An answer to the question asked earlier about "why didnt you choose the other 4 coys but the 5th": Just tell them that you will be applying to those companies too. From my experience, companies like to employe people who are sought after by their competitors. That's assuming that you cant find a significant difference between them. If the 5th company is a niche company, then you have to think of something else to say.

tips for interview: BE URSELF!
resume says alot about a person, it's the only ONE thing that the employer have b4 the interview & if your resume is powerful enuf to land u a call up for an interview, half the battle is won. the other half battle is plain easy: BE URSELF + CONFIDENCE. that was how i got my 1st job right after uni.

I just back from an interview at one of the big4.

they ask: whether im hardworking or not?
i answer: not really.

they ask: how i do study or do revision during my uni life?
i answer: last min.

they ask: am i a pro-active type of person?
i answer: depends on situation.

but i tink that aint important lar...

how do you see urself in 5 yrs if u get recruit?
i answer, 5 yrs is not a short period, whereby i will try to learn and gain as much xperience as possible and completing my cpa program within these 5 yrs period...

i tink the above answer sux big time... i neva think of what i will be and what im trying to pursue...sigh sad.gif

I won't answer that directly. I'd say, based on my xp in this environment i am confident to quickly adapt and, well, bring some good results for you quickly... and am glad that you are giving me a chance at this vacancy here...

But thats my style, i dont like to answer head on. If that doesnt click with the potential boss, then too bad lah. Thats why interview also help you to see if you CAN work with that fella or not (vice versa).

I don't think you can get away with late nite work in many workplaces, esp MNC. If safety is a concern by all means don't take shift jobs/ late nite jobs because we work to survive/live, not work to put ourselves in high risk.

A decent answer would be: I am willing to work as long as I can complete the assignment, even if it is necessary to work late.

Its quite a popular question, but it may not necessarily mean you SURE HAVE plenty of late nights, just a way for internviewer to test you.

i have attended the interview at Miri, but my workplace is in Btu. After the interview, i got confirm by the partner at Btu through phone and he said he will send me the offer letter through e-mail. After a week, i still not yet receive the offer letter. should i ask for it or reconfirm it?

FYI, i will only be working at tat particular office Jan'08...

not a question from the interviewer, but a question we need to ask from the interviewer.

Its dangerous to take things for granted. I have conducted interviews before and 'When can you start work?' is like a standard question. It is to check your availability. If the company have to wait too long then they might look to other candidates. If you are currently employed and you say immediately, depending on circumstances, you might be perceived as a irresponsible person with no commitment to your present company.

how do you expect us to help you with this question when we don't know you personally?

for this, you really have to ask yourself. what was really hard for you until you failed despite trying so hard? this could be academic or non-academic related. for instance, say you failed or did not do well in an academic subject: Further Maths? Advanced Maths? etc.. You probably can tell them that you knew it was gonna be hard and you decided to take up the challenge. It then turns out not to be your thing. Then, put a twist to this negative statement; telling them what you've learnt from it. Like for instance, you might have consulted your lecturers/organised study groups with friends etc.. you can mention those things! tell them that although further maths isn't what you like, you gained invaluable skills out of it. You probably discovered what your true passion really is through this, or you realise what you really enjoy is working together in a team etc..

i hope that helps.. perhaps, u can tell us more about yourself and we might be able to help you smile.gif

True, either you speak from personal experience, or cook up some bull story that sounds good (and standby the story for any interview that requires it). That's it.

Remember to tell them what you learned from the failure and how you can do better next time. Don't just say I failed to do so "full stop".
