Just say something like.... from my communications with working people, many say what they learn in school do not apply in the working world, but 1 thing which i carried from my education and put pride in is my learning ability. I learn as much as I can about what I have to do and to be able to do it well, blah blah blah.

Hi,

IMHO, if I am the interviewer, I will fail you based on your answer. The difference between a hardworking and learning person and a spoon feeded diploma/degree person is that one of them came prepared and do his/her homework.

In this day and age of the Internet, it does not take long for a person to find out more information about the company and the job that a person is applying to. A person should do his/her homework before the job interview and being able to quote specific and relevant task/projet/coursework that prove his/her capability to do the job.

If a person answer me with a general answer, that means the person had not done his/her homework.

hi there ,

IMHO , being confident is correct .. as for me , first impression is the most important moment during interview ... u should evaluate all the candidates that are competing with u .... dress well , speak clearly , firm shake hand , smiling face , good eye contact ... may be other members can highlight more ...

and one more things is ur personality and charisma ..

Hi,

IMHO, if you have a pass/fail criterion on your "interviews", you have failed as an interviewer due to your narrowminded prejudice.

And if i was your boss i'd fire you.

p.s. In this day and age of the Internet (to quote you) i'm surprised you'd say something like "I've never heard of Mizzou" when google is just a few fingertaps away.

Personality and Charisma is most important, first impression last forever. Usually too friendly is not that good during interviews also, have to be more serious

Hi,

If you do your homework before the interview aka you do extensive research on the company and the job before the interview, you will come prepared for the interview. Then, you will be confident. Otherwise, you get what you pay for..

Hi,

If someone comes to an interview and do not come prepared to answer one of the most common question in interview, the person is either lazy or stupid. Neither type of people is required for my company. And, why should I waste my time to talk to those kind of people. My time is valuable. This is perfectly reasonable. If you do not take the interview seriously, I do not take the person seriously either.

I work in networking area. The possibility of mis-communication is always present. Instead of possiblity of insulting you by saying Mizzou is University of Missouri - Columbia, I would rather make sure and ask for acknowledgement.

Assume -> Making an ASS of U and ME.

I would rather look stupid and making a fool of myself but getting the right information than looking smart and asume the wrong thing.

You are not answering that person's question. Why do you want to do X if you're a fresh grad who studied Y? It's a simple direct straightforward question. There's NO amount of preparation that will help you answer that question other than the truth. Like I said, if you're not open to answers, you don't make a very good interviewer. Besides, tell me you know every single company out there, for crying out loud, since you have the internet at your disposal. Most people never heard of Top Glove or SEG International until they went public. some employment agency don't even tell you what company you will be interviewing for until 2 days before the actual interview. So please, spare us your "do your homework" lecture as if we don't already know something that has been mentioned a bajillion times over the past 18 pages.

p.s. If you didn't know what Mizzou was just say so.

Hi,

The job of a good interviewer is to find out wheher a person is suitable for the job that a person that is applying to. That's it. And, if the interviewer can efficiently get rid of job applicant that is not suitable, he/she is doing a great job.

Knowing and doing are two different things. Why everyone knows that they should do their homework before job interview but 99% showed up unprepared?? Actually, that is good for me. I can reject people quickly and easily..

"direct straightforward question"

You must be joking!!! The question might be simple. But, it makes a hell of difference depending on how you answer it. Compare the following two answers:

A) I do not know.

B ) I did some MLM stuff while I was in college and I find that I like selling stuff to people. So, IT sell position combine what I love and what I learn in college and it seem like a good fit for me.

If you do your homework, you will try to find stuff that you have done before that show that you know how to sell and if possible the product that the company is selling.

just one short note, pplz.
don't ever think of memorising any of these Q&A's!!! be cool, be yourself, and have a good chat with your interviewer. they know if you're spitting answers from memory...

and...good luck!:D

so much about the most frequently asked questions...
the last time i went for an interview the only question
they ask is what is my weaknesses.
the rest of the questions are actually asked indirectly.
preparing for the answer... i think its not necessary.
at 1st i thought its important too. but i didn't do it in the end.
a friend told me- ' at the end of the day, its about who you are.'
i mean you can lie or brag or make believe about who we really are.
im glad i did not prepare the answers to the questions
though i spend a couple of hours reflecting upon myself and regathering my thoughts.
on that day....im just myself.

Maybe you could mention some good qualities about yourself?

For example,

If you were to hire me, you would not just be hiring a hard worker but a team worker as well which strives on moving forward not individually but as a whole to bring the company to greater heights and higher achievements. I will be fully commited to my work and will work hard to achieve the targets set out for me.

Just a simple one smile.gif

Else you can focus on;
- Leadership skills
- Responsible
- dedicated to lifetime learning
- a strong personal vision, goals and objectives
- willingness
- Would not easily give up

The sky is the limit biggrin.gif

As far as my simple research goes, leadership skills, business awareness, teamwork, continuous learning, versatility and as well as honesty are highly sought after qualities ...

The most important thing is to be able to solve the company problems. They hire you because of specific need. Achieving the goals is the top priority. Everything else comes 2nd.

One more tip: don't sell yourself cheap. It's not only the salary one, but also to self-value properly. Ask specific questions about the job and future prospects. Make sure you leave an impression the company has to compete to get you (through offering interesting package) and thay would get a great deal.
