I also managed to hack it into a Region free player using the method used by other members here. I think the open and close tray step can be skipped.

Folks, after booting, it shows there is a new firmware to be update. I didnt update any at this point in time, just wanted to get a feel what the player offers now.
Any major changes you saw with the upgrade? |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ May 24 2011, 12:14 PM) Cool! where you get the log, they is no log previously, I am using latest firmware, they fix nothing for me. Problematic BD still problematic. So I don't see what they fix. OK for the Internet TV capability do change a bit, but I not use that. Here is the link http://www.samsung.com/my/support/detail/s...chword=BD-C5500Meanwhile, I was wondering if I update the firmware would it loose the Internet TV programs. It seem to have cool links and downloaded programs, like yoga. I havent explored further. But i think its better than Pana, since I have Pana TV (Plasma), its links are limited to youtube (which i love to have, i watch alot here, when i have nothing to do or boring astro shows), picasa, skype, twitter and weather (assuming the same for BD45 as well) But samsung has way much more. Will update the pictures later, and we could compare. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ May 24 2011, 03:35 PM) Using remote to facebook or whatever? forget it la, I try one time, never bother that internet TV part anymore. I havent tried, but i presume its similar to other remote (I have for Pana), hence the remote is more like handphone keypad, which is fine with me, normally i search using the PC and then keyed in the exact phrase, its easier that way. Last weekend I watched Armageddon on youtube, cool! Until now, I never face any missing on Internet TV, before update I don't even have Facebook, after update, it came. On Pana, the youtuber is just great, some of the none-Pana had told me they are having problem streaming on net (buffering), I have no such problem on 1MB streamyx |

Ok, today played around digital AUdio output and analog to my Stereo Receiver.
Decided to go with analog, just because, my receiver has better control for analog input, could play around with equalizer and SPC mode. ANdrew, which mode do you use? |

QUOTE(overfloe @ May 30 2011, 03:54 PM) hi owners, I dont think the firmware has any bearing with the supported ext drive size. If its working now, then it should work after the upgrade as well.Just to check.. will the firmware upgrade works if I use a 2TB external hdd? i don't have any thumbdrive lying around.. PS: I havent made any test on external drive yet...will do soon, but I only have 1TB. |

QUOTE(ronaldkwok @ Jun 14 2011, 07:05 AM) AFAIK, the only entry level BD player available locally where the DVD is region free is, surprisingly, Sony S370. All the others are locked to Region 3, including the Samsung. Correct me if I am wrong. Aiyo kawan that was very old question that I had posted and had been answered ANyways, what you mention is correct, but the samsung player can be made region free by keying in the correct code. |

BTW, you can buy used BD for RM 50-70, thats good price, many at LYN are selling it, check it out.
As I said earlier, no problem in playing any disc on this player. The DVD would come with region 3 but can be made region free (check on previous post or google how to do it) . whereas BD comes as Region A |

QUOTE(infinityjc @ Jun 22 2011, 01:15 AM) Guys, fyi please take note don't ever go and buy things from Best Denki at Summit USJ. Seriously, I dont think its Best Denki alone, I think many electrical shops are ignorant of the price change, and keeps on displaying the same old price. The salesman are CON! They are liars... It happened last few days ago when I went there and ask what is the price for Samsung BD-C5500. Walau wei, the sale fellow said about RM 900+. Then I said what!!?? Are you sure?? Then I told him other place sell only about RM 500. Immediately I walked away and whisper myself better tell him bang the door la! I surely will not go there anymore again and I guess most other DEnki are the same. That's why you can see nowadays Best Denki's business and reputation like shit compares to others... Before I bought the player, I too walked in many shops and thats what I found, even some reputable shop that I trusted, since I have bought many things with them in past. |

I bought it from a forumer here, check on my previous post, but this model had been sold out now.
BD Live, is basically, bonus download from internet when you are viewing a movie on BD. You need to have your BDPLayer connected to internet. |
