The current AF SLRs/dSLRs also have 2 mirrors in case anyone doesn't know. Already, the main mirror in an AF SLR/dSLR is half transparent to let light go down to the AF module.

ieR: Well done!

shootkk: Could it be a diopter thing?

albnok : I dunno. In any case I did not play around with the A33 for long enough to figure it out. Maybe if someone with a A33 or A55 can let me test it out?

Anyone knows how much the 85mm f2.8 SAM will be priced in M'sia? I'm dying to know.

-46 megapixel 24×16mm APS-C sensor
-Lightweight yet solid magnesium alloy body
-Weather-resistant O-ring sealing connections
-Dual ‘TRUE II' image processing engines
-11 Point Twin Cross AF Sensor

even Sigma also knows the importance of weather-resistant bodies.

and Leica has come out with more cool stuff. biggrin.gif

So what does the new NEX firmware give, exactly?

http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1285109120.html

Also, tilt-shift adapter for Nikon lenses on NEX bodies!

http://www.lensbaby.com/

shootkk: Under RM1k by the weather.

cplow1: Eneloops can really last.

hiansitt: No it's not really 46 megapixels; it's 3 layers of 15 megapixels each.

zstan: There has been one old Sigma SD body sitting in the display cabinet of YL Camera. One of the earlier Foveon models.

this is not Sigma's 1st dSLR.. its that they are not placing most of their resources into making one.. their sensor tech is different in a way that it is as though there are 3 separate sensors for R, G and B...

so only lenses which have built-in motors can AF right? sigh. means all my current lenses cannot AF on the NEX irregardless got update or not. cry.gif

what lenses can the sigma use? all their lenses produced are for different mounts. do they have their own mount? hmm.gif or it can fit C/S/N mounts altogether? laugh.gif

zstan: The Sigma mount is an offshoot of the Canon EOS mount - some people have modded their Sigma mount lenses to Canon EF mount.

I am aiming for the 24mm Zeiss but that one's almost 3 times the price of the 85mm so it will take 3 times as long, if not longer for me to find the funds to get it. In the mean time, I can be happy with the 85mm f2.8! thumbup.gif laugh.gif icon_idea.gif

Finally yesterday I get to try A33. I think my comment will be mostly similar with those who have tried it:

1. First impression.. WOW smaller than expectation (eventhough i heard of this many time oredi).. but the grip should b quite comfortable (hard to really feel it because of the stupid big cable thing attached below the camera in sonystyle)
2. my finger has a bit problem searching for the front Scroll.. basically need to adjust my holding position in order to reach the scroll..
3. control works fine for me.. easy access to important setting Like WB n ISO.
4. Liveview = cool...maybe I have not really tried out the A550 liveview so this seems to be super cool & new for me.. hehe
5. electronic Viewfinder= First when I look into it, I find it very uncomfortable.. hard to immediately get use to it... when pointing to my friend's face.. it has a weird "red" to it... it just feel very digital..but amazing thing is whatever the liveview lcd can do, the EVF can do it.. Play back etc...WB & all settings. Again... because i so used to OVF it takes a while to get comfortable... But i bet most who bought this camera will rely on the LCD most of the time.
6. Focusing speed is amazing.. test it on walking people and moving my fingers in front of the camera.
7. Couldnt Test the VIDEO.. why cant sony just put a Memory card in it. After all its strong point is VIDEO for this camera
8. I hate the ISO setting Jumping from 800 to 1600 directly (same like my old A100) but nevertheless , Iso 1600 is completely usable.
9. This one I am not too certain.. But i Find focusing a little bit difficult when comes to low contrast object.....example shooting a pea on the table.. the center focusing is aiming quite close at middle of the green pea.. is difficult to focus.. I have to move the focus point to the edge of the peas to get the focus "beep". I believe my A700 can easily handle that.

Will I buy this?? I still not sure...I have to research more about video because this will be a camera which i like to explore on its video capability. The different Battery(heard is weak on A33/55) & memory card compare to my A700 also a thing that hold me back from buying. A quick question: is it only advisable to shoot video using the SSM lens(with autofocus)? so that the focusing transition will not be so erupt ?
