QUOTE(riku2replica @ Oct 16 2010, 09:02 PM) if the laptop is new, you can call and try your luck.sometimes they change event 1 dead pixel, just tell them how bright the dead pixel is and how annoying it is when watching movies. Picture below has nothing to do with dead pixel, just showing off my M17x Added on October 16, 2010, 10:04 pm QUOTE(abesabraham @ Oct 16 2010, 05:00 PM) Hi! There are fixes for M15x and M17x R2, for M17x R1 still no update.Add my name to the M15x owners list! Btw, i have a question about the synaptics touchpad. Is it always this draggy? Like its not laggy or anything just that the motion in which the cursor moves is not so smooth. Please go to support.dell.com and get the latest touchpad driver, and yeah update the BIOS too. QUOTE(JustinLFJ @ Oct 17 2010, 01:07 AM) Want to ask, is the M11x's AlienFX can have more than 1 color? So far i see M11x user's pic they have only 1 color.. and not being able to change it to other color or mix colors you change all the colours except the back cover, the keyboard can only select 1 colour at time but changeable unlike M15x and 17x, keyboard has 4 changeable colour.![]() Alienware M17x ![]() Alienware M11x This post has been edited by Safar: Oct 17 2010, 01:22 AM |

Enabling Surround Sound
The primary function of the SigmaTel Audio Control Panel is to allow the system to be connected to external speakers for surround sound. By clicking on any of the large icons on the Jack Setup tab, a pop-up menu is displayed. One of the options on the menu will be to configure the connector for one of the surround speaker settings. This still requires the user to connect the correct speakers to the correct connector, as each connector only has one surround sound option. The surround sound speaker designations are as follows: Far left connector (pink) - for MIC / not used in 5.1 sounds system Left connector — Front speakers Middle connector — Center / LFE speaker Right connector — Rear Speakers This post has been edited by Safar: Oct 17 2010, 11:48 PM |

QUOTE(casperito @ Oct 18 2010, 12:02 AM) stripping means voiding the warranty?? for all dell system there is 2 type of parts, one is FRU (Field removable unit - done by Dell certified technician) and CRU (Customer removable unit)by the way, anyone know any good laptop cooler for m11x? if nothing is good, im gonna order custom mad ones from AllnGap... he did a damn great job on my ram cooler last time... Removing CRU yourself wont void the warranty, and FRU is only recommended to Dell certified technician and removing this parts yourself will void the warranty. but if you get help over the phone on removing this FRU parts, it wont void the warranty. if you dont know which parts is FRU and CRU, you can call the help line and get advice. helpline are open 24hours for customers with warranty. also if you notice, Dell does not use warranty sticker like other brand, so if you know how to stop your system, no one know you open it. QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Oct 19 2010, 01:08 AM) 1 - yes sudden shut down for laptop is more or less likely the same as desktop. for #5 , it does not shorten dell battery lifespan, not sure for other model but im sure it does not do for dell battery.2 - you might face corrupted file but nowadays most of the software are equipped with autosave within certain time interval, so no big deal. 3 - yes if you occur improper shut down frequently, its a great chance for your Windows to be corrupted. same things goes when your Windows installing something after you update it. if sudden shut down occur during that process, just prepare for the worst. 4 - not sure about mobo's failure, but personally i do think its possible. better safe than sorry mate. 5 - because some people think using DC together with battery will shorten battery lifespan. i don't give a crap about that, i love my mobo more than my battery dell battery use special model inside it, when the battery is full and you are connected with ac adapter, the power go direct and by pass battery. there for the battery is not event been used. once a while you are recommended to drain out the battery and fully recharge it. maybe once a month. remove the battery out from the system can slowly kill the battery. the battery also design to last around 1 - 2 years. a battery cost around RM200 - RM300 while motherboard of course going to cost more if your system no more in warranty. old type battery is different, when its connected its going to charge, but this is on old type of laptop / handphone / PDA / camera. all new battery are design to stop charge and by pass the battery when the battery is 100%, you will notice on the battery meter that battery is 100% Fully Charged, its not charging anymore.
