im not sure if everyone is aware of this.
few things need to consider, when the product have "known issue" and if its going to dangerous, it going to be recall world wide.
this happen before to few manufacturer battery and ac adapter

2nd if the product having known issue such as easy broken hinge, or other part quality materiel is either they stop selling it or fix the issue.
this happen to few of dell product, you dont see M1330 and M1530 selling anymore when they realize there is known issue with Nvidia video card that cant be solved.
the video card which is on motherboard going to last 1 year max and its going to die, if you were lucky, you can get 2 years.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CitUQCRCNHM

you will also get 1 year warranty of the motherboard and if you had replacement within that year , the motherboard automatic has another 1 year warranty till 5 years

http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2...nt-details.aspx

now how does dell solve the issue and come out with new part ? if you notice on your ac adapter, battery and most of the parts in your laptop / desktop it has sticker something start like CN-0XXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX REV A00
the last part A00 mean revision A00, sometimes your see A05 mean this part has been revise 5 times , it might have few issue before and it has been fixed. same as BIOS, you have A01, A02, A03. everytime you flash new BIOS it fix issue and sometimes might come out with new issue. if the issue cant be fix, dell for sure will stop selling because cost to repair it is not worth the money. at the time you see M11x R1 and M11x R2 using  same hinge, same body, same video card, same LCD, mean Dell is making good profit and they want to continue to improve the CPU speed by changing new motherboard. so R1 and R2 sharing almost the same parts, some major part like CPU, RAM, video card might be different. so for someone to say dell know the product have known issue and not doing anything is not true.

edit
and of course, most users use Dell because of the service not really on the product quality or price.
i had acer and HP before when i was back in studying, for acer to replace cdrom drive take nearly 2 months while dell only take 2 days.
so i stick with dell since then, was like 5 years ago since i use dell.
i had use many dell system, i can list those product or post picture if you want.

im still going to disagree with you awyongcarl, for example on M15x and M17x if you notice there were some issue with the laggy touchpad.
its been going a while till dell find out and fix it, they come out with latest BIOS and tauchpad driver to solve this issue.
when i had this issue on my M15x, it was seriously bugging me.

Disagree me on what?
I sure did noticed the low pole-rate touchpad when I got my M15x.
Yeah they fixed it. Took them long enough though.

Your point?

Anyway, I think comparing a semi-defect touchpad which can be easily fixed by using a mouse, and a hinge that is going to fail easily, not too fair is it?

aik? tak abeh2 lagi? dude... everyone on this tread know about u dissatisfaction for m11x... complaining here won't change the fact that m11x hinge is a huge problem... summore the way u r saying it, its like those who bought m11x are idiots knowing that it has a hinge problem yet, us m11x owner still buy it from dell (this is what i meant by insults)... if u r that angry, juz dun buy m11x... go get other laptop for ur mobility usage... u have a lot of other choices out there... why complain when u can forget about getting m11x and go get other brand of laptop?

That just laptops. Every one of them have issues, especially when it first came out. Dont buy the first revision, wait for it to mature first only buy.

Regardless what you buy, it always have issues. The only difference is how severe it is.

i am too tired to enter such a serious discussion like this, burden with assignment and reports sad.gif

what i able to conclude is - Dell well known about this matter, thats why they willing to cover within their warranty. its not easy to suddenly stop the production due to this minor error (compared to Nvidia 8 Series, for example) where they can fix it after the purchase. and to repair the root of this matter, you need to directly do some modification on factory that located in China. maybe they doing it right now, so what you can do it bear the problem. if thats too difficult for you, don't into it.

yes, it just as simple as that.

i did read your argument about how if the problem occur during presentation and in some sort of island. see it this way ;
- you expect that problem, so you don't really shocked.
- Dell can fix it FOC
- Dell come to your desire location (not till island of course) and you don't have to start the engine to head to KL center.

alright for example you did brought Asus over M11x. and similar problem occur.
- you don't expect any problem will occur, so you will be extremely pissed since you thought only M11x is problematic (lulz)
- you might have to pay for it.
- say goodbye for your time and tolls. not to mention your petrol money as well.

Well, if one wanted to be blind, so be it.
I'm a M15x owner and I'm very happy with it.
Now I wanted to get a m11x too, for mobility sake, but given the known major issue, I'm not sure anymore.

And no, if I know the issue is right in front of my eyes, I'm not getting it. s often as m11x? Face it...

if you want something as an alternative why not try the Asus VX6? not as powerful but hey... it performs~ thumbup.gif

I doubt Asus will charge for warranty claims. Still, on the bottom line, dont expect your laptop to be 100% problem free.

There is bound to be problems through the life span of the laptop.

Actually.. It was HighPoint, not acer.

Just take ticket then face to face with that guy on counter, and he asked me to wait at the sofa there xD. Replace CD-ROM under warranty takes only 20 mins provided they have spare parts.

EDIT: and at that time the guy was talking to another customer which brought his whole desktop there (lulz) I also cant believe he fixed it while handling a customer
