Hey guys, been itching on jumping onto the x100 camp for some time now. Just found 1 used unit with 11 months warranty left for RM2k and decided to bite the bullet.

But then now I'm struggling whether or not to save that little bit more for x100s. It seems to have the improvements for most of the complaints made by x100 users, and a better sensor too. haha, decisions decisions!!

i think the x100s price would be around 3.5k to 4k when its release. so u r paying 1.5 or 2 more for a new model. better go for the used x100 with 2k.

To all the Sifu here,

Do you have any tips of focusing in low light conditions? I find that my subject always not getting correct focusing during lowlight and always get blurred out.

Thanks!

Use your eyes to judge. Estimate the number of meters your subject is away from you and use manual focus. If meters are not intuitive, then use feet, every 3 feet is a meter. The sensor of the x100 is big and so is it's low light performance. Thus bump up the iso and make the aperture smaller so you get a larger DOF and more things will be in focus despite your rough estimate.

well,

bette sensor and faster AF doesn't help you take better pictures. can always argue otherwise, but really it's that simple tongue.gif

can always ask those fellas 20 30 years ago who were using leica III smile.gif

well said. But, better sensor and faster AF do make it easier to get better pictures. By the end of day, spend within budget will do.

can always wait longer and see if x100 price further adjust after x100 s out or not.

But with a camera with slow af. I sometimes find myself struggling to get pictures where people will start noticing about you when you're trying to get in focus.

So faster af sometimes should be more handy. not? or im just too noob. hahaha

You mean like street photography? You have a point there, but the x100 is really a 23mm lens you'll probably be right up in the face of most people anyway when you're taking a picture, at least that's how I feel. It's unlikely that they won't notice you anyhow

Quite true, after some thinking and coin tossing(lol), for the current price of used x100, doesn't seem worth it to pay the premium for x100s. Might just save that few grands and spend them in accesories like flashes and wide converters.

Since all cameras are just compromises, might as well spend the time and make myself a better photographer, sometimes poorer cameras actually provide better learning curve. Shoot more! =)

Might be grabbing the x100 and join this community by next week.

there are many ways to go around the slow af. zone focusing, manual focusing, higher f-stop, higher shutter speed, etc.

and a big plus - if af is slow, and you successfully manage to still capture everything as intended...... damn you feel so awesome and powerful man! you understand and realise that it's YOUR skill that made the picture. not the camera. the "feel good" factor after taking pic cannot be taken for granted man.

After conversion into SGD and including additional import costs to bring the cameras into Singapore, I estimated RRP to be S$999 for X20, and S$1,799 for X100s. If you have been keeping track of the RRPs for the X10 and X100, you might have observed that the RRPs are the same for the X10 and X100 a year ago.

Why worry so much on the technical aspect of a camera (fast AF, iso performace, focal length, *megapixels* well my Leica M8 just have 10.3mp, blablabla). I know I don't tongue.gif hehehe
Just focus on your composition and learn more about lighting or if you want a reliable focusing system there is such thing as manual focus *just sayin* biggrin.gif

Who needs the X100s when the X100 is already a-no-complain-camera for me. rclxms.gif Unless if i seriously bust the camera up bad.

Anyways here are some recent shots from my beloved X100
