Just to check.. will the firmware upgrade works if I use a 2TB external hdd? i don't have any thumbdrive lying around..

No need the WiFi adapter, I am setting up by cross linking to my laptop as I only have DiGi broadband access in my room.

Instruction on setting up cross linking

• I connect my laptop (PC) via my Nexus One Portable Wi-Fi hotspot network tethering.
  
  
• Connect the Blu-ray player using a cross network cable to my laptop.
  
  
• Once establish connection, change your PC LAN connection from Dynamic IP to Static IP.
  
  
• Put IP address as 192.168.0.1 on LAN TCP/IPv4 at PC.
  
  
• PC LAN subnet mask as 255.255.255.0
  
  
• Leave blank for the rest of the PC LAN setting.
  
  
• Now go to the BD player network settings and choose manual IP setup.
  
  
• Assign the BD IP as 192.168.0.2, & subnet mask as 255.255.255.0
  
  
• Set the BD Default Gateway & DNS to 192.168.0.1
  
  
• Now back to your PC, and tick enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in your PC Wireless Network Connection Properties as seen below.
  
  

** With above setting, you can share 3 devices connected to internet. (Nexus One, Laptop & this blu-ray player). I don't have router in my room, I never test on it, I only use cross link method. The WiFi adapter I won't ever think to purchase it, no point purchase on it as it is too costly.

Tried the above setup but with broadband modem, but cannot connect to internet tv.

All network setup is ok, network test also done... says connect to internet

But when start internet tv... it just comes to the itv main screen but cannot move cursor or click to any of the screen buttons/icons

I wonder if problem is the player or the internet connection...hmmm

I dont think the firmware has any bearing with the supported ext drive size. If its working now, then it should work after the upgrade as well.

PS: I havent made any test on external drive yet...will do soon, but I only have 1TB.

May I know which branch? PJ or KL?

I checked with 2 forumers, both also NO stock :-(

I updates so many times, nothing special, can't play BD still can't play (I got face two genuine BD cannot play, Disc1 of certain chapter of spartacus blood and sand, and also totally can't play at all after the advertisement in one of the disc of Ghost in the Shell 2.0 Japan Edition BD, both BD no issue and play smoothly in my Sony S370 player), and never solved any problem they have in certain MKV file or the chinese subtitle issue for the MKV playback.

I had no idea what Samsung firmware Fix, for me it fix nothing.

Thanks mate, the reason i asked was, that i thought i read somewhere in LYN (been doing so much reading  ) that alll msian BD player's DVD is region free. I'm wrong then. How about BD45, if i may ask here?

yeah..me too..try play my "I Am Number Four.mkv" 5.5GB file also cannot play.
try update to latest firmaware..still the same...the other mkv file it can play..
really frustrated...

You just need to do a "remux" of the MKV file and rmbr to enable"disable header removal compression".
It should be able to work fine.

It can playback:

Original / Pirated / Burn of VCD, DVD and BD.

How to remux? can you share with me,  the step to remux.
What software to remux?
