P320 + ATi HD4250, freeDOS@RM1449

Sifus, which 1 is better if base on my requirement as below:

~ Mainly for Microsoft Office, some simple Photoshops, movies, simple games (not 3D), web surfing.
~ Light weight + portability
~ Long battery life.
~ Let's just assume both of them are same price.

Thanks thumbup.gif
