Whoever plan to buy homeplug, don't go for Aztech HL280E Gigabit, it is very buggy, will keep dropping and restart. I read same comments from many users in the Hardwarezone forum. I almost thinking of running a CAT 5e or CAT 6 cable, then saw this announcement of HyppTV no more free after Oct 31. So, no point la, I definitely will not pay to watch the HyppTV with its current programmes.
I suggest looking at using Wireless-N network infrastructure rather than these electrical wired ethernet. I have been using D-LINK 615 (the commercial version, not the TM version, hardware version A - quite ancient), a basic N-wireless router and the stability of the unit amazes me. I have been getting 100% signals and 300Mbps connection speed between my living room and the study room upstairs in my Bandar Utama house. I have found that in order to achieve these connection, the following considerations are important:
a. Placement of the router, avoid confined places with glass panels, for my case I placed it on top of my floor standing speaker about 1 m away from back wall and 1 m from the ground.
b. Router channel selection, use DLINK wireless manager to check all your neighbourhood's existing channel they are using, select one that are un-used or least used. Don't use Channel 11 or 12, some notebooks or mobile devices cannot connect to it.
c. Invest in a N-wireless adaptor for your remote computer, it really improves the stability. b and g adaptors does not give you the stability for copying/streaming large files and often hangs. Preferably same manufacturer as your wireless router. Avoid pci type adaptor as it gives you limited flexibility in placement of antennae, go for usb type.
By the way, I am using RB250GS router, previously I was using TM DLINK 615 (in vlan bridge mode), both are OK, except I don't like the ugly orange TM logo and the amber light blinking (as if something was wrong!)

Also cut back on the number of wireless devices using 2.4GHz frequencies around the router, it does affect the quality of signal.
