Rooney's a striker. And what do strikers need? Passes from midfields, in which usually, the midfields dictate the game.
What can we learn from other teams? They have strong midfielders. Or even the latest merseyside derby, of which the blue side had a strong midfield , which glued together and played well.
Our midfield, in particular, the centre, as I have always said, isn't all that strong as of late.
We need a great central midfielder who can boss the game, and and an attacking midfielder who can give passes which breaks the toughest of defences.
Nani is a good midfielder, but he plays off the right striker, and would be considered as a right winger, who plays like,a striker.
Consider the 98/99 team, we had at least 3 central midfielders who can play the game whatever they wanted to. And to look into this current side, we're jam packed with strikers.
Rooney, Chicarito, Berbatov , Owen,Macheda , Nani.
All of which, do not have a source of passes of which they can run into.
Another thing would be aggression, I don't think the other teams come to old trafford, or play against us, knowingly that we have a fierce squad. (Cantona, Keane ). The Premiership tremble having both of them lifting it's trophy, what else the teams in them.
If you can see, Rooney + Berba always have to come deep into the field, needing the ball, which they should have been making great runs into the defense. And why is that? Because of the lack of midfielders.
Scholesy is coming of age, and please, I do not rate Fletcher any higher than Macheda is. Carrick needs to find his old boots, and Hargo needs to stop dating the nurse.
Spot on.
